Most of the results you're seeing related to minecraft are from a user who does computer game development tutorials. Let me know how you get on.

Are you inspecting HTTPS traffic? The header can't be added to a request that's encrypted if you're not inspecting.

Correct. In my experience, random shutdowns are usually hardware related, power supply and cooling are the most likely culprits, followed by a dodgy motherboard. A good way to check it's not your operating system being daft is to boot a liveCD (Ubuntu and it's derivatives are good for this) and see if the behaviour repeats.

Just tested this and it really should be as simple as blocking deviantart.com. deviantart.net holds the images, so blocking this should keep stuff out of google image searches. Try custom blocking another site and see if that works. If not it may be worth giving support a call.

You'll need a GTX 660 at least to get an appreciable performance bump from a 280. that's a legendary card. 660 or even a 660Ti if you can stretch that far. How big is your screen?

I can't see the lift itself causing any problems as it's just a big metal box on a string. There are a couple of research papers about lift motors causing interference with some electronic systems though. I think there are some standards relating to this, and if everything lines up in that respect it should be ok. Worst case scenario you could shield the server room, but you would end up with a WiFi / mobile phone deadspot.

If you can live with your current case for a bit longer I'd recommend saving up and really splashing out on a new one. It's the one thing that can stay with you for years, everything else is interchangeable. Good quality cases from Silverstone, Antec, Lian-Li and the like last forever.

The graphs on this page make for interesting viewing. Every 100 points is a 10% performance difference. There's not a lot in it, and it's not something you're going notice. I'd get more slower ram rather than less faster ram.
