Smoothwall user cannot login, limit reached
ianniow replied to ianniow's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
Thanks I have just come in a bit early this morning and rebooted the whole thing. I checked for updates before reboot and there was only one issued on tues 8th for IDS so installed that. As far as I can see there is nothing wrong with the PC but this person is not in on Fridays so will give it a going over then. -

Shows as logged out You should be able to force a logout there. If I do that how does it affect otherusers -
I have this weird problem with one user, who only uses 1 pc. She came in this morning and IE 8 was asking for login for the proxy. I have checked the Auth log and the system says that she has reached her limit. I can not find out where else in the system that she is logged on. I have had this before with her and logged her on as a test user and it is all fine. Changed a setting in auth and restarted this obviously clears the log because then she can log in again. I would like to clear it without a restart. Any ideas

BBC blog report BBC - dot.Rory: Becta: Does it deserve to die?

We had this in my last school and we watched for when one of the pupils reached the high score and just before it was saved we rebooted the computer. Continued to watch after reboot and he went onto the same game. So we waited and did the same again. (Did not acheive much but gave us great satisfaction )

Just a Quick update. (I am sure no one is interested) DHl tried to deliver at 18:48 last night But they did return this morning. I opened the package to discover a lovely new Chassis fan So I am still stuck with a dead server waiting for a processor fan
-
Thank you for your helpful replies and have now raised a warranty request
-
Well that is what it is saying. When I take the side panel off and watch the fan while trying to start the server, the fan starts and then stops a number of times and then the server beeps and tells me fan5 failure which is the processor1 fan. I am also having great difficulty in finding out how to order one of these fans. Help

My School Guardian box still does not let them in

Fixed it I had another pc with another problem logging off just as desktop appears and reboot when going into safe mode. Anyway came across this site Intro & Updates Followed the instructions and it got the desktop back. Had to admit it was a leap of faith as I could not see exactly what is was going to do.

Thanks for the quick replies. I know that re install is the easiest route. I am fitting this around more important work so I figure the user can wait a while. I hate admitting defeat

I have a laptop (WinXP) which managed to get the koobface virus. I have cleaned that off and run a number of different anit virus/spam etc programs and am confident that it is now clean. The problem is that there is no desktop, taskbar etc after login. I can ctrl-alt-del / newtask / explorer and everything is fine and it all works. I have checked the HKLM\software\microsoft\windowsnt\currentversion\winlogon\shell is set to explorer.exe I have even added it to the Run under HKLM\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion and it still does not want to start. I have also done sfc/scannow with an XP sp3 cdrom Now I have reached my limit I would really like to fix this with out doing install fix/repair. Has any one got any ideas

We use Google Apps for email and calendar and so I have created a whole school calendar. Any member of staff can invite the "School Calendar" then I display this on Xibo. So it is always up to date.

I think I am right in saying that this is a bug and the work round is :- add a text item to the region that contains the video. The text item should be empty and have a short duration (Maybe 5 seconds)

I tried that one, but again it would not let me run it
