Hi all, Not a mac person but had below query from one member of staff and have no idea where start there is currently an issue with the arts time capsule in the media hub. Only 20 out of the 27 students in my class could log onto the arts time capsule today. Is it possible to automatically log off students and staff from the arts time capsule when they log off? I was thinking this would stop congestion. Also what is the maximum number able to access the capsule? I ask this because there were 27 students and 2 teachers using the macs at this time, so really there shouldn't have been a problem. Can you guys shed some light on this please?

Hi all We do thick clients at our school and deploy via MDT. We currently have Roaming apps folder redirected setup. I was wondering what is the best way to configure start menu for all users? I read somewhere that due to roaming apps Redirect start menu wont work. so what options do i have? I have seen powershell scripts to remove random stuff from start menu etc. If i run this during image creation do i need to also have this as start up script?

we want to keep .org for new users bu also want if someone sends email with .co.uk then them to be able to receive it. Thanks will have hunt for the powershell script for proxyaddress

Hi all We have a school email working fine which is domain.org Head has asked to buy another domain and have .co.uk to work too In office 365 its all working fine as in DNS showing ok. When i send emails to .co.uk it bounces back. After researching i found i need to add email address to proxy email in AD attribute tab - after adding here for test users it works fine. What is the quickest way to get this done for all users and how will this affect any new users, will that domain also be added automatically or am i doing this wrong and there is a easier way?

Hi all This maybe a silly question but head teacher has asked to have offline files in desktop. at present desktop is re-directed to our file servers for all staff I was looking for simple way for either just him or all staff to have files saved on desktop and on server so its always backed up. Which is the easiest way to achieve this if possible? thanks

Hi all Need some advice, i have request from teacher who wants tablets. She wants so the users canshare the answers to the promethean screen during lesson. Is this something that promeathean provides or do we need 3rd party solution for this? Thanks

I believe that staff is administrator somehow, but we manage it via profile manager on server(if that's correct terminology).

Hi guys We have some macs on domain and having real issue with one staff. Every now and then the icloud gets unticked and as result the machine gets very slow whilst it syncs with icloud to download everything. At times he has said the button does not untick but seems like its doing full sync on the mac and this makes mac unusable. I had look on server but unable to locate anything that shows we are unticking icloud in the mac server policies. Any ideas what i can do? sorry not a mac expert so very limited experience

Hi All any good users on activ inspire We have one flipchart by user, on the left it displays all the charts, with images text etc When we click on those charts, the bigger window is showing blank. Its keeping the background colour but no text images or anything. Any ideas what this can be? i can usually install and uninstall but this is something out of my league ! lol

I am in process of creating a new image. Our current image has windows 10 and has all software's installed for whole school. What process do you guys take usually? do you put all software part of image or as a separate install via GPO or SCCM? I have not used MDT before so am i right below is correct process? If not can you advice where i need to tweak? 1) In a clean machine install windows 2) Windows updates 3) configure, e.g start menu desktop, clean up remove apps etc 4) Install all software's 5) Final checks/test all software runs etc 6) Export to MDT - Can someone send me guide on how to do this step if this is case?

hi all Joined here recently at a school and noticed windows updates have not been done since 2017!! I can see version is 1709 for windows 10 Even servers have not been updated for sometime. We use SCCM but thinking to use WSUS for this Whats best way you would do this? would you just approve all and let it do it thing or stagger the updates?

interesting, its stored in net logon folder, i have other file association that has worked for them in past just not this one, have given student read access and will see bit later if that was the culprit ! lol thanks

Hi all we have blocked Edge on site. When a student logs in any pdf is opened by edge. In file associations we have made sure PDF is opened by acrobat, but seems when student logs on default is still edge. See below, only one thing to note is towards bottom READ i assumed is also pdf reader so amended that as earlier it was set to Edge. Any ideas what i need to change?

Hi all This can be a stupid question I have folder redirection setup for all users here. the setting is based on advanced setting on creating folder based on intake security groups. under settings i have move the content of document... Ticked and leave the folder in the new location... Ticked Issue When a student logs in and goes to save any files they get the local documents folder on pop up as default than the home drive. Is there anyway i can make home drive as default for all students?

no joy, sync did say success but the users within the group are not syncing. Its blank in office 365 i did read somewhere that this is not possible and apparantly groups would sync but not the members of that group. has this worked with you?

tried that already, i have added users to a group in AD is universal and have email field set The sync happens but only syncs the group, not the users that are in the group.

Hi alll does any one know or a pointer on a powershell script to bulk add mmbers to office 365 group or Ad synced group I have created a distribution group in AD with all our primary students, but its only syncing group and not the members. so i need to manually add members to group. I thought there must be some powershell command for it?

one thing i noticed was in members of that distribution list, i am unable to locate the AD security groups, could this be the reason? my security groups seems are not automativally synced. I had to go in Attribute of the distribution list to make it sync to Office 365 not sure if its same for this

So manage to get time to do this yesterday. Created a Universal distribution group in AD - Added the releveant groups to it In office 365 created a new rule - The recipent is located - Outside the organisation and the sender is member off (the distribution group i created in AD) Do the following - delete the message without notifying anyone After the above, i have been testing by sending email to a test student via my gmail account and test student can send emails and receive externally. So seems like this is not working, any ideas?

If i add group to the AD OU for year y students for example like Year 7 group. How can i implement that within office 365 exchange portal? would that still be under mail flow - rules or somewhere else? As within mail flow rules i was not able to find anywhere where i can implement the security group to block external mails?

Hi all I have request to allow 9-11 to send emails within internal and external but 7 and 8 just internal only. I have year groups differentiated via OU than security groups. Within Office 365 portal can i set this up with OU or do i need to manually select users? or is there easy way to do this that i have not thought off? as in portal i see all users in one big list?

We do have HP machines Its not power settings because i can login and straight away if i touch screen it will just lock out. If i unlock and touch screen again it will lock again so only happens if i touch promethean screen. If i move mouse and type anything on keyboard, it does not lock. I will have look at the HP links. I can see HP Image Enhancement for System Logon resolves the issue for few users on link but that software is not listed under the model of PC we have. HP ProDesk 400 G3. We have updated chipset etc but will have look to see if i can do anything else Thanks

Hi all we have windows 10 on desktops and promethean active panel screens all over I have 5 or so classrooms where soon as user touches the screen it just locks out the user and they have to log back on. It doesnt fully log them off just locks the screen. Desktops have latest windows updates, the board has latest firmware and and software installed. Has anyone had this issue in past or know what can be causing this? We have rebuilt machine and even swapped desktops and place in a working room and come to conclusion its something with board that's causing the issue as a working
