  1. I have the same on a Win 2019 server that runs once a week because of some software that seems to slow it down, and that's working fine. It was added manually with "run whether user is logged or or not" set. What does the history tab shows? That's where I start with troubleshooting scheduled tasks.
  2. Isn't it that the desktop apps are unsupported, so not necessarily unsuable? it's a risk though. I find the Teams desktop app is better for meeting at least, if you want immediate chat etc.
  3. Resolved, I think. The ADR is set to run on second Tuesday, and I suspect it missed the Nov 11 cumulative update (KB5068781) because it was the same day. So I’ve tweaked the rule to run second Wednesday and manually deployed KB5068781 for now. There’s another patch out for Win 10 ESU machines, KB5072653, but I can see in the ADR preview that it’s picking it up, so I will let that install when it next runs.
  4. Hi folks, I haven't paid much attention to cumulative updates being deployed with MEMCM's automatic deployment rules (ADR) before, but I've noticed that they don't seem to be picked up. The ADR is set to pick updates that are classified as "Critical Updates", "Definition Updates", "Security Updates", "Update Rollups", and "Updates". Classifications that aren't picked are "Feature Packs", "Service Packs", "Tools", and "Upgrades". Anyone know what classification the CUs fall under, if any of those? Or can CUs only be deployed manually via MEMCM? The related objective is that I'd like to automate the updateing of our Win 10 ESU machines with the CUs that seem to be coming so far. Thanks in advance for any help.
  5. LX have apparently been replaced by the LE. I'd not heard of the LX, but apparently Promethean made them sufficiently poor that they hoped they would be ignored and the higher end models would be bought. I'll ask about speaker power in the LE.
  6. So we definitely have an OPS, and apparently it might be the OPA 2 module. I need to test by putting the HDMI and USB cables directly into that, along with a setting change, and then I can still use annotation. Once I've tested I'll confirm either way. We're also going to look into these LE models and see if they're good enough for future purchases.
  7. I definitely spotted a whiteboard feature (and this OPS input), but not annotation of anything on other inputs. Will investigate next week...
  8. Yep, I naively assumed features wouldn't have been removed, but I've still to look at the panel in anger...
  9. I've spotted we have an input on the screen described as "OPS" so I wonder if it was purchase with the OPS unit. I didn't have much time with it, but can hopefully get to the screen early next week and do some more investigation. I've pinged Promethean support an email as well to see if they could shed any light on whether these features are available. A 1080p screen (to overcome cable length issues) with whiteboard, built-in annotation, and a timer app and 99% of our teachers would be happy.
  10. Hi folks, We've just had a Promethean ActivPanel 10 installed in a classroom, which I naively thought would be much like an 8. The side and bottom menus seem to have gone, which had the really useful annotate feature, along with access to the Locker and timer apps. I've looked through some Promethean videos and their support pages but am none the wiser really as to whether these are still features, although it suggests they've offloaded it to the PC and you're expected to use their Windows app. We do have something called "OPS" as an input (I'm assuming Open Pluggable Specification) so possibly an Android module that can have these features installed. I'll drop their support an email anyway and ask the question, but anyone know if these features are now offloaded or still available somewhere? It will be a shame if the immediate annotation feature has gone, along with the timer app etc.

    What to do...

Out of interest, how much work is involved? We've got 16x 2017 Intel iMacs that are about to go end of support life, and although we won't use them in-school, we've also got the same dilemma as the OP of what to do with them.
  12. I remember trying a bunch of folder site utilities at the time. I forget whether I was able to separate out a specific folder, but at the time I wasn't able to discern what was causing it, let alone delete it. If it happens again I'll try that app. Thankfully, with the combination of the relatively easy OS reinstall and Mosyle MDM it wasn't vastly time consuming to rebuild the machines we have.
  13. Same here. My best guess for us was that a Logic update seemed to leave the entirety of the previous version behind. But unlike a Windows PC, I couldn't find any way of spotting it, let alone deleting it. We also had to wipe and reinstall, complicated by having to be 100% sure we'd backed up profiles from GCSE students. Suffice to say our next Macs will have 512GB disks!
  14. (Although Steve21's suggestion is a great alternative)
  15. Thanks Sally. As feedback for product management, it would be super helpful if us admins could be proactively advised of updates e.g. an RSS feed, subscription email etc.
  16. Hi folks, Whether coincidental or not, since the Smoothwall Maiden 33 update I can't login to Feedly.com, which is super useful for RSS monitoring. We're on a VMB connection, but feedly.com is fine outside the school, whether on mobiel data or a home VM connection. Just checking if anyone else happens to use Feedly.com, has also updated their Smoothwall, and has the same issue? Thanks
  17. Heh. I'm hopeful that there's an RSS feed. There's mention of RSS in the kb, but I think it's their own version of it rather than an actual RSS feed. And as feedly.com is down, at least on the school VMB connection, I can't check at the moment.
  18. Hi folks, Since moving away from our county support we weren't being notified that updates were available. ESS support said to subscribe to a kb article to get warned of updates, but since the switch to the parent pay portal there doesn't seem to be a way to subscribe to the equivalent kb article. Is there an official (or unofficial) way to get advised of updates, short of checking the SOLUS console? Thanks
  19. If you figure out a script it would be fab if you could share it! 😃
  20. There may be ways to do it with MDM scripts, but I couldn't find any other way of doing it when we had the issue a year or two ago. We checked with the teachers whether any user folders had to be kept e.g. GCSE work, and then manually deleted all the others. We use MDM to map to the students' home folders on the server, so they're supposed to save all work there anyway. We have Logic installed on our Macs, and after a version change it seemed to reinstall itself, leaving 80GB+ files somewhere on the disk that couldn't be removed in any straightforward way, so we ended up having to wipe them as well because they were filling up so quickly. That meant ensuring that all students doing exam work had to have their user folders backed up, another can of worms! Very much a case of come back Windows, all is forgiven!
  21. KB5046613 is just the Nov 24 CU, no? https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Search.aspx?q=KB5046613 As above, I applied the latest CU. Without it the MAK gave an error when trying to apply. I think it's a case of seeing if further security updates apply. I've got a Win 10 machine at home which is enrolled in the free updates, so my plan is to keep an eye on what that gets and see whether it's reflected on the machines here. It's further complicated here by updates coming via MEMCM, but that's still set to pick up Win 10 updates and apply them.
  22. I'm now wondering if I really did see the "end of support" message disappear, as I've had it remain with further machines. Probably comes down to it being badly setup by Microsoft.
  23. In case it helps your provider find it, in the 365 license centre it's called "Windows 10 ESU Year 1 (2025 - 2026)".
  24. We asked for one year and were (eventually) told we could have it, £1/PC/first year.
  25. Hi folks, What are you using for wiping PCs? We’ve used DBAN, but that rarely works now, and subsequently the Eraser app within Hiren when DBAN doesn’t work. Anything better out there? (I know the e-waste people are supposed to wipe them, but I don’t trust ‘em for staff machines) Thanks
