·****** SIMSLoad.exe is present and correct in the shortcut for SIMS .net
AFFECTED PRODUCTS AND VERSIONS
SIMS .net Installation & Upgrade
ADVICE
FIX 1
Correct or add the line in the SIMS.INI to point to the correct location of the SETUPS folder. The SIMS.ini file is located in the Windows folder (C:\Windows).
FIX 2
*
Remove and Re-install SIMS .net on the affected workstations. For further details, please see KB25581
FIX 3
*
RM CC3 ONLY
Please refer to Solus Overview open the technical guide and search for HKEY.* This shows what access is needed.
*
In addition, write access is needed to Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Program Files\SIMS Applications for short cuts.
NB: CC3 may need an install package to allow these to be added - for further details please refer to RM.
*
FIX 4
*
Run SIMSLoad.exe from the SIMS .net folder (C:\Program Files\SIMS\SIMS .net\SIMSLoad.exe)
*
The SIMS .net shortcut on the machine is missing the SIMSLoad.exe from the target i.e.
*
"C:\Program Files\SIMS\SIMS .net\SIMSLoad.exe" "C:\Program Files\SIMS\SIMS .net\Pulsar.exe"
Public Notes:
The following line from the SIMS.INI, that references the SETUPS folder, is either missing or pointing to the wrong location.
SIMSSetupsDirectory=S:\SIMS\Setups
If it is missing, it is because the workstation has been setup by running the installation files individually i.e.
- SIMSInfrastructureSetup.exe
- SIMSApplicationSetup.exe
- SIMSManualSetup.exe
If it is setup this way then certain lines are not added to the SIMS.INI.
ADDITIONAL NOTES
Ensure that new workstations are set up for SIMS using S:\SIMS\SETUPS\SIMSInst.exe
The comment that lots of schools have experienced this infuriates me. We ended up reinstalling Sims on quite a Number of machines for Spring. Surely we shouldn't have to do this. Trouble is, I'm stuck in the middle. As 'Sims person' I'm the one the teachers come to. I provided Capita's solution and am told our set up matches their instructions, but I'm not technical so can't argue the case. Piggy in the middle me!
