We have installed ip-cctv at a number of school, we use ip cameras from a company called Mobotix and we install/support them. We have found them to be great quality and provide high-res imagery. You can view their full portfolio on our website. Most of the cameras come with different lens options so you can configure your deployment to your site and needs. Hello @mshill, if you would like to talk about the Ruckus cloud offering then do let me know and I can put you in touch with one of the sales/tech guys that will know all about it. We've had quite a bit of interest in this solution so far. You would be able to manage your entire deployment through the Ruckus vSCG appliance. We can also give you access to a demo account on our vSCG box so you could get a feel of the platform and what you're able to see/do etc

Out of the two we would always suggest Ruckus, admittedly we're going to be a little bit biased On these forums you have both us and @CPLTD that are top tier Ruckus partners, if you're thinking of going with Ruckus, either of us will be a great place to start. Best advice is to trial both solutions and see which you prefer. Surveys will also be useful. If you get a predictive survey make sure the company is using some professional predictive Wi-Fi planning software, for example we use Ekahau and have found it to be incredibly accurate - although predictive.

Hi @forkies, as Dos_Box said two of the areas we have specialised in are wireless and ip-cctv solutions, we have a preferred manufacturer for both. The Net-Ctrl team will be there all week on stand C73. We will also have Ruckus, Fortinet, Mobotix, Netgenium, Aperio, Synology and Allied Telesis with us throughout the week. After 1700 each day there will also be beer available on the stand

Ruckus Wireless Announce New ZoneDirector 1200

We've had a power cut in the office so our site is currently offline which could be the cause of the problem. As far as i'm aware we haven't received any indication of it going EOL any time soon. We have been told there will be an upgrade programme available for clients with the older units, however no details have been disclosed to us at the moment. The 1200 is also going to be on the current ZoneDirector promotion for education sites to take advantage of so you will save a good chunk off the RRP. As long as the partner you're dealing with has deal registration with Ruckus anyway. -
The Ruckus Wireless ZoneDirector 1200 is Ruckus’ new centrally managed Smart Wireless LAN (WLAN) system. The Ruckus ZoneDirector 1200 can be deployed and operated by non-wireless experts and installed quickly and easily. Hello, I'm in need of a bit of advice from you all. I’m currently putting together an IP-CCTV training day for people working in education and I need to confirm some dates. This is going to most likely be in Feb, when I know there is a half term. Typically, what days would work better for you to attend something like this? Would the week before/after the half term work better or worse for you? Or is it simply a case-by-case basis? Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks, Josh

As @jszkudlapski said the best practise is to have the APs ceiling mounted especially with the 7363 /7343 APs due to their single polarization. The new R range and 7373/7982 APs are dual polarized – the AP will flip the signal polarity to match that of the clients, resulting in greater signal. So, you can get away with having them wall mounted a little bit more. However ceiling height should be taken into consideration as well – I this ceiling is too high the signal will be poor (i.e ~60ft etc…) Wall mount is best practise for high dense large areas… i.e 10 plus APs in a hall should be mounted lower so people cause attenuation on the signal… better yet have the APs mounted on the external walls of the room needing the signal. The recommendation for ceiling mount comes from the AP’s antenna alignments as increased signal propagation comes from the sides of the AP and not the front / back however with that said if the AP is to cover a signal or two rooms a wall mount (if no other option is available) is not going to cause serious/ if any issue at all. There is also the option to wall mount an AP horizontally, which is a good option if cabling/celing restrictions come into play. -

There certainly is a lot of smaller companies that are brilliant and offer a great service, and this isn't aimed at those companies at all. We have just noticed an increase on what we would call 'box shifters' that look to sell a product on quickly, with no knowledge of it at all. More often than not, they sell the wrong item, wrong quantities or bodge the install. -
Recently we have received calls for help from Ruckus customers who did not purchase their equipment from Net-Ctrl. It appears in many cases that their reseller may have incorrectly sold the solution, didn’t undertake an accurate survey, or poorly installed the equipment. The rise in popularity with Ruckus in education has resulted in a large number of resellers adding the solution to their portfolio, without fully knowing how to support, install or sell it. What we would always advise, with any company is checking their credentials (I’m sure this would come as second nature anyway): • How many engineers do they have to support you? • Can they provide wireless site surveys? • How long have they supplied the solution? • How many Ruckus customers do they have? • What partner level are they? • How long has the partner been in business? Both Net-Ctrl and @CPLTD, who operate on this forum, are top tier Ruckus partners, which isn’t an easy feat to achieve. We’re two of only a very select few in the UK. What this means is that we will have access to the best price possible, but it also means that Ruckus recognise that we have a number of engineers to support you, that we have supplied the product for a great number of year, have a large number of customers using the solution and have passed all their relevant tests and accreditations. So make sure you cause a Ruckus the right way, so you can bask in the glory of having awesome, problem free, WiFi!

With BETT now just over a month away (I can’t believe we’re here already) I wanted to write a quick post of who we will be having on our stand this year and what you can expect to see from us. First things first, the important bit, we will be on stand C73. If you’re trying to find us just look for the big Net-Ctrl and Ruckus balloons again . We will be joined by Ruckus Wireless, Fortinet, Mobotix, Netgenium and Aperio. There will a wide range of kit on the stand; the majority will be operational so you can see the different technologies in action. This year we’re taking a slightly different approach, a third of our stand is being taken over by our integrated security solutions including IP-CCTV, wireless locks, IP PoE access control, IP PoE intelligent lighting, IP PoE intelligent audio and IP video door entry systems. We’re pretty excited about these solutions and what they’re capable of achieving together. This is all being support on the stand by Synology storage and Allied Telesis switches. Ruckus Wireless will be joining us again, we will have their new 11ac access points on the stand, and there is also a new ZoneDirector that we’re hoping to show you all. Finally, we have recently partnered with Fortinet, specifically to provide their Fortigate firewall as an alternative option to Palo Alto Networks. There will be tech and sales support for each solution and demos will be available where possible. Any questions, please feel free to ask. We all look forward to seeing you there again.

Their sales blurb will be much more informative than me at the moment If you're coming to BETT we will be having some of their solution live on our stand (C73). We will be running a whole host of integrated security solutions off it so you can see it in action. There will also be people on hand to answer any questions.

They're very new to the company, and i personally haven't dealt with them much. The partnership all came about with how they integrate with our Mobotix Ip-CCTV and Netgenium access control solutions. A few of the sales managers met with them a few weeks ago, and were impressed with what they saw. Apparently its interesting how they distribute power and how they handle multiple products requiring different PoE elements. So i'm told anyway

We’re a Juniper Networks house. Although they do come out expensive when looking at their RRP we have designed and built some great packages for education sites with a great saving off the RRP – beating HP on price. From past experience it really depends on the project to have much we can get off the price for you. We also have just taken on Allied Telesis and their switching solution as well. If you had a budget in mind, and would be interested in either solution let me know and I can pass it to one of the sales team to look into for you, and send over some info.

It was meant as a constructive question, promise I'm interested to hear how schools are securing their virtual environments. We do have a solution for it, but it's always good to know the other routes schools are taking with it.

Would you be interested in us pitching a Ruckus project for your requirement, just so you have another option to consider? From our experience we don't normally come out any more expensive than Xirrus or Aerohive, plus there are a number of offers we can look to take advantage of for you.

Hello, This is most likely down to your access control list (ACL) that the Guests WLAN is applying. If you have a proxy set-up the IP could be being denied in the Guest ACL. Thanks, Josh
