  1. The App data is currently be saved onto svr-10 and i can see the signatures in their from users it just doesn't appear to be loading in outlook. Whats the best way of double checking the path? There's no errors in the event viewer to say that the redirect etc has failed.
  2. Morning! We switched to mandatory profiles over half term with redirected AppData, Downloads etc etc. Since the staff have come back we have noticed a few little issues with some settings not staying once they log off and log in again such as Pinned Taskbar items, Outlook not saving signatures and additional mailboxes and printers we have also noticed that Active Inspire has become really really sluggish it can take up 4 minutes for the software to load and then 30 seconds for the software to change between tools i.e pen -> rubber Has anybody experienced this issue? Or have any ideas as to where I can look?
  3. i have the note and if funds were available i would have bought the note2 already love it as a phone!
  4. vivotek ip cameras and an ubuntu box running zoneminder with a 12tb enclosure attached
  5. Personally i would just call to get it towed... i had this on my rover 200 and the bottom of the rad had cracked open not a single drop of water left in it but they are very prone to head gaskets going only had mine 6 months before it went to the gods of the scrap heap
  6. personally i would go with a pole mounted and an automatic roll down screen. thing to remember when putting something up high is maintenance.... how often do you need to change the bulb / lens / filters etc. We have a huge sanyo thing in our hall and its a pain as it generally goes wrong several times in a short time space and requires the scaffolding tower to be put up every time it goes wrong which just takes ages to organise and put up. All depends on cost and what size screen you want? A Casio XJM255 could give you 100" at 5m throw length at 3000 lumens
  7. we use it for the following - smoothwall (based on centos) - virtual cluster (cloudstack on ubuntu) - disk to disk backup (backuppc on ubuntu) - dhcp - webservers x 3 in failover (apache on ubuntu) - phone system - CCTV (zoneminder on ubuntu) - file servers it just works soo much better than windows
  8. As far as i know you can't but if you got room you could put a wifi card in the pc and bridge the LAN to wifi and make an AD-HOC (think thats the right one) network and attach the ipad to that
  9. For general classroom use Casio xj-m130 we have gone with these in all our classrooms
  10. mdench

    congrats to you both!
  11. It was a 2003 server but it hasn't been in existence for at least 4 years?
  12. We have recently upgraded to exchange 2010 and since then when people try to load outlook sometimes they will randomly get cannot connect to server. Server may be offline etc. Upon checking the mailbox settings under control panel -> Mail, the mailbox has changed to looking at one of our very old exchange servers. If you change it the current exchange name and then hit check name it will all start working instantly. Any one have idea as to why this would start happening all of a sudden.
  13. Ahh well you learn something new everyday
  14. I've always just done it as BCC never bothered with anything in the TO box. But ours does show the group in outlook when you receive an email rather than all those in the list.
  15. install i-funbox can be used to drag almost anything on and off the iPads
  16. We have the casio xj-m130s plug in an apple tv using HDMI and use the audio out jack on the projector to then either run phono into a set of speakers of jack to jack into the 2nd audio input of the promethean boards. Then just change the audio out on the projector to line out rather than speaker

  18. and err hence our problems!
  19. Yes we are ... well trying to... Do you use ACLs?
  20. Our samba config appears to be similar to that of the one in your article. Unless you can see anything that doesn't look right. I will check the permissions on profiles in a sec [global] workgroup = DOMAIN server string = %h server (Samba, Ubuntu) dns proxy = no log file = /var/log/samba/log.%m log level = 3 max log size = 1000 syslog = 1 panic action = /usr/share/samba/panic-action %d security = ads realm = DOMAIN.INTERNAL domain master = no local master = no preferred master = no idmap config DOMAIN: default = yes idmap config DOMAIN: backend = rid idmap config DOMAIN: range = 100000-500000000 idmap config * : range = 70000-500000000 winbind separator = + winbind enum users = no winbind enum groups = no winbind use default domain = yes winbind nested groups = yes winbind refresh tickets = yes template homedir = /home/%G/%U template shell = /bin/bash client ntlmv2 auth = yes encrypt passwords = true # restrict anonymous = 2 passdb backend = tdbsam obey pam restrictions = yes unix password sync = yes passwd program = /usr/bin/passwd %u passwd chat = *Enter\snew\s*\spassword:* %n\n *Retype\snew\s*\spassword:* %n\ n *password\supdated\ssuccessfully* . pam password change = yes map to guest = bad user load printers = no printing = cups printcap name = cups usershare allow guests = yes nt acl support = yes inherit acls = Yes map acl inherit = Yes map archive = no map hidden = no map read only = no map system = no store dos attributes = yes inherit permissions = Yes ## Section - [intake07] [intake07] comment = path = /var/FSHost/students/intake07 max connections = 0 admin users = @"Domain Admins" root valid users = @"Domain Users" browseable = no writeable = yes public = yes available = yes hide unreadable = yes access based share enum = yes force group = "Domain Users" veto files = /*.cmd/*.exe/*.bat/*.java/desktop.ini/ [studentprofiles] path = /var/FSHost/students/profiles max connections = 0 admin users = @"Domain Admins" root valid users = @"Domain Users" browseable = no writeable = yes public = yes available = yes hide unreadable = yes access based share enum = yes force group = "Domain Users" # Windows will fail sync if it cannot write files!
  21. Cheers will take read tomorrow the current server is running samba3 but will be running samba4 on the new ones
  22. Over half term we are looking to move to a centralised storage solution using a HP p200g3 and additional shelf for around 38tb storage space. We have been trialling the use of samba with a few of intake years and soo far all has worked well besides their login speeds. If their profiles are on the samba share it can take them up to 10 minutes to login even with minimal profile size. As soon as the profiles are moved back to windows they instantly speed up. We have noticed that the samba processes seem to hang frequently on the server. Does any one else use a samba share to store their profiles? DO you find any issues with it? Any ideas why we might be experiencing this?
  23. I did that! not the brightest moment ive had
  24. samsung ones come highly recommended had a batch of 200 pcs come with OCZs thankfully getting them swapped for crucial or samsung as they die off
