Hi all, Need some advice/ guidance re offering a cloud based offsite back to our client schools. At present we're offering the ill-fated onsite/ offsite encrypted portable hard disk solution, using two portable disks, which rotate weekly. I label this ill-fated because we request the clients take the disks offsite, which generally get forgotten about, lost, or damaged in transit. Needless to say we needed a more viable solution, something which instilled peace-of-mind with both us and the clients. My question is not which company to use, out of the myriad numbers of cloud based backup suppliers, as that part has already been accomplised... My question is what mission critical data do we advise backing up... Given that data costs money! The obvious default data to backup, includes all administrative work and staff folders, including any staff shared areas. So I'm therefor guessing that hard quotas should be put in place to ensure these folders to not exceed there set limit, thus escalated the cost of the offsite backup. We're also not sure what to advise re pupil work, and whether this should be accounted for.

Seeminly this company is now offering offiste data backup... Odd how there is no mention of it on their website... (looked for rolling eyes smiley, but couldn't find one). Quote from their email to one of our clients... "We also offer a managed offsite data back up solution for your staff & Students Data, this is up to 4TB (Terabyte) per school of Data space at the London's Dockland Data Centre. Only £50.00 per month".

Brilliant will give that a whirl, thanks Typically because this has been an image, we're suffering from this on mass in one of our areas... Fortunately we already had a new unattended image compiled and ready, so that took the bite out of it. It was more of a curiosity thing for us.

Yep sysprep ran prior to capturing each image.

Has anyone ever experienced computers losing connection to the domain on mass? We have a batch of Windows 7 and XP laptops which have seemingly lost connection, with the Network ID and Change button are both greyed out. The only way to re-connect is to remove to a local workgroup and then re-connect to the domain. The only common denominator is having used WDS to have imaged them. Any ideas?

I'm trying and failing to get 2 Broadcom NetExtreme Gigabit Ethernet cards to team up. I keep getting a message which reads: The teaming driver is not currently installed. I'm following the BACS using the wizard mode, getting right to the end prior to it applying the team. I have what I think are the latest drivers from the Broadcom site. Has anyone got any clues? Does the NetExtreme even support teaming? I was under the impression it does.

I think the new UI works well on the sever OS... Admittedly it wasn't all smiles from the start, but after a few weeks I found the UI provides much quicker access to install services/ software.

Hi Michael, seemingly all working this morning... Clearly issues behind the scenes, planned maintenance which hadn't been specified. This particular school account was only setup recently, using the new UI from the start. The fact that MS give no mention of platform issues is very alarming, whilst in many respects I'm naturally pleased it's working, on the other hand I'd like a blooming explanation.

For some reason We've lost the Outlook, Calendar and People options from the top of the portal for admin users. Has anyone experienced this issue before? I can see the options, but they are greyed out. Slightly concerned and puzzled.

If I'm honest with you all, for the last three years I've been using Netgear switches and found them to be fine, albeit much of an uncertainty, especially when it came to upgrading the firmware on the blighters. I also found some to very VERY noisy, although this was usually drowned out by the fans on old 2950's, lol.

Thanks folks, figured HP would be the better choice, was just a little concerned the hp switch in question would be somewhat lacking.

Has anyone got history with either of these switches? NETGEAR ProSafe GS724TS or HP V1810-24G Not used HP, so keen for opinions.

I recall I decided upon a phase of re-imaging all clients, luckily XP unattend takes not time at all to set-up, we had a new image knocked up within hours (lots of software and FULLY patched) and rolling out that afternoon. It may well be a laborious task, but it was worth it for peace of mind. As the chaps have commented on above, updates and patches are your friend. Oh and before I forget, AVG offer free upgrade to 2013, not sure why you're sitting with 2012... The client interface is tidier on 2013 and the footprint is way smaller.

Snap! Had this issue last year, we took on a big contract following on from a Hugh IT support player, who hadn't controlled the outbreak. We banned all USB storage devices until a they had all been scanned/ disinfected. We used McAfee Stinger to remove.

No error, nothing at all. I found this by accident whilst logged on as a domain admin, happened to notice the buttons were greyed out.

Has anyone experienced a Windows 7 network issue, where by the Windows 7 domain client loses connection to the domain, yet doesn't notify the user of a failed trust relationship?! Having issues with this on a 2003 domain. I'm having to log is as a local admin, remove from the domain and then re-connect the computer. I get no notification that a trust relationship can't be established. All computers have come off the same image... Needless to say I'm slightly concerned the image may be corrupt. My only other thought is Windows updates.

Just letting you folks know - it gets no better with Server 2012. We've had to reconsider deploying network printer using the GP Preferences way. I'm going to be testing scripts next week.

Can anyone please confirm if it is possible to establish a trust between two disjoined ADDS 2003 and 2012 domain forests? I believe this is not possible between 2000 and 2012. Thanks
