  1. I had a problem with gp and made the following change in the registry [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters] "DisableDHCPMediaSense"=dword:00000001 That did the trick Can't remember where I found that though
  2. Well I don't believe it   Students were a member of domain admins. Its a good job my students are not the same problem as main stream High school. Mind you I think I would have noticed before now. AJ thanks for making me look at the obvious.
  3. I think that the developer decided to let the user create reports I must admit I am not that good with SQL and created a link access database to it and use that for reports.
  4. Hi Thought I would add my problem to this discussion I have just looked at my students home directories and their files are owned by the administrators. To check I logged on as my test student and created a new file. then checked the ownership and it was administrators. Any ideas. I have seen various examples of what the permisions should be and have tried these but no change. I can also change the ownership manually back to the student.
  5. Have a look at lansweeper it is free and there is nothing to install on remote PC's
  6. Has anybody played with this one it looks quite usefull http://rapla.sourceforge.net/
  7. I just thought it would be easier to print out the instructions received by email in the practice test so that I did not have to keep switching windows. I work in a special school for speach and language and our kids don't have the skills to remember and understand some of thequestions and tasks
  8. How about this. While doing the practice test I thought it would be a good idea to print out the intructions instead of switching back an forth. It did not print. I raised a support call and got the following in reply. "This is correct, the pupils will not be able to print documents from inside of the test. The menu option is included simply to enhance the feel of the testing software, to further mimic "real world" programs. There are no tasks within the test that would require the students to print any information."
  9. I don't know if I am missing something but can't you just take the tick out of "display in sys tray when connected" in network properties
  10. I know this thread is quite old but I thought I would add my tuppence worth. I got round the problem by using a shortcut to Iexplorer but in kiosk mode with the hme page being the acceptable use page. This had an accept button that opened a new window for ie that then gave them access to the internet.
  11. Does any one know ? Have done various searches but cannot find anything conclusive. Smoe say it is something to do with HP software update. Some say it is a nasty and delete. any help appreciated. It has appeared on a number of my PC's
