One thing that every man needs is a camera that doesn't make phone calls. I would personally recommend a Pentax LX - mine is 35 years old and still terrific. You should be able to find one in your budget. You *might* find a Leica M3 body in that range too, but lenses would push the price up beyond that. A Minox B would be a nice present too (are you listening Santa?) although carrying the office desk and lamp around to use it is damn inconvenient

I disagree. You can still get brand new parts (AKA patches) for your 30 year old Audi. What is interesting in the article is the fact that the IRS are paying M$ to continue to patch XP. I think the DOD are too, so it could be seen as a ploy to keep money rolling into the company. I wonder if the NHS and HMRC (I think these are the two biggest XP users in Blighty) are slipping Microsoft a monkey in the same way? Many people I speak to say XP is where Microsoft should have stopped writing O/Ss.

I was listening to Classic FM last night and I heard a new recording of Prokofiev's "Peter and the Wolf" with narration by Alice Cooper. Actually it was Peter and the Wolf in Hollywood and it is on their website here (I think - it doesn't want to work on our network. We have a problem with some online radio.) I don't think it is quite as good as the CD of Dame Edna and the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra doing the same piece or Sir Les Patterson and the LSO doing "Peter and the Shark" which I was lucky enough to see live a couple of years ago. Still worth a listen though.

I had a Yugo 45 which was a nice car, until the RAC blew the engine up trying to fix a misfire on the M5. It had some practical features like the spare wheel under the bonnet, to maximise room in the boot. After that, I got a Lada Samara GL, which meant it had sunroof and speakers. You had to buy the GLX to get the radio/cassette. I bought a cassette player on the market for a tenner. All I did was put petrol in it and had it serviced and it went for ever! I wish I still had it. Even on the coldest of mornings it started first turn of the key. The Yugo was a different story though - it would start if you could get into it. The doors used to freeze solid, although you could always get in via the tailgate. You had to scrape the ice off the inside too

The bit I read on Teletext this morning (or whatever it's called now) said you could pay to see content by the "well-known" PewDiePie, Rooster Teeth and Lilly Singh. I'm not the most tech-savvy person around but I have no idea as to who these people are and I have no interest in finding out. To me Lilly Singh sounds like a name who should be on the other tube that is red.

I used to use a P-clip and security screw to secure the keyboard and mouse to the bench, leaving enough slack to the cables could only reach the rear usb ports. This probably won't help you though if they break padlocks.
