Not sure if I have a setting to tell it to or not... but mine does take me back to the login screen if I return to it and type again after a while.
-
I do it another way too. I have a column to calculate the difference between the current predicted grade (which could just as easily be the target grade) and the KS2 combined E&M level. This is then used in a marks to grade formula to return a LOP. I have LOP aspects set up for all subjects, so my LOPs are saved in result sets once calculated.

We have had 8 spam reports from Schoolcomms today which is exceptionally high. All are Yahoo or AOL. Wondered if anyone else had also, or if it's possibly something in a subject of an email sent that has flagged the email as spam.

[sims] Colouring cells with mixture of text/no text
SouthCoastSaint replied to SouthCoastSaint's topic in MIS Systems
I realised in the middle of the night when I was musing about this that I did forget to make it clear that yes, this is for individual reports. I will have a read of 40981 and see if I can attempt that. I did get around the initial problem by making a colour column and telling my original formula to colour that one and adding just my two text conditions, which worked fine in the marksheets, but it wasn't until I previewed a report that I could see it wasn't working. -
[sims] Colouring cells with mixture of text/no text
SouthCoastSaint replied to SouthCoastSaint's topic in MIS Systems
That was my exact thoughts when the idea was aired in the data meeting - I can do that, I will just delete the text where necesary. My conditions do work, but when I tried to amend them just by removing the text in the applicable statements but leaving the colour, the colour doesn't appear when calculating. It seems Sims doesn't 'hold' the blank there as when you re-open it, the radio button has gone back to the Column option. Unless I am missing something obvious... Hmmm. Just thought of a possible obvious as I type. I have continued to use the Constant Value. I maybe need to adapt so that for the blank text conditions I somehow use the Column option. Off to try it now. Thanks Vik for input. ** No. That didn't work either. The colour only seems to print when there is a text in the cell also. -
Posted on Supportnet - hopefully someone will have a solution for me. We have previously colour coded RAG and used text to compliment in the cell. So for example, if difference target/predicted is -6 then cell coloured amber and text in cell is - SLT have decided that they wish to remove the text from SOME of the conditions, so we will just be left with + for over target and C for >12 points below. The other 3 conditions need to just display the colour and no text. I have tried this two different ways and neither of them allow cells to show just colour with no text. I can't just colour the predicted grade as this then won't allow for the + and C to show. Please help! Summary reports are due next week so it's very much a last minute change.

[sims] Printing from an Assessment Defined Group
SouthCoastSaint replied to SouthCoastSaint's topic in MIS Systems
Thanks for help with this. I have finally managed to get it working using the Medical Condition Description as the filtered field. Our nurses will be very happy! Out of interest, I had a reply from Capita last week: In regards to your case having attempted to create the report in question unfortunately the reporting module does not allow this specific report to just show the photos of all the students with care plans. Using the fields provided the reporting module does not allow you to further filter the User defined groups to only show the photos of certain students. The end product for this report as expected will display a list of pupils/the chosen user defined groups/medical condition. The report will produce a list of all pupils (with photos) who show in these user defined groups with the medical condition attached to the records who have the medical condition of care plan. Unfortunately there is not a way to separate these records to just show the photos of those with the medical condition of care plan. If you have any further problems please contact me and I will advise you further. -
[sims] Printing from an Assessment Defined Group
SouthCoastSaint replied to SouthCoastSaint's topic in MIS Systems
Thanks Vic. I couldn't get the report filter to work - I did try that. Will look again next week. I can't believe that user defined/assessment defined groups are not a selectable option in every part of Sims, its very hit and miss. The thing about the medical field is that we have have Care Plan as a condition, which I can drag in as a column in the report. However when I click filter it very unhelpfully doesn't offer me the column to filter by, just the standard one like year group. Very frustrating as it seems such a simple thing. - - - Updated - - - Thanks Vic. I couldn't get the report filter to work - I did try that. Will look again next week. I thought I needed something so simple, but just can't see a way to do it. Medical would like a photo report of all students with Care Plans. I have created an Assessment Defined Group (also a Discover one) but just can't see a way to bring it into the general student list to allow me to print from it. Care plan has also been added as a Medical Condition, so I can actually pull that column in to the General Student List but still fail to see how I can filter by that column. I would like something really simple so that Medical can use it without much manipulation. Am I missing something? Thanks

You need to name yourself as an exception to the embargo.

Asking a question here hoping that Insight users might pick it up... I have recently had to upload an Interim Check (Sims individual report) for the same year group that are also in the middle of a profile session. I generate frequently while profiles are written which writes the document immediately to the DMS - but obviously we don't want half written reports displaying to parents. In SLG (and also in Schoolcomms when emailing I believe), you can select the report name that you wish to upload. Do other Insight users feel not in control when using the upload? There is potential to upload a letter that an administrator has linked to the student record that we would not wish to be displayed on Insight as well as the half finished profiles problems. Is there a workaround to be more selective rather than choosing a date range? Thanks for any ideas.

If you want it to display in marksheets, use it in any comparison formulas and report it to parents, then yes you will need another set of aspects.
-
Haha yeah right - even if IT could do it this week I'm not going to be the first!
-
I have a whole shed load of new intervention strategy templates to make - I really want to get the update to use the aspect replacement feature. Not sure how long I will be able to wait.

Surely if that really were the case, we wouldn't still have the Automation Error when trying to open exams after upgrades?!

SIMS Discover - reporting on transfer success/failure - monitoring
SouthCoastSaint replied to divadiow's topic in MIS Systems
I have some dynamic groups set up with me as the supervisor, and have the message bit ticked. Each day on my homepage I (should) see a notification eg 'discover update - less than 80% attendance'. I can see immediately if our transfer has failed if there are no reports there for that day. Our last transfer ran at 5am on 24th Feb. Sadly it's not been a priority for our busy technicians so since then Discover has been unusable. This is a frequent occurrence here. (This wasn't after an upgrade). -
[sims] Exams Organiser - "Automation Error"
SouthCoastSaint replied to Sam_Brown's topic in MIS Systems
I have the error since the upgrade was applied on Thursday. I had shut down Sims - and definitely didn't have exams open - in fact strangely the exams officers do NOT have the problem this time. And we are using Solus 3 too. -
The amount of marksheets that can be displayed via the register is limited. Maybe if it's Year 11 ones that aren't showing, you have exam entry/forecast marksheets that are displaying. I can't check as I am not a teacher but I think you can right click on the tab to select the ones you want to access through the register.
-
For us personally it wouldn't make much difference as we have vertical tutor groups so the TG doesn't identify the year group. A filter to reduce the number I am looking through would be ideal.

Getting Started on 4Matrix

I import from Sims to pull in my early entries, then just add to that series from a spreadsheet for my current predictions. -
Getting Started on 4Matrix
SouthCoastSaint replied to ICTLady's topic in Data Managers's Data Managers Topics
I had continued splitting the surname/forename column but forgot last week and lo and behold there is now an option to say it's a marksheet, split it for me. Much better. When subjects are mapped, save the map, saves a lot of time later. And stick to the same column headings each time before you paste then you don't have duplicate subjects to merge when checking subjects in the Admin screen.
