sorry, i mean no network connection.

So i rebuilt the server again today.... still the same behaviour i really don't know where to go from here.
-
I can see the odd warning/error, but that was relating to me misspelling the virtual switch name. nothing recently, it's like it doesn't want to give us any clues! thanks for taking the time to look at this with me btw.

Hi, Yep found them, is there something specific you want me to look at? have a big list of "hyper-v" folders. oddly some seem empty?
-
yep the vms are connected to the vswitch... we called ours "virtual switch"
-
Im right clicking the vm and using the "move wizard" and selecting the other host as a destination.
-
all on the same subnet no vlans switches are hp 5500-24g-sfp ei thanks for taking a look.
-
Hi Sorry for the late reply. hope this helps.... just for reference, we have another hyper-v host with the same settings that works fine. thanks for your input
-
sure i'll do some as soon as i'm in tomorrow... which areas specifically? cheers

Do you have port security enabled on your switches for the MAC addresses of the servers Is this in a virtual sense in the V-Switch management on the hyper server host or the physical core switches? When you move the VM from one server to the other are you setting the same mac address in the NIC settings? i was under the impression that i didn't need to make any manual adjustments if i used the "move" option in the hyper manager. Both servers have two different ranges assigned for the mac pool....should i be using static macs with both servers in the same mac range? thanks for your reply.

Hi Guys n Gals, I just wanted to reach out and ask if anybody can help with an issue im having. I have two hyper-v hosts a and b. Both are standalone (no replica or clusters) , and both have local storage and are identical machines (with the exception of hard disk size). I have 20 VMs across these servers, 15 on a and 5 on b. I need to move the vms from b to a so it's storage can be updated. Whenever i move a vm from b to a. The vm has no network traffic passing through. if i restart the vm it will start to work but another vm on the same host will stop working. If i restart that one, that too starts to work but as before another vm on the same host will stop working. If i transfer the vms BACK to the server of origin everything works fine and as it should.... as i am now everythings fine... but if i move a vm to another host traffic stops. if checked ips/macs mac pool ranges, vm switches, NIC teams updated firmware on the nics.... both servers are the same hardware so i started to think i have a physical nic fault. I've purchased a new nic (different brand) and it shows the same behaviour. I even rebuild the server from scratch... and it still does the same thing...... also if i put all my vms on host b everything runs fine..... but i need everything on host a! im sure its a network config/mac issue..... but i've tried so many things now i just want to cry LOL cheers for your time.

Excellent thanks, one last question, What spec is your VM
-
OK cool, would guy recommend a separate VM on hyper-v with WDS and MDT installed?
-
Ok long story short we're looking to streamline our image deployments with drivers/updates/apps ect ect. We currently have a linux box running FOG and WSUS installed as a vm on Hyper-v. We have a Windows 7 VM that we keep updated and update the master FOG image every term from this. I've just managed to install SCCM yesterday and had a bit of a play.....it seems so complex and maybe a little overkill for our site. I started to read up on WDS and then found people recommend MDT instead. Decisions decisions My brain's just mush at the moment as i can't decide which is best to use...... We have 700 machines same amount of users and are virtualized with a server 2012 r2/win7 environment. If anybody could give any advice that would be great. I just seem to be over complicating things with sccm or simply have bad habits! Thanks in advance.

Hi Guys, Just wanted to ask if any of you have enabled HTTPS scanning in conjunction with your nexus devices. We use this on our chromebooks and windows devices on student machines. However when i install our self signed Https cert to an nexus, the apps don't work but the chrome browser does. If i remove Https filtering from our web filter it works fine. However i have to enable https filtering for students. We have Google apps for education and use Google drive, so we don't allow students to use personal gmail accounts as our policies aren't enforced on them. We use https to help us out here. This is just one example. thanks

We needed a site pretty badly... i started to get some quotas and was gobsmacked!.... we went self hosting and did a wordpress install.... we did the site ourselves, Having a Graphic designer and web designer helped massively though!

Anybody managed to change Publisher's 2013 "default working file location" to some where else. Like N:\ for example. I've managed it for everything else (word, excel etc). when i click on "save as" or "Open" it goes to the users N:\ as default. However...... i think microsoft forgot about publisher -
I literally upgrade to ADMX and a central store this week with the help of the fine peeps on this forum. We also use Chrome. The threads HERE if you think it might be useful. cheers

So i've been asked to look at deploying and locking down office 2013 for our site, some features i want to disable and hide. We are a Google apps site (don't use 365/one/skydrive), but provide office as an option. I have downloaded the latest ADMX files but it amazes me how much is missing from the gpos for office. Some of the thing i want to do are; Remove the featured templates from the "New" tab I can set the default save locations for everything except Powerpoint & Access (eh?) Remove the "share" option from the "File" Remove the "Account" option from the "File" regards
