Hi All, Anyone heard of an app that can monitor S.M.A.R.T. across a network? I’m not finding anything with Google. There are Sourceforge tools (https://sourceforge.net/projects/smartmontools/) that run via the command line, so not sure if a script and some capturing of logs might do the trick. We’ve got some 5 year old SSDs in our oldest desktops, and it would be nice to have a heads up of any impending failures. (One has just failed.) On the assumption we’d get any warning… Thanks

Turns out the board is still under warranty. SMART support reckon it's the reflective tape around the inside edges, which is quite discoloured on the bottom edge for some reason. They're sending out more reflective tape.

Hi folks, We have an almost 3 year old SBM680. The board and pen tray light up when USB is connected, but we get no interactivity at all. Our AV supplier has had a look at it, and says the board is essentially faulty and has to be completely replaced. Just double checking if this is definitely the case, or whether all options have been explored? Not great to be throwing away £1000 worth of kit after 3 years. Thanks

We have a Loxit case that some of our tablets get charged in, but it's so big and heavy. The collapsible crate we were using is OK, but ultimately has proven to be too flimsy. Hi folks, Has anyone come across a particularly good solution for transporting (16) tablets across site? We have been using this for 6 months, but the handle has broken https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B014T9NP18 We aren't worried about it being collapsible, but we do need to be able to get/carry it up stairs. We're just after something robust. Thanks

Certainly annoying to get one answer, then a different answer. My pet peeve is people that won't say "don't know" when they don't know, although I guess there's a chance that in the last day or two they've got a different set of drivers.

We got the touchscreen working. My colleague contacted Linx and they sent *another* set of drivers, after telling me there was no solution. These are an updated set for the Linx 10v64. This has a driver called "SileadTouchDriver". In Device Manager you need to point to the device under Human Interface Devices > KMDF HID Minidriver for Touch I2C Device manually to the driver folder, as a driver update. Then follow the other instruction that Linx send, to copy the file "SileadTouch.fw" to c:/windows/system32/drivers, and reboot.

They certainly didn't used to, not sure about now. I'm debating whether to try weekly or fortnightly archive jobs with Veeam to a spare NAS, then use CrashPlan at appropriate intervals to back that up. It's a question of how long it will take to back up 4-5 TB.

Hi folks, We're trying to create a UEFI USB memory stick install of the Win 10 Education ISO, specifically the 32 bit version. We've done this before with a utility that none of us can remember the name of (for the 64 bit version) that works without problems. We've tried Rufus and Yumi, but neither are working - we can't boot from the memory stick. Any recommended programs to create this? Thanks

@timbo343: We found a Goodix driver among the drivers sent from Linx, but the installer says there's a problem. I've tried just the INF file, but it still doesn't work. As mentioned above, we're debating whether to put the factory image back on to just check it works, and see if we can spot what the difference is. Potentially that it's Win 10 32 bit!

@Norphy: Unfortunately we just have the one, but we're debating whether to reinstall the factory image. The user really wants the touchscreen to work.

To follow up, Linx support say the touchscreen doesn't work on Win 10 Pro editions (including Education it seems). Bizarre!

OK, Linx have sent through the drivers so the audio issue is solved. Now trying to identify what is the touchscreen driver...

Hi folks, We've just flattened and reinstalled a Linx 10V64 with Win 10 Education, only to discover that it doesn't pick up a lot of the drivers. I've found most at linxtablet .co .uk, but the touchscreen and audio are still not working. By chance does anyone have the drivers for these? So far nil response from Linx support. Thanks

I'm in the middle of writing up a proper list, to see if Group Policy is an alternative, if there's no software to do it. Once I have that list I'll post it here (when I get a chance to do it!). I've got two major projects this academic year, to swap to a Ranger alternative (or get rid of it and use group policy, albeit with some print and remote access software), and setup Config Manager to deploy PCs. Lots to do!

@SHimmer45 I wouldn't want to risk the situation where a Win 10 update comes along and breaks Ranger. I didn't think NetSupport had much in the way of LAN Ranger's functionality? I appreciate that Ranger Remote is essentially their remote control product. I forget how much RM's Community Connect had in the way of similar LAN Ranger functionality, but I know that it didn't have everything.

Hi folks, As presumably all RM Ranger users will be aware, it's going end of life in the Summer. Ranger Remote and Ranger Print Manager have some obvious replacements, but not so much with LAN Ranger. LAN Ranger has a ton of useful features e.g. - logging both PC and user activity on the network, which has been useful in searching on historical issues - taking timed screenshots of problem users - custom start menus - a one-stop-shop for enforcing a lot of security I know I can do some of this with Group Policy, but I just liked the simplicity of doing it with Ranger, and will really miss it. RM are trying to sell us Community Connect (CC) as a replacement. I'd be very interested to hear from other users that have moved from Ranger to CC, and what's different, and what's better, and also worse. I've had one general demo, and there were some things that it doesn't replace. Are there other products out there that have this functionality? I'm aware of Impero and NetSupport, but interested to hear of anything else. Thanks

We ended up getting the Vitai VDG-380 radios, which are digital. They cover our site without issue. The 8800s were nowhere near good enough to cover our site, so beware those with big sites! Kudos to Two Way Radio who were very helpful https://www.twoway-radio.co.uk/

This seems to be a mix of distance and structures between the radios. The more structures, the more muffled it gets. The more distance, the more interference on the radio. A shame, as I'd hoped these would easily cover our site.

We've just bought some Vitai 8800's from Two Way Radio, and the audio quality is very poor, muffled, to the point where we almost can't hear what the other person is saying. Anyone else experienced this? We're following up with Two Way Radio.
