IE 8 the image scroller is having some real issues, difficult to describe but its shuddering along and when it tries to load a new image it loads across the page (so only half of the original image is replaced) then snaps into place.

So the eBay one was just using big numbers? I've got a graphics card that is not that old... So could take that out of the current PC.

Looking for a new desktop as the one I currently have is on it's last legs.. the criteria is below, budget is £400 although the less the better. 1. Should be capable of running two screens (1 VGA, 1 DVI) 2. Must have space for a wireless card 3. Typically used for coding work (Dreamweaver, FTP Transfers, Light Graphic Design), but also play Eve Online during my down time 4. Must come with operating system or be able to install one within budget I'm toying with this one: Quad Core 4.0ghz, 16GB Ram, 1tb Drive and a 2gb Graphics Card Or this cheap one: Dual 2.5GHz, 4gb Ram, 320gb HD Don't need any monitors, mouse, keyboard as I already have them. The first I think is a bit overkill but should future proof it, the second is well within budget but not sure if it will cope...

Maybe a simple access database will do or even an excel spreadsheet with the filters turned on..

I suspect it's because I do have a mild case of lead foot, when it comes to coming off the lights (drivers in Leicester typically drive up your backside so I prefer to have my own space). I also typically use my car to pick up my son at night which marks me down.

It doesn't appear to have minimum amounts, for example a motorway drive you have to stick at 70mph which TBH I found dangerous. That said it's only if your in the bottom 20% of their drivers that you will see any effect on anything (they will charge you an extra fee 6months in). I too am all for the new driver stuff, personally I think it should be more like the motorcycle licenses you start off with a small car and no passengers and then you 'upgrade' by doing another test after a year or so with that.

I think they increase your premiums after passing your test because your no longer required to be supervised by someone older and "more responsible", your also free to grab all your mates and run down to mcdonalds. So TBH I see why they increase premiums on new drivers. Carls post is right about what it's reading but as I say as long as your not terrible then it's not going to shoot you in the foot.

Just thought I'd update this thread... I've had the box for about 3 months and they've decided I'm an average to poor driver (I've been enjoying my new car a little too much)... I don't think I'll fall into either 20% so it hasn't really effected anything.

I have a UK host already and will be looking at launching my suite of sites in the US shortly, which means I'll get improved speed and SEO with a host local to my visitors.

The fact that many have already found hosts that offer this... is what exactly? Great first post, won't be touching your company with a barge pole... ... lol.

Is this a school/college/university project?

if you host externally then just ask your host restore from backup they might make a small charge but it Will save you time and effort

If I give you a script can you see if it runs? (it uses CURL to lookup Gumtree ad's and echo's the specifics), I know some hosts disable CURL.

To be fair it was all covered by insurance and they've bought new cases now that look like they are doing a better job (although time will tell)...

GoDaddy's control panel is slooow, I use them for domain names (only for consistency) but thanks anyway for the suggestion. HostNine looks ideal, especially as I'll be looking to expand websites into other countries.

Hi I know there are some edugeekers on here from the US of A, so was wondering if they could provide recommendations for a decent US based host. Thought I'd put in my recommendation for CSnewmedia, I've been with them for a few years with both my personal and professional sites and Carl is nothing short of helpful even when I've screwed it up repeatedly.

Just to add I've been with CSnewmedia for almost 5 years now, used it on both shared and VPS plans, tried a few other (slightly cheaper) hosts over the years and always come back to CSnewmedia as you get what you pay for. It's UK based as well so if it's a UK site your setting up it can help in the SERPs.
