Hi folks, I've had the request here for what is probably a tablet - something lightweight but that can be protected (bumper case?) that will allow a couple of SEN students with some physical limitations to write during lessons, so it would need a stylus. My immediate thought was a Microsoft Surface, but are there any other options you've come across that have worked particularly well with SEN students? I've been told the more it can do, the better, but that's going to be limited somewhat by the above criteria. Thanks

Hi folks, We've had the request here for offsite SIMS access, for trips and sports fixtures. We have SLG, but are there any other recommended (or not recommended) methods of accessing SIMS remotely? Pros and cons over SLG? Thanks

We've asked our reseller to feed this back to Adobe, that the pricing is unaffordable for our school. We were told several schools have said this, and they've fed it back. Adobe should take a leaf out of Autodesk's book, who provide the software for free.

To confirm, Adobe have canned EEA, and are only offering the device licensing for schools. We can't upgrade to Creative Cloud if they don't reintroduce something akin to EEA.

Although based on the quote from that site: "The price for this is comparable to the EEA site license depending on the size of your school." This is most definitely not the case. The K12 agreement for us is 4x the cost. A couple of dealers I spoke with reckon EEA will be replaced with something else, but if they don't it will make Adobe CC unaffordable for large schools.

Having spoken to several other dealers, it seems likely that the current EEA will end early next year. But it also seems that it will be replaced by a similar product. My thinking is that if Adobe don't replace it with a similarly priced product then we aren't going to upgrade anyway, as they will price themselves out of this particular market.

We've been told that as long as we keep extending the EEA it won't come to an end (!). For a school like ours - 85 FTE according to the EEA formula, versus 500 PCs - the EEA is MUCH cheaper. The K12 agreement is unaffordable for us. What worries me is (a) the dealer is lying and (b) the EEA *will* come to an end, leaving us up s**t creek.

We had asked the reseller to keep us advised if there were changes, as we didn't want to get disadvantaged ahead of April, but knowing what sales people are like...

Hi folks, We've been looking at getting the Adobe CC EEA for our school (it's the most cost effective of the various options). We had planned to get the EEA at the start of next FY (April), but our Adobe reseller has said that the EEA is being dropped from the 6th Jan (!). The alternative is the K12 agreement, which is much more expensive for us (4x). I've tried another reseller, but they have no information that the EEA is being dropped. Is anyone else aware of this? TIA

Isn't is supposed to have moved from right to left though, rather than left to right? Assuming we're talking about the app button with the nine dots in it.

Why don't they have a simple status page that doesn't require logging in *facepalm* (assuming anyone updates it)

This turned out to be ESET anti-virus. Both the v5 and v6 ESET ERA endpoints are stopping shadowcopies for some reason on this VM. We're just about to test a bug fix from ESET.

Managed to find the install the consultant used, SCEPInstall.exe. As to where that comes from...

Ah yes, I seem to find a handful of those, but the download is huge! 1GB+ I was assuming those were server installs, but perhaps this is the client?!...

Hi All, Is System Center Endpoint Protection available as a separate download? I thought it was only deployed via SCCM, but an external consultant setup a couple of servers and has installed it separately it seems (on 2012 R2 servers). (We have licenses for it via EEA, but I can't spot the endpoint obviously available as a download.) TIA

Having spent some weeks back and forth with Veeam support, the issue is either with the host, the VM, or both, as disk shadows are not working properly. Typically if I reboot the VM I can get one disk shadow, and then successive attempts fail. The Hyper-V Volume Shadow Copy Requestor service on the VM will also fail at this point, and I can't stop/restart it. I'm working with our thirdline support to try and figure out what the problem is, but nothing so far.

We've started buying Promethean touchscreens because they're markedly cheaper than SMART. Their software isn't quite as good as SMART's, but it's OK. It's just annoying to run two different software solutions. We are paying for the Notebook subscription because we wanted to try and stick with just the one bit of software, but I'd already spotted that Smart Ink wasn't working on non-SMART hardware.

Yep, that's the site I'm using. From what I understood with Windows 10 there was a backend issue in attributing which accounts had permissions to certain downloads.

So you could both open the same O365 document and edit it at the same time, using an Office 2016 application?

Hi folks, A purported feature of Office 2016 was that it would allow multi-user editing of Office 365 documents, much like the web version does. Except that it doesn't work, it only allows a single user to open an O365 document. Am I missing something here, has anyone got this to work?

I rang MS. There are again apparently issues with making the download available that they are aiming to fix over the weekend. I've logged a case and they're supposed to update on Monday...

Still no download. I rang them yesterday and was told it would be arriving yesterday *facepalm*
