Somewhere I read in a different topic that other people do the same sort of thing... but they add and remove the group from the security permissions and schedule that to run at two times (add the group and remove the group)

hmm, Any come up with a solid way to get this working at a reasonable pace? Using SQL 2005, on ESX blade.. if we use it from the server, it's flawless... as soon as you try using the client, it's just ridiculously slow.

Why would you want to put on a timer, the adding of a group to a group? Active Directory groups automagically update themselves when child groups are updated...

I've just looked into this to prevent NetSupport School and other programs changing the DCI key to disable DirectX The way I went about it was to use the Security Tool snap-in, change the bits I wanted, then remove all the trash and deploy this to the machines using a batch file - worked very well. Web2.0 is a term that should never ever ever ever ever be used quite frankly. It means nothing really, and that's why nobody who isn't "down with the internet" understands it. In a nutshell, anything that promotes creativity, sharing of information or any form of innovation on an already exisiting thing gets labelled as Web 2.0.... which is stupid... that makes most of the net fall into the Web 2.0 category... There's even talk of "Web 3.0"... Anything on the web current, or future, can have a beneficial impact in education, it's how you choose to use it that will dictate whether it's successful. Instead of getting kids to draw creatures and describe them in french, we can get them to play with the Spore Creature Creator... you could possibly get away with running a social networking site for your college....

Our maths department I believe considered Nintendo DS's with Dr Kawashima's Brain Training at one point I think the cost aspect turned them away a bit.. As a department here, we have an Xbox and a PS2... but they're only used for fun since we have no educational games for them I could see a use for a Wii in PE lessons when used alongside the WiiFit board...

All of Outlooks settings are Registry keys... You can possibly do it with the ADM's for Group Policy... or you in 2003 and I assume a similar function exists for 2007, you can create PRF's which have all the settings in and can be configured to execute at logon within the logon script etc... not looked at doing this yet, but will be at some point.

in PHP you can just use the date() function to look up that... I think Javascript has a similar function and would work in a similar. Anyone had trouble with filtering certain sites before? I've turned on the SWGfL "Games-List" filter and so far the kids found 1 site that's filtered by it... which is useless! Anyway, I've been trying to filter The Free Rider 2 Tracks Database, I've racked through loads of variations of it, I even filtered *.fr which took out google france etc... but kids can still get to this site without using anything extra... they just search in google, click it and away they go!? Any ideas? I've asked the grid to filter but no idea how long that'll take...

phpBB is the board I've always been most at home with. I never came across the urge to convert to an IPB or vB based board and have always been unhappy using them, I find them ugly and sluggish... (there is no real alternative to edugeek), but that's just me... I've no had qualms with phpBB and there are some real handy dandy mods out there for the board

You can use a Scheduled Task in windows and attach a .vbs file to run at a designated time or whatever... vbs only needs to be small - msgbox ("my message rules!", vbInformation, "Message Box Title") Other than that, you'd need it to sit around for several hours etc to wait for a time which is > 12 hours from logon... Does the tape drive not have an option to send email alerts when it's finished or something? (not down with tape drives )

By the looks of it, you've got two items with the same name I know it shouldn't make a difference, but obviously it does - rename the form control and all will be happy

I'm trying to run the Equitrac Express Client MSI as an assigned package through group policy, however, it always errors with the error: "Error 1920: Service EQ Shared Engine (EQSharedEngine) failed to start. Verify you have sufficient priveleges to start system services." If you run the MSI interactively with all the tweaks, all the right options are filled in, but neither the tweaked or the original work when run at startup. Any ideas on any of this stuff? Equitrac provide just an MSI, but I never managed to get anything out of them for deployment like this.

When you log on via RDP, I assumed it counted as a bog standard logon... so any GPO that would apply if you walked to it... will apply... in which case there are plenty of examples of VB scripts which add printers both simply and with complexity. The other thing is, if you've got printers connected to the machine you use the TSC from, you can have those connected... so if you Remote Desktop across two sites, you can print from server a in site b to printer a in site a. always useful, saves walking across site

I learnt it in 2003... We spent more time learning Pascal's triangle (which a fool could work out) than we did on Binary though. I've never really used it since then, I can just about remember how it works, would need a piece of paper to work it out on though. An evil spell Or more relevantly, it uses 0-9, A-F instead of just 1 and 0?

I think we've got an Entourage CD amongst 10'000 Exchange CD's... can't remember though. The default Mail app works pretty well, if not... and it does work with OSX 10.4.3 (or .4... haven't done it in ages).
