OVS-ES licenses are all upgrade licences, so your leased computers should have an OEM sticker on them anyway(to be "legal"). I would be checking if they want them returned wiped or OEM 8.1. For security, I would be securely wiping the hard disks, running something that overwrites all sectors, rather than just a format, and then hopefully finding the OEM 8.1 discs that may or may not have come with the systems(some of that age came with recovery partitions or the option to make a set of restore discs, rather than the physical media.) I can't remember if 8.1 had an OEM specific build or not, or if you can use the volume licencing version. Personally depending how many, I would be buying new hard drives for them, for peace of mind and to keep to the letter of the lease.

I pay £35 ish per handset for colour 7970's now, we used to have 7961's but they are getting scarcer these days. We went with the FreePBX distro, as 3CX is only free up to a point. then you have to pay. Currently 100 odd phyical extensions, 20 soft phones and some analogue faxy and alarmy things, all over 4 sites, with a VPN between them all, works seamlessly A lot of the former asterisk based distros, incrediblePBX, Elastix etc are now going 3CX based, but only free for I think 20 extensions,

Raspberry pi and touchscreen monitor in the kitchen, 3 further pi's with hifiberry DAC's connected to two technics amps running speakers in the ceiling in the kitchen bathroom and garage. Hue and Alexa integration for voice activated lights in the house. Small but perfectly formed

Afternoon all, Are people deploying Office 2016? We have made the decision to upgrade 2010 to 2016 and while dotting my i's and crossing my t's, I came across a few blogs mentioning Click-to-Run, which is self updating, etc. What are the differences, if any? Just watched the first couple of episodes of Iron Fist. The trailers didn't do anything for me so didn't bother, but actually not bad, did have to shout "oh you prat, Danny" once or twice at the screen, so got quite involved in it, would have watched more, but only clicked on it in boredom and it was 10pm already, so 2 then bed.

I've had all the connectors off and cleaned them, and I get a slight spark when I connect the pack up, so that should mean the series connection is complete?

Hi all, Just got around to putting new batteries in our UPS, but now it wont start up kept my finger on the on button for ages. It takes 18 12v motorbike size type batteries and they were new in the box but maybe a year or so old. I assume they are "flat" and need charging before they will support a load, what are my chances of just removing the + and - plugs from each battery and slowly charging them one by one(yawn). They are in series, so I couldn't just attach to each side of the stack, as I would be trying to charge a 216V battery! Its a Chloride PowerLan Green 7KVA floor standing whole room jobby. Really don't want to buy a new UPS Thanks James

If you have OVS-EES with a desktop pack, you have access to Endpoint protection from Microsoft, if that helps any? If you have System Centre, then you also have a console for it, but it can be deployed standalone and controlled via GPO .We ditched Symantec and got it(the Microsoft Endpoint Protection, that is) bundled in with our MS agreement, massive savings abound

Right, only 6 LAG's per switch. Only says 802.3ad, and doesn't specifically mention LACP, which would make things easier. Onto the maths...So my 2 Cisco phone switches are only 100mb, so no lags needed there(2 SFP), my 3 dells = 3 lags(6 SFP), my 96 port HP = 1 lag(4 SFP), interconnect LAG = 1(8 copper(probably overkill, so maybe only 2 CAT6 interconnects), leaves 1 cisco server switch and that's currently a 4 port copper LAG, which can go fiber, so 1 lag(2 SFP(can't remember how many SFP ports, so could be 4). So, all fingers and toes out, 6 SFP on one, 8 SFP on the other, all copper ports used(maybe). Leaves me for future use....3 LAG's on one member plus 4 SFP/3 LAG's left over, and 2 LAG's on the other with 6 SFP/4 LAG's over. Hmmmm could be a goer, 10GB core stack for the £1k mark, who'd a thunk it!

Reviews of the early firmware models slate it for incompatibility on the SFP+ ports and being released before it was ready, which is a Ubiquiti trait, we are the beta testers! think I need some real world stories before dropping the companies coin on one. If they sorted all the problems in the 1.7 firmware and there are some cheapish compatible SX fibre 1GB SFP modules which will work with it and connect up my mishmash of edges(3 dells, 3 ciscos and an HP, eek that's 384 copper ports!), then it could be a stupidly cheap aggregation switch and to think I was looking at £3-£5k on an equivalent big name box(still could be of course!). Now I reread this, if I take 2 fibre ports off each switch I am already at 14, and there's only 12 ports, damn. Are they stackable? 2 of them are still in budget, use the 4 copper ports on each one for a 40GB interconnect and have 24 1GB/10GB fibre ports, crap rabbit hole, I'm off to read the manual!

Afternoon all, I am thinking about bumping our main site to be 10GB capable. Currently we run a HP 4204vl as our main client switch with various other 48 port switches SFP'ed into it. No real core switch, JBOD of 1GB edges really with the modular HP in the middle, so sort of core! I am thinking of a 10GB capable switch with mostly SFP+ gigabit ports, that would move into the core position, and all my edges plug into it, and give us some SFP+ 10GB ports for future use. Anyone know any good switches that are more SFP than copper, and would perform the role? I have seen the HPE 5510 24G SFP 4SFP+ HI (JH149A) 28 Port Switch which has 24 SFP gigabit and 4 SFP+ 10GB, but not sure if only 4 10GB is enough, if that makes sense, once we see the benefits of it? Equalogic PS6100X here with a full compliment of 900GB disks for 14TB of RAID 10'ed useable storage. iSCSI with its own switch. That's a baby SAN and that was quadruple your budget Look at drive shelfs and storage spaces, or just fill your empty slots with new disks, buy decent WD drives and get the caddies on ebay

Oh yes, they f'ed up big time, it was the preferred bike in the first series when they were testing, but they wouldn't do the deal and didn't realise just how much exposure they would have gotten which the BMW's ending up getting!

Have you seen the Ewan McGregor/Charlie Borman series, Long Way Around and Long Way Down, well worth a watch, even though they are a few years old now. Also if you are into mechanics, Mark Evans' numerous is born series are good, 4x4 is born, car is born, car is reborn, plane is born, helicopter is born, bike is born trilogy etc.

2 M300 and 2 M500 here We used to use them years ago, but on the last refresh we weighed up sonicwall against them and sw came out on top for specs and most services, then Dell bought them...I don't think I have seen a firmware update in 18 months, the sonicpoint AP system is a constant thorn in my side, etc, etc.

We have 4 shiny new bright red Watchguards ready to go in, and 4 grey, drab and annoying sonicwalls coming out

Just watch if the prices are per printed page or per impression. the industry likes to use per impression, because pricing is impressive, the black cost is exactly that as it is one impression, but the colour cost is 4 times per page... Probably teaching granny to suck eggs, but worth mentioning
