  1. Well, I am still talking to Microsoft about this as I did get the card put on and I activated the free trial but every time I try to create a resource I am prompted to setup a free trial (which I have already done), so I'm basically stuck in a loop and MS aren't exactly being quick or particularly helpful, I believe I am now speaking to a 6th different agent about it. I'll definitely be reviewing this requirement in line with our licensing next year, rather than PAYG, if they can ever get it to work that is.
  2. Wow, I would love to play Pong on that!
  3. Yes, since 2016 here.
  4. We had something broadly similar a few years ago and it was our AV causing the issue (or rather my poor configuration of it). Basically we had on demand file scanning active on the clients and the server policies. This was obviously fine when we were testing, but once everyone logged on and the server was scanning every file being accessed this obviously caused quite a queue for disk read / write attempts.
  5. Thanks for this, I guess I'd better setup the free trial for now then. I doubt I'll get approval to put the school card on there for PAYG but it can't hurt to ask. Hopefully I should be able to get most of my Conditional Access testing done by the summer anyway.
  6. So, I am currently setting up a conditional access rule in Report-only mode to make sure it is targeting the correct behaviour patterns. The problem is that when I go to view the report I get a message saying that Log Analytics integration is not enabled. Looking online for solutions just says to create a new workspace from scratch in Azure but when I do this I am asked to setup an Azure trial?? After much back and forth with MS support for a week, they finally say that the P1 license we have as part of our M365 A3 CSP license is for ADD only and does not cover any other elements / subscriptions in Azure. Trying to research this over the weekend I couldn't actually find anything about an Azure P1 license, I just got pages and pages of results about ADD P1. Could anyone else confirm if MS are right or if they are just making it up (it wouldn't be the first time)? I thought a P1 subscription was just a P1 subscription, not that M365 A3 P1 was just for the ADD element of Azure.
  7. Yup, another for Fresh Start.
  8. We are currently using the self hosted version of ManageEngine Service Desk Plus, we are just about to move to their online offering which is free for up to 5 users, you can have separate instances so I'm also looking to move our site / maintenance helpdesk there too. Unlike with some offerings, you can use an O365 account to send and receive emails rather than using a non school domain account (I'm just going through the setup for modern auth for this).
  9. Thanks for the feedback so far. @GVaughan thank you, I'll make a note of this.
  10. Thanks, this hasn't come up in my discussions with our Bursar so I will add it to the list of things to check. I can't imagine they would still get away with this stance now though.
  11. That is very interesting to know, thank you, that is already a big help. Out of interest, what type of establishment are you working for?
  12. I'm currently reviewing our options regarding MIS providers and I have made initial enquiries with Arbor, Bromcom and ISAMS, one thing that has been brought up are the finance options that each provides (or doesn't). Our bursar is currently using FMS in conjunction with Access (Education Finance Software | School Accounting | Access (theaccessgroup.com)) for various aspects including budgeting. What I would like to know is, what finance package are other schools using once they have moved to one of the aforementioned MIS systems? I would be particularly interested to hear from state / independent secondary schools, especially if they fall under Birmingham LA. All thoughts and opinions are more than welcome though.
  13. I jut hope they can do it justice, it is a very high bar to clear.
  14. Only just seen this thread, thankfully the updates appears to have applied without issue for us (a mixture of Server 2019 & 2016).
  15. In broad strokes, this is what you will need to do: 1. Make sure you are syncing your AD accounts and passwords to Azure. 2. Get your devices enrolled to Intune. 3. Configure policies if you want to control any particular settings. By default, you need to sign into the device using an email address, if you just want to use usernames then at the very least you will need to set a policy for the preferred domain. There are loads of videos and tutorials out there but I found this video ( ) and this channel (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCfmMlhX5TW8cicxHw6ExYVA) particularly helpful.
  16. User I was talking to was using Chrome, I was using Edge (Chromium). In either event, the browsers nor the settings (that we control) have been changed recently.
  17. Its not Chrome: http://www.edugeek.net/forums/office-software/225702-owa-double-click-not-opening-email-new-window.html
  18. Yes, had it reported by a member of our admin team this morning, I use the Outlook client but it is also not working for me in OWA. No changes made on our part either.
  19. With the information you have provided, the approach is the wrong way around; what issue is the proposal trying to solve? What other solutions are there that could also achieve this (and more)? What is the success criteria of the project? Other things such as the platform you would use, device type, software etc. would depend on aforementioned, not the other way around.
  20. Very much the same, just £30 on each of Bitcoin, Ethereum and ADA. The staking for ADA is interesting, although the value has dropped nearly 20% since I opened the position the other week. Still, following rule number one, not putting on anything more than I’m willing to lose. You see people with thousands invested in Crypto, I just don’t see how when it is so volatile and they can swing for no apparent reason or from one Tweet from Musk. I suppose some people are happy to risk a few thousand (like me with my £90) at the prospect of hitting a coin at the right moment for a chance of 1000%+ profit.
  21. The Lenovo 300e 2nd Gen are nice bits of kit actually.
  22. Alt + Print Screen to just capture the active window, may be redundant if they are familiar with the Snipping tool though. Ctrl + Scroll to Zoom and Ctrl + 0 to set it back again.
  23. I can only really echo what @CHiLL has already said. Once you factor in the amount of money it costs in terns of hours worked for school staff to go through all the false positives, Monitor actually saves money / time and provides a more efficient turnaround to issues.
  24. So apparently User-Driven deployments should be unaffected, so it looks like I can get on with some of my backlog. Typically, my main focus is on a Self-Deploying setup at the moment.
