  1. A Very Happy Christmas to everyone. Hope you all have a good time and I shall look forward to meeting some of you at BETT
  2. Yes, me.
  3. Parents fill in an "opt out" form when their child starts in the school. It makes it very clear that they are agreeing to their child's image being used. This makes things very much easier. I don't think you can use the "internal only " argument as any visitor might see the picture We are very careful not to put pics and names together in the newsletter.
  4. ohhhh - winning so far TBF I am a musician and singer and "should" be able to keep to a beat
  5. 905 Should have done better
  6. I find the main issue is not blinking. I don't suffer when looking at a computer but I do when reading music - I end up with dry scratchy eyes that then water and blur.
  7. My left-hand penguin keeps falling in - must be something wrong
  8. @Millgate Good prices, quick turnaround, free delivery
  9. Welcome back anyway. I would be interested to see if you could get to someone who could explain their thinking. I hope the RAF proves a better bet and you get where you want to be
  10. @X-13 FRIDAY. Unless you don't want a witchhug this year? @GrumbleDook Hope to see you this year. You owe me a hug too (What? I like hugging people and this year due to other things going on I will need lots of hugs) @Sagima Perhaps I am being dim, but when you say "not allowed" ? Is there something I am missing?
  11. The dead batteries were given out free of charge.
  12. Honey, I think you should stop now
  13. That is what I was trying to say too. I do think co-eds need to address the issue though as I don't think single sex schools are great
  14. It may well be that there is a gender-based reason why fewer girls do STEM subjects, but I am firmly of the opinion that it is important that the reason they chose not to do them is that of absolute preference, and NOT a perception that "girls don't do science". To this end, we have STEM visitors in the school who are often women, and our teachers try their best to show why the STEM subjects are suitable for all. I did Physics and Biology A Level (and Eng Lit, but I always was a bit weird) and most of my friends did science too, but I was at a single-sex grammar. I don't like single sex schools AT ALL but I wonder if there is some merit in teaching the sexes separately within a mixed school. There is evidence to show that if you do, more girls do STEM subjects and more boys do the non-STEM ones - I'll try and find the reports I read somewhere.
  15. Some of these jokes are little gems...
  16. We need a control set of the wider population to see if they are mostly "Infrequently Vile" or is it just us???
  17. When they are 8 years old, yes, they probably do
  18. TBH though, GCSE IT was all about how to use Excel as a database (grrrr) and the A level was even worse. One of mine did AS IT and basically it was just an Excel project. When he found out that the A2 was going to be just an Access project, he packed it in. His degree is in Politics and History but he has just started working as an application support programmer - think where he might be if he had done computing at school. Both my schools are doing lots of Kodu, Scratch and other things that are beginning to show the children what programming is all about. This is up to year 8. Hopefully it will stand them in good stead in the future and they will ALL see how interesting it can be. I say this even though I have something missing in my brain and couldn't get past "if - then" in Basic
  19. Duck!
  20. Infrequently Vile
  21. Wow - I'd love to do that
  22. Ok I have a disintegrating foot Go!!
  23. @elsiegee40 I think we should go into business together.....
  24. @Danp More info? Scarf, Book Token, pair of gloves, perfume, bit of jewellery?
  25. Is it ALL groups? Can you create a new one and see if that works (just thinking something might have broken) Failing that, MS support are quite helpful, I find
