Version 1.5 has additional functionality to assign to yourself directly from the document library as a one step process. As part of that you could construct a link which does the same thing. The format is ~site/_layouts/SharePointLearningKit/Actions.aspx?Action=AssignSelf&ListId={ListId}&ItemId={ItemId} With the list and item ids replaced by those in the document library.

I think that the Content Query Web Part is limited to the same site collection. Similarly for the Data View Web Part you can add using SharePoint Designer. Bill, I don't know if you do this already from those brief details, but make sure that everytime a parent logs in that you check that they have parental responsiblity and don't have a court order. Over SSL obviously and just having one token needed to authenticate seems a bit weak for security. Richard

That's just for secondary schools. For primary level I believe Integris G2 and Pearson e1 have a much larger market share than CMIS/Facility. There's quite a few authority wide rollouts. In 2005 the DCSF (as then was) published which systems were used to submit PLASC returns in 2003-2005. Does Moodle 2 integrate with Sims?

It certainly is possible. I recently had this requirement for one of my customers. In fact it was a bit more complex than that. They are using Sims Learning Gateway and the email address which is inserted into AD is non-deterministic amongst those which are set as Main. We think it's the first email address created (whether home, work or other) which has the main flag set, but aren't sure. So in the end the requirement was to: 1. Unset the main flag from any existing home email addresses. 2. Delete any existing work email addresses. 3. Enter the school email address as the main work email. Didn't turn out to be too hard and they've now got up to date email address for all their staff and students. In fact I would actually recommend, that if you are using Sims Learning Gateway, not setting any home addresses as Main or they might end up in Active Directory and potentially accessible through SharePoint or Exchange.

I'd be inclined to leave it running in read-only mode for a specified length of time and let the users do it. You can use setSiteLock in stsadm to do this Setsitelock: Stsadm operation (Office SharePoint Server) Other than that on a document library basis you can use Explorer view to drag the lot out into Windows Explorer. There will be plenty of third party tools to do this, but I haven't got experience of any in this area. Of course depending on the VLE and the SLT view, you could still use SharePoint for document storage, possbily with links into the other VLE.

Although SCORM is a standard, it's big, complex and can have different interpretations. Before spending money on content or a content creation tool always check that it works as expected with your VLE/LMS.

As sivadam said use the reporing engine. To get the StaffCode you need the Initials element under Basic Details. This is the same as StaffCode under Employment Details, but you normally only get the Employment Details if you have the personnel role. Richard

My Shared Documents is SharePoint 2010 compatible. The other two aren't. I imagine that Bamboo Solutions will be converting their SharePoint File Share Library, but there's no timescale given. There's been no activity on Network File Share Web Parts since Feb 2009.

Any Capita Sims partner will need a Sims account to extract the information. If they don't then they are not going to be using the approved methods (business objects or third party reporting engine) and should be avoided. The exact permissions depends on what information they need to do what you asked them to do. We are constrained by the same sets of permissions as any Sims user. Richard

You can set item level permissions on the items in the calendar list. Then the security trimming will ensure that they only see the ones they have permission on. Richard

I haven't looked in 2010 but down to item/document level auditing was available in SharePoint 2007 so I imagine it's been improved in 2010. You didn't get it with WSS so it probably isn't there for Foundation either.
