Please check the messages window for more info. Can anyone help? I know less than nothing about this stuff!

My dog was quite ill a couple of months before he died and my vet also said that euthanasia was best as he might not last much longer and would be a lot of work. I haven't been back to that vet either. My beloved Smudge had another few happy months, and the night before he died we had a Christmas party and everyone remembers him running about, begging for sausages and snacks etc. It is true that once he went downhill he did struggle to breathe and that wasn't pleasant for him or us, but we sent him on his way quite quickly and I think it was worth if for that extra time with him.

Being inert due to a foot op for 6 weeks - I have trying to be careful re food as I put on weight very easily. I think I am doing OK - I've been doing half an hour of exercise three times a week as well - mostly arm stuff along with situps, leg lifts etc. I feel a bit fat though. The most difficult bit is going to be when I am back at work but still can't do classes or go the the gym for another couple of months. The motivation to do exercise after a days work is not going to be easy

They were indeed the wether'd wet kind

You have no idea Be afraid, be very afraid......

Mad Max - Fury Road (saw it when it came out) A great romp but full of plot holes. Still not a patch on Mad Max 2

More use of the Cloud Do you think some people will ever understand that it isn't really floating about somewhere but is on a server - just not their server?

Stir of Echoes Classic Kevin Bacon film. Suspenseful and surprising

Absolutely. You can never tell from a job description what they actually want. Someone might want your skills and is happy to teach you the server side - you never know. If you are interested, apply! Just out of interest - my LA job description makes it clear that an IT tech works under constant supervision and has nothing to do with quotes or suppliers. I used this to get the senior role in one of my jobs as I am alone. The other one, however, will not promote me to senior even though I am alone and do the same job as in the other school.

I'm the bit-outraged, @elsiegee40...Blade Runner is good! Mind you, I always liked Logan's run better As for you, @X-13 You love us ALL, I know you do

Happy Valentine's day to all - Happy Birthday to @elsiegee40 and congrats on the baby. Just had a lovely brunch with my son and his now betrothed, along with my other son and daughter and my soon to be daughter-in-law's parents. Only Spoons, but a nice celebration all the same. Got a nice card and flowers from mrwITch too..not bad after 30 years

Did you know that "..en" used to be used as a plural? We still say "children" and "oxen" but other useage such as "housen" has gone

Well, that stops the thread dead - because it has every one of those odd words in it - so what is left to discuss

So did I

Hmmm. Will have to look into it when my foot is better

round here there are very few short contracts, sadly

Welcome back @Earthling How did you get a short contract like that?

Done

We have Office 365 for staff and it is only now in one school, when the DH who is fairly IT literate, has made the decision to have various pupil intervention reports and the like on "sites" that it is being used for anything other than mail. The odd person uses the video bit but nothing much else. It isn't up to the IT staff to get things off the ground. The other school doesn't really use it at all other than mail. It is very frustrating but without the wholesale backing of SLT, nothing will change. We are about to refresh the whole network and I think it is time to sort out Office 365 for pupils and then disable USB sticks

Personal devices are used to take photos in both my schools, no matter what is said or done. I can always tell because of the resolution of said pics. Which are all over the server - in shared drives, personal document areas, you name it....

We have a very old version of Junior Lib - I've been here 12 years and it was here before me - and we have it running on a Windows 7 machine with no issues. The Librarian does the backup to a USB stick every night. I'm sorry if you think this is irrelevant but if you can run your program on a Win 7 machine you won't have any more issues.

We have a Ricoh MFP and the company were very helpful and sent out a nice engineer to rejig the drivers so the performance, hold, etc was exactly as we wanted as I couldnt get it right using the GUI. The copier seems to break down quite often but the engineers are quick to come and sort it out.

the first school I worked in had one room for the head, SLT and admin. It seemed to work fine but 2 years on when we got a new head, the first thing he did was put a wall up and give himself a separate office.
