I thought the Rey thing was actually really good... I loved the way she closed her eyes and got an inner force (whateva). If you look at the abysmal 1/2/3 the light saber battles where just acrobats spinning around, she didnt have much grace when she fought.... and she alrready used a staff. And I am glad the did in HIM, I imagine it will have be one of the reasons the baddie becomes a reall baddie. Didnt like the LOTR ending, would have prefered him to look around for a split second then finish... felt very much like Empire at the end. All in all, 1 trillion time better than 1/2/3 and lots of fun... actually laughed a few times too. The 2 leads were excellent although Rey is quite similar to Amidala....coincidence? Wonder if one of her hand maidens had a quickie with Anakin???

Hi, We have started having issues with our laser cutter, all of a sudden it started going doolaly and not lasering. When a new job is sent to the laser cutter now it says on the software 'homing' then 'pause' then 'homing' and continues in a loop. The device moves horizontally about 6 inch then back as it cycles through the commands. I have reinstalled the software, updated it and replaced the USB cable... and tried a different machine but its doing the same on each one so I am thinking its the laser cutter itself. Its been turned off for 10 minutes too. Anyone seen this issue? We haven't had it serviced few yonks so probably could do with that too.. can anyone suggest a company to do this?

Went back and played Half Life 2 on my laptop, still love that sound the enemy soldier make when they talk.

So I have dismantled 4 and given them a good clean.. the stuff on the USB sockets looks like that stuff you get round car batteries when they leaked which is what I meant... has a very funny taste so don't lick it. First one I got to boot up but says the OS is missing.. tried the recovery USB but says there is an error. The worst bit of the 'burn' on the board seems to be in the ribbon for the trackpad... although I removed the plastic heatpad and another chip was covered in black stuff Second one doesn't show any lights when I plug in the charger, there is a bit of copper coloured metal showing next to the power connector on the board... not sure if its melted but I think that's the culprit. Third one is drying out but I think the battery connector is bad Revived the fourth one though, cleaned up the board and swapped the battery, the connectors on the battery and really black so will try and scrub all the crap out of them. 25% success rate so far.

Morning, I am wanting to use MESH on one bit of network where I don't have time to run cable. The warning when you enable it says that 802.1x gets disabled if you deploy it. Does it disable it on all the nodes or just the nodes you use in the mesh? I wanted to use it with my BYOD network which used x but defeats the object if I cant use the radius bit.

Was caused by being left in a tray in science and 'accidentally' had a tap ran over them. One of them has that horrible battery acid stuff all over the usb connectors on the back too...

Hi, Just had 4 laptops handed to me that have been in a bit of water. I stripped 2 down and the boards have a few burns on them. Has anyone managed to source replacements for the Samsung CBs? Looking online and they are mostly in the US of A. With shipping and tax it becomes almost the same as a new one.

Hi, Just having a play with Skype for Business as I want to do some conferencing.. (and messing). We don't use O365 really but its setup, our email is on an exchange server but I have azure ticking away syncing with the cloud all users. Looking at the Skype for business admin bit of the website I see that 3 users are listed in the 'Skype for Business Online users' section but I haven't allocated them licenses or anything. These are newly created users from September so not sure why they have been automatically allocated licenses. I only have 1 license for Skype for business which I assigned to me to play with but my username isn't showing up in this section.. I presume its not meant to but its a bit confusing. I cant seem to delete the Skype for business users either, I have removed all their tick boxes but they wont go away and they definitely don't have licenses assigned to them. Anyone got a similar setup they can enlighten me about?

Hi, I have been asked about streaming a live webchat with a few other school to do with the Erasmus project. Looks like it will be in a hall so I imagine the camera would need to be a HD one but just wanted to ask others if they have done something similar. I had a play with youtube live broadcasting yesterday which sort of worked but need a decent webcam to try in anger.... especially with sound. I have 2 fibre broadband feeds so will look at using one for the live streaming only too so I can get a bit more speed out of it. Easier to hire the kit or buy in?

Sorry, I started this thread and haven't managed to get back about it yet. I am ploughing through the quotes we had given to us by some installation companies to see what kit they offered. We want to do it on the cheap (don't we all) but the quotes we got seemed to be West End production costs. The reason for portability is to justify the money being spent on new kit so we can move it around the school. We had a Peavey 300 CH from the ARK that blew last year so we wanted to upgrade, the speakers are still okay but from the same time period. Now the quotes all say add 2 more speakers to the middle of the hall and a monitor speaker at the front. We did buy some portable PA speakers (cant remember the model but the ones with the build in amp and Wi-Fi for mikes.. battery powered too) which are a decent stop gap. So we either wire up the hall to use the old speakers but have to buy an amp and add additional speakers or use the portable ones and buy powered speakers as the additional ones. The wiring would go tot he back of the hall where the portable amp would go so we can plug everything in. I was going to look at just getting a trolley and adding a DVD player to it and a amp but that's going to be heavy to move up and down the stairs.

I take some of the blame for ours because I thought it would be better than it was and the decision was the marketing dept as they wanted to take over all of it. Currently we have a website that is not flexible and very slow to load up, we have asked for some changes which they are charging lots for to improve it but its taken 2 months for that, communication is awful and I agree as soon as they get the money they are off the grid. Would avoid at all costs and if I had time would have dumped them and put our website onto a joomla site with a decent template. Think the hosting is £1000 a year or something similar.. and I bet they would charge to get the data off if you didn't pay for the hosting.

Mental morning here Outlook wouldn't connect at all, coming up with folders cannot be opened error. Took me hours to solve it and it was simple... the address of the server has stopped being classed as a local name so it was being routed out of the internet via Smoothwall and crashing. I had been changing the DNS on the SW so thought it was that.. Strangely when I get the autoconfig bit of outlook the certificate error was from my ISP, not my exchange server (solved eventually) I had the exchange server name in the bypass proxy bit of IE but not the FQDN. I have no idea why its resolving to an external host and its annoying that Outlook uses the IE settings but I suppose it makes sense. I did clear the DNS cache, the server DNS cache, checked the HOSTS file, reset IE but it didn't work. Very strange. Only affected teachers so every cloud

So the additional logon is working with W7 now... its still slow when I first logon to get to the AUP page, after I have logged on I can instantly get to it so its something going funny pre authentication. The webserver runs on a QNAP box and I haven't done any VLANNING on that bit of the network so its still on VLAN 1....but it does eventually get to it so the routing is working

And now the Ruckus controller decided to die FFS.... and I just got to a cabinet and water was seeping out... and the switch had lost all its config. Its come back up but have an issue with windows 7, its not coming up with a log onto the wifi option and I cannot browse to anything.. its a bit frustrating.

Thanks for all this, got 3 vlans setup and working now.. only issue I found is I needed to add the DNS proxy to the external access rules to get it to work nicely. The logon to my intranet site is still taking a minute to show up too... need to tweak it somehow. Now to do the taggin for my switches.. might take a while
