I don't know if this is true but I heard that there was an article in the Telegraph about a PE teacher being given an unsatisfactory observation during a games lesson because some of the pupils were standing around doing very little. They were fielding in a cricket match! It does seem that some Ofsted inspectors really have little idea?

I worked for ICOM and I got a call from a guy asking what an IC-A1 was. I told him it was an airband handheld transceiver and did he want to buy one. The school took what they considered to be the right procedures and cannot be held responsible. I reckon the risk of getting a broken drill or a shard of pcb in your eye is a lot greater.

I won't watch it because it's not on free to view but I probably wouldn't even if it was on BBC. I guess the millions they will lose if they cancel has something to do with it. I'm really long sighted and have always got my varifocals from a reputable shop which supply Hoya lenses. This time, they would cost £235 putting them in the existing frames. I went to Specsaver and the same spec. lenses were £185 including frames. I asked what lens they used and was told Pentax. That's a good sound name I thought but when I got home and checked, they have a licence to use the Pentax name and the lenses are from their own source. I haven't got the new specs yet and I'm sure they will be fine but if not, I'll make a huge stink about them leading me to believe I was buying a top ame brand. I'm not sure about going online for varifocals. When I had my eyes tested, they used some fairly elaborate kit to determine where the centres were. How do you get that sort of accuracy if you do it yourself?
