Hi all have weird issue, staff have been saying remote login has become very slow! When i MSTSC from server it seems to login instantly, but when staff use freedom2roam it takes long time at times 30mins. LGFL have said nothing there end, i have given the machine 64gb memory and 20VP but its still very sluggish! I have seen some users and it seems it does applying settings etc then just sticks on black screen, no sign or nothing then suddenly after 15-20mins you see the start menu appear. There is only 2-3 users logged in at present and can see its very slow, have done delprof too. Any ideas?

Hi all we have Imac 21.5 inch late 2015 Have installed OS El Capitan at present version 10.11.6. We are trying to get it to 10.15 but every time we do check for updates shows no updates availble. Is El Capitan the max update? We are updating as we need to install adobe cloud which requires version 10.14 minimum Arts dept have gone ahead and purchased software without any discussion with IT if it be compatible and now we stuck with this!

Thanks, found the reason why, those machines was in the older versions of one drive, updates not done since 1702 or something, full update to 22h2 and i can now see the ADM files - Thanks for your help

The school want to know how easy it would be to change display names on M365 outlook to show emails from ' Mr T Hughes', rather than 'Tom Hughes'. Currently using Ruler to sync from sims to office 365 Whats best way to get this changed? Can we just make changes on 365 display Name and hope that Ruler wont over write the changes that we have made?

Ive tried that already, there is no ADM folder for me to extract the adm files from sadly

Hi all Our Server 2016 doesn't have one drive policies. tried from https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=49030 but no one drive policies there unless its hidden within the other adm files Tried from AppData\Local\Microsoft\OneDrive\17.3.6 but again no ADM folder/file too Any other pointers please?

Hi all I have a school where user account creation in Gsuite is in 2 OU, one staff and one student. under student there is no groups just one long list! We have groups for each classes. Requirement, school have told me to have one password for each year groups. When i exported the student list, there is no mention of groups so cant change password there, in groups i can see classes but unable to reset password. What alternatives do i have other than going one by one?

Hi all our head is using up 50gb of her office 365 allowance and is on 99% at present. I have purchased a A3 license as they give 100GB I have never done this before but is it case of unticking a1 and ticking a3 and job done? As its for headteacher wanted to be sure before i do anything! thanks

Stupid question, where is apps and services? is it a folder or settings within windows 10?

yep tried flushing dns, ipconfig release/renew, inc netsh reset, restart but no joy. Its only outlook thats showing no internet, chrome, edge etc works fine.

We had Internet issues today morning with DNS issue on the LGFL router, this issue is now resolved. But i have now 4 devices where outlook would not connect online. The taskbar internet icon says no internet but there is internet. I can ping all websites and can access them Last time we had 2 of these devices, I had to reimage the machines. Has anyone encountered this? and quick fix to avoid reimage - usually wouldn't mind if its classroom but they office staff!

Just got off call to LGFL it was a misconfig of DNS on their router. They made some amendments and thats done the trick.

Hi all I have weird issue, internet seems to be down for all clients. Wireless and wired. Internet works fine on the DC server but just not on end clients or any other servers. Its a flat network. I have restarted the DC. Cleared DNS but no joy, Any ideas/pointers? all other services are working perfectly fine it just seems to be internet. On chrome do get alerts of dns probe issue but dns seems to be working ok on the DC Thanks

Hi all I look after a primary school, users are created manually at present and has been all created in the USERS ou, no year groups or classes! School has requested we organised this in year group and classes (whatever is easier). As currently all users in one ou, what is best way to split this up to year groups then class?

Hi all School i support is near 10gb for the SQL DB. We have purchased the sql 2016 full version (as recommended by ESS) WHats best way to migrate the DB from Express to full. Would i get option during install to migrate?

Hi all After some advice pointers Problem - All laptops currently have offline feature enabled - Start menu and desktop icons are redirected. So need offline enabled for users to take device home and access shortcuts/start menu - At present we get loads of users complaining they cant download files as their offline quota is maxed out. We have to keep increasing or delete temp files Solutions - We are looking to migrate the users to one drive, so their home drive does not have sync issues. We have got the users to copy all data to one drive but what is best way so windows 10 devices know one drive is the home drive, so if they download anything it goes to one drive and not the profile downloads folder Another issue is, only classroom teachers are currently being migrated to one drive, admin, SLT guys are still using the old system so we cant change the folder redirection for all in one go. I was looking to make the home drive read only or deny but we had sims issue so had to re-enable it. Any ideas on how i can overcome these issues?

Hi all Any cisco meraki gurus here? i am trying to setup the cisco meraki for DHCP IP helper as our WDS boot is failing. IF it was a switch i can just putty and add in ip helper etc but as its web based i am struggling to find where to put this and how! Any pointers please?

Hi all Our DC1 that has DHCP has tendency to go down often - we have plans to upgrade it but wont be till easter due to budgets Can we install DHCP on DC2 as well so can work as failover if DC1 goes down? I was under assumption you can but it will have to be another subnet but not sure if we can have copy of DHCP on another server thanks

I sadly did all drivers that were in the dell driver deployment packs. Can i delete all drivers and just import ones above then?

I have managed to create a new image, captured via WDS, imported to MDT On MDT imported new drivers as have some new machines. Regen the boot file, compressed and from WDS did a replace When i now boot up to WDS i get below error. I get this on a test VM and physical desktop/laptop. Have i missed anything? it used to work fine before so assuming linked to driver update and updating the boot image as i cant get as far as loading MDT so dies within WDS

First thing i was told was the school has 30 laptops which was purchased year ago and nothing was done to it, part of msp agreement was to work on that first as priority. Luckily they are only for classrooms and not for admin staff or teachers so its not end of world if softwares are missing. If i had my way yes i wouldve known network and know what software before i deploy as i feel i have to work on this again after few weeks for either software installs or reimage with the final image. I am tempted to just dploy old image for now even if its 1709 and then reimage after few months once i get the new image sorted and maybe configure wsus for the updates in hope it does the 5 years worth of updates
