Anyone had experience with the above company, I'm looking at an ITIL course just to enhance my knowledge and because the bigger employers around here seem to have understanding of it as a essential requirement and a certificate as a desirable. One thing I wished I'd figured out sooner is I bought the house near to a University so I could of rented that @ £600 (2 Bed Duplex Flat, 3 minutes from University/City Centre/Train Station) and with a mortgage of £450 pocketed the difference... then I'd have been able to carry on enjoying my lifestyle in rented accommodation whilst paying the mortgage off and earning from my investment. It's something I'm still tempted by (I have a baby and partner now, so flat isn't ideal but I could get a nice terrace away from the University).. So I guess it's always an option to house owners. You have to consider a mortgage is only part of the regular cost of owning a home, my "house" outgoings is more like ~45-50% + bills (rainy day funds, work that needs doing, buildings insurance (sort of a bill but not)). I'm trying to get my finances steady by working as a freelancer (aiming for around six months of my regular income) only then will I feel truely "secure".

Don't do it... I bought my own house at 22 because I could afford it but wish I'd waited a few more years. It's a pain being tied down like that, especially with a good chunk of your income having to go on a mortgage (and no way to downsize/upsize it like you can when renting)... I did manage to make a income out of it though as I didn't need the other bedroom so rented that out to help cover costs, which I really recommend for anyone who is buying a house without a real need for the space. P.S Because I bought one that's roughly 30% of my income, it's now a real struggle to save anything (everytime I get a decent amount the house seems to suck it up).

One way to find out... try uploading a 1gb file with a simple php script, if that works your golden.

If this is working on a LAN, why do you need anything other than a shared area folder with the correct permission? Couldn't get much easier or cheaper than that... Unless you want people to be able to search for the videos by different fields. As for website, be mindful of PHP's timeout and upload settings (if you change the max upload, you may also need to change the timeout to stop the script timing out) P.S DPA does apply to every business

Try what they've given you with "ftp." in front of it Also may be worth going back to that tool and checking the settings you did, as I can 100% vouch for it working (on the old website it was flash, images, css, javascript) and it got the lot (although I had to change settings, perhaps if you PM me the web address).

Hi, If it's just a plain old site you can just run a webcrawler to download all the css/html files then reupload on new host.. HTTrack Website Copier - Free Software Offline Browser (GNU GPL) is what I had used when I had to do it at my old school. Thanks, John

Although you have got lots of education experience... I'm not sure you'd get Manager positions without more experience (not knowing how long you worked at the University) but to be a Network Manager they would be looking for someone with practical experience in networks/servers/switches/budgeting/managing... Service Desk Manager might be possible if you have a decent amount of service desk experience and good customer service examples?

Yes basic web programming fixed wordpress and other scripts and adjusting css, I steered clear of major design work as that involved long projects for less money (and too much risk if the client doesn't pay up).

I worked on o-desk whilst my partner was pregnant to increase our savings, as long as you exploit the fact your native English speaking you can be very well paid (people don't like employing from other countries as the finished product suffers) I made around $700 a month for a couple of months, but had to pack it in when baby came (it can devour a lot of your time, in order to keep your clients happy and meet deadlines) P.S If I were to ever lose my job, I would supplement my income through these sites you could earn around a grand full time by my workings..

I've done a few courses finished the T215 last year, found it really boring (into more pratical stuff, rather than writing report... after report... after report) I've heard on the grapevine that M courses are more pratical focused is this true?

Don't quote me on this but we have onelan boxes all over the place and I'm fairly sure that you can use one box by itself as a standalone (as long as you can access it through the web console).

No but they say It's a support role with course administration tied in. I'm thinking of signing up to a blackboard course that takes place mid Feburary then at least I can mention it in the personal statement box.

I haven't used MRBS in a while but have you checked in the config file? From memory it holds a host of settings about this sort of thing.

I use xilo.net (for cheap but cheerful) and csnewmedia.co.uk for something a little more robust (better customer service).
