  1. Hello again. PrintMaster is now at version 1.2.0, which now includes the discussed cost feature. Download 1.2.0 Upgrade instructions Demo Please read the upgrade instructions, paying attention to the step that involves running /upgrade.php - this is important, and makes the necessary database changes. You will also need to add the currency value mentioned to the inc/config.php file.
  2. Thanks Pete, that's good to know. My current train of thought then, is: Each consumable will have a price attached to it, which you can change by just going to the Edit link for a consumable. When you record a new delivery for a consumable, the price will be displayed, but you will have the opportunity to change it at this time. When you install a consumable to a printer, its current price at that time will be stored with the "log" entry for that installation. Right track?
  3. Hi. Yes! This would be quite an easy change to add. I will look at adding this soon. An EduGeek member local to me has actually made a change to PrintMaster based around cost-per-toner for the way their school works, and they have kindly provided me with the copy of project with all the changed files. However, I have yet to go through the changes and integrate them into PrintMaster in such a way that it will be useful to many users. There are several things to consider. Based on my own past experience, my main concern is the potential fluctuation in cost of consumables. For example, you take delivery of 2 toners in March at £36 each, and 2 more in September at £42 each. There needs to be a way of specifying which cost toners you use when installing to a printer. This also affects quantity. Is it a case of just saying "This consumable will always cost a fixed amount of £X" and be done with it? Within this fixed cost you "absorb" or hide any differences you may encounter? Then there is the reporting side. When you install a toner, you're simply recording which consumable went into which printer, and when (currently). When costs are involved, that's fine - because we just record the price at the time of installation. But then what do you do with that information? Send someone an email with the details? Or is it just a case of being able to look at a given printer, and view the consumable installation history, including costs, for a given time period? The currency would also have to be configurable, as I know there are international users of this project now Any feedback and suggestions on how best to tackle the cost feature, to make it useful to as many of you as possible, would be appreciated
  4. Hi fiza There are a couple of options you can use. If you or someone you know is good with PHP development, you could implement something basic yourself using the fAuthorization class that's part of the bundled libraries. Alternatively, you can use the Apache web server's built-in authentication methods - this seems to be a nice guide: how to use htpasswd to create protected directories XAMPP / apache.
  5. Hi guys! Exciting update about PrintMaster for you (particularly @eclass). Some new features that will help you install consumables to printers quicker and easier: Select multiple consumables to install to a printer at one time Search printer list on dashboard Download Version 1.1.0. Upgrade instructions: Replace existing installation with the contents from the zip file; but make sure you keep your inc/config.php and inc/init.php files. A CSS file has also been updated, so make sure you do a hard refresh in your browser to get it out of your cache. Hope those changes help you out. Let me know if you have any issues @fiza: Thanks! Glad you find it useful
  6. That's interesting, I never thought of that use case during planning or developing. It might be fairly easy to add - I'll see if I have some time to look at that soon Yes, that's annoying. Solution: have less printers so the list fits on the page Joking aside, I'm pleased you find the script useful
  7. Hi @eclass The project is still "alive", but I haven't made any changes to it for a long time as I am busy with others at the moment (mainly Classroombookings). Is there anything specific you need from PrintMaster?
  8. Oh! Really? I thought you might have only just been linked to it by someone else. But yes - shame on them if they're actually promoting this again without cause.
  9. I did a similar thing when I was working at the school, but used Visio instead. With use of layers, the core Visio map allowed various versions to be created easily - emergency exit plans, simplified versions for visitors, and the website. If you have Visio, I can highly recommend using it
  10. I installed selfoss on my own web hosting, and imported my Google Reader exported file. Works well for me
  11. Hi Ben It looks like it should have expected some data, but couldn't find any. It says, "no week configured" - does today's date fall within a configured week? You can check this by going to Week Cycle, and ensuring that the academic year is set up and that a week entry exists for this week.
  12. I'm with @bossman, and his response to that is, "what a load of bullocks!" ;-) Shame you won't be there either James. I wonder if EduShades will be??
  13. 7:35. Bossman and I waiting for greasy spoon cafe to open at 8am for breakfast! Looking forward to seeing you all soon

This isn't my picture, but I have one of these Couchbase ones as my daily work mug:
  15. Hi OK, I've had a little play around with it on IIS, and found a combination of settings that might work. Edit the config.php file. Make sure your base_url value is set to the web server's host and URL where classroombookings will be. The value for index_page should be index.php. Next, a few lines down, you should change the uri_protocol entry to look like this: $config['uri_protocol'] = 'PATH_INFO'; Please give them a go and report back
  16. Hi lebowskii_98, thanks for taking the time to look at Classroombookings. I haven't installed or tested it under IIS, but it should work. I think the best resource now for PHP and IIS is the official place - php.iis.net. For MySQL - yes, you will need the MySQL server installer - the "mysql-installer-web-community" will probably be better. You won't need all the extras for Excel or Visual Studio and the like. For creating the database and username, you might be able to do this using the Workbench tool that can be installed with MySQL server, or you could use a free third-party app like HeidiSQL. Hope that's helpful! Craig.
  17. Hi timbo343 I should probably put answers to those on the website! But here goes... (pull up a chair...) a long time ago, I released Classroombookings version 1, which worked fine on PHP 5.2. Time went by, people were still using it, I was (and still am) working on version 2, but never updated version 1. As PHP matured and more people started using versions 5.3 and 5.4, the ageing CRBS version 1 grew incompatible with it. This meant that some people who had modern PHP setups couldn't run Classroombookings at all. I recently received a copy of v1 which had been updated to work with PHP 5.3+. This essentially just a small update to v1 which addresses a few minor issues with the original project, and it is likely to work on most PHP and MySQL setups out there today. If you have an existing CRBS installation and want to run it under up-to-date PHP, then get 1.0.1. If you're setting up a new booking system, give 1.0.1 a go and see if it's what you're after. In terms of upgrading from 1.0.0 to 1.0.1 - in theory, you should be able to replace all the files in your CRBS setup with the ones from the 1.0.1 download. But take a backup first! Your config files will remain safe and unchanged. Version 2 is still a work in progress. Stick to v1 for now Hope that covers everything. Any problems or comments, let me know. The website, for those who want to find out more, is classroombookings.com.
  18. Vidahost (referral link) are pretty good, and have a nice range of services and decent support. I use the Cloud offering for my personal stuff, but also use their dedicated and shared packages at work. If you decide to use Vidahost, you can use my discount code CR10H to get 10% off

    Fuelly

If you view the page for the car, under the name, it should tell you what it is. E.g. for mine, it says: "2004 Skoda Fabia vRS • Diesel L4 Hatchback (Manual)". Some of the car-related fields are optional, so you may be unlucky with the ones you're looking at.

I've been using the site for a while, it's a good way of tracking your MPG and any other vehicle-related events/issues/maintenance This is me: craigrodway's profile | Fuelly
  22. Excellent I like it when things just work!
  23. I use jQuery UI Autocomplete to do this on a text input field, and update a hidden ID field with the actual value (ID) - the label (name) remains in the text field. Javascript: $(".name").autocomplete({ source: "/ajax/lookup", minLength: 2, select: function( event, ui ) { $("input[name=id]").val(ui.item.id); } }); PHP returns: $result = do_search($query); foreach ($result as $row) { $items[] = array('label' => $row['name'], 'id' => $row['id']); } echo json_encode($items);
