Smoothwall Cloud portal logon
ianniow replied to ianniow's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
All Sorted now after I contacted the customer support manager she said that when we renewed the on site licence they did not reflect this in the cloud license hence the message "Your user account was authenticated successfully, but the account wasn't mapped to a customer record. Please contact your system admin." when I tried to login. -
Anyone else got problems logging on to the portal. I get the error message:- "Your user account was authenticated successfully, but the account wasn't mapped to a customer record. Please contact your system admin." Also there is a problem with the filtering on Chromebooks. The Smoothwall extension has an ! in the bottom right corner of the icon in the toolbar. Also some of the filtering not working and there are no reports coming into the on prem device. When I run the diags from the Chromebook I see this "provisioningMessage": "License Error: Could not find a valid license.", Waiting for response from 2nd line but it could be a while

Smoothwall - chromebook- authd No group info found
ianniow replied to ianniow's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
That is how mine have been set up. So every OU has been mapped to a Smoothwall group with no sub OU's. Weirdly if I use the cloud connect and external WIFI all the groups and OU's map correctly. working as it should. So there is some setting internally that is not working. I did raise a call and initially got me to check all the things I already had, then asked if the dial in was allowed and then it was raised to level 2 but I have heard nothing since. -

Smoothwall - chromebook- authd No group info found

I am sorry I missed your reply and then got sidetracked elsewhere. I have checked that the Google Ous are mapped to local groups and there are no errors on the Google auth directory. But all users when using the chrome connect or the cloud are tagged with default user. -

Smoothwall not allowing voice typing in Google docs
ianniow replied to ianniow's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
Hi Thanks for all the suggestions. I was sort off heading down that path but was not sure where to look will let you know how I get on. -
As the title says when behind the Smoothwall voice typing looks like it is going to work and then when you actually speak nothing happens. I can't find any blocks in the logs and I thought I had all the Google settings in place. Google meet works perfectly. The only weird line in the web filter log is https://mtalk.google.com:5228 with a code of 403 Any ideas anyone

Hi I have a number of students logging on to Chromebooks that then appear as "Default users" instead of student and therefore are not being filtered. This is on different Chromebooks and they have in the same org unit and member of the same groups asother students that work as they should. The auth log is full of Smoothy authd:No group Information found for username: username. Can anyone point me in the right direction.

Glad someone else has a problem. Have just had a "Live chat" with google support, tried various things. One thing was is the receiving email used as a recovery for a gmail account "I don't think so" Anyway they have transerred this to the email team. I am waiting for them to get back. The account I was using was @hotmail.co.uk. I created a new outlook.com address and tried and this worked . So I am waiting to see what they say about that.

Has anyone tried this to non gmail address? I have tried to my Hotmail and all I get is a link to login to gmail but it says that the email is only visible for my hotmail. I have tried the send code via sms and not, but there is no code sent I thought that a code was to be sent to access.

Just been passed this. I will leave you to decide on the ramifications. For info Please see the extracts below from NASS on the GDPR/safeguarding issue and related matters 5. GDPR – implications for schools We were joined by Shulmans LLP who presented the key issues for schools and supported a discussion between members. Claire reported back on her meeting with DfE to discuss GDPR and Child Protection – essentially that as things stand, GDPR and child protection regulation appears to clash. DfE will work on some ‘myth busting’. Post meeting update: Last week, an amendment was tabled on the Data protection Bill, to make this clearer. The amendment provides for a lawful ground for the processing of special category personal data – without consent if the circumstances justify it – where it is in the substantial public interest, and necessary for the purpose of: (i) protecting an individual from neglect or physical, mental or emotional harm; or (ii) protecting the physical, mental or emotional well-being of an individual where that individual is a child or an adult at risk (as defined in the Bill, but consistent with the expected definitions of, respectively, under 18 or having needs for care and support, experiencing or at risk of neglect or any type of harm, and unable to protect themselves). It should be stressed that the amendment still expects the possibility of obtaining consent from an individual to be considered (and in these circumstances it would have to be explicit). However, if in the circumstances the consent cannot be given, or the data controller cannot reasonably be expected to obtain it – notably because obtaining it would prejudice the safeguarding purpose (i.e. the protection of the individual) – then the ground applies. You can read more here: https://www.farrer.co.uk/News/Briefings/Breaking-news-safeguarding-amendment-to-Data-Protection-Bill- NASS has also commissioned Shulmans to develop a new contract clause to bring paperwork in line with GDPR. Their assessment is that such a change will be necessary for those using the National Contract or their own contract paperwork. At the meeting we presented a draft clause – which we suggest could be used with the National Contract as a Schedule 6 amendment – and guidance notes and a draft schools GDPR assurance statement. A couple of caveats: 1. NASS cannot mandate use of this clause – it is down to schools and LAs to agree between each other what is suitable contractual cover for GDPR. We offer this to try to make life simpler. 2. NASS made LAs we have contact details for aware of our plans to draft a new clause and have said we will make it freely available to them. However, we are aware that some LAs will seek their own paperwork. We would urge schools to be careful of signing LA paperwork without ensuring that it properly reflects the relationship between school and LA as data sharers, rather than one being the controller and the other being the processor.

Heres a handy site for places to go and things to do. https://www.visitisleofwight.co.uk/ Generally the west side of the island is villages and country walks and the east side is a bit more commercialised.

So I think because of this Talk then blocked all remote desktop applications TalkTalk Bans TeamViewer From Network To Combat Fraud Teamviewer is now accessible. I happen to use anydesk.com and that is still blocked having had a running conversation with TalkTalk the last reply I got was " Hi Ian, we're working with a number remote desktop providers on improving security for our customers, we recommend speaking with the application provider for the latest service status. Thanks, Becky" So they put a block on and then tell providers that they have blocked get round that. Meanwhile I have to revert to using a vpn to get remote desk access. But on a brighter side because I have replied so much Talk Talk have told me That "You've just earned the Insightful badge"

I use a vbs scirpt one for logon and one for logoff which uses two folders one for computers and one for users and creates name.txt files for each inside these. I can't claim any credit as I got it from edugeek somewhere I think (Long time ago) ' LOGOUT SCRIPT as follows Option Explicit Dim strUserDirectory, strCompDirectory, strDate Dim strUser, strComp Dim strUserFile, strCompFile Dim objWshNtwk, objFSO, objTextFile Set objWshNtwk = WScript.CreateObject("WScript.Network") strUserDirectory = "\\servername\foldername$\Users" strCompDirectory = "\\servename\foldername$\Computers" strDate = Now strUser = (objWshNtwk.UserName) strComp = (objWshNtwk.ComputerName) strUserFile = "\" & CStr(strUser) & ".txt" strCompFile = "\" & CStr(strComp) & ".txt" Set objFSO = CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject") Const ForAppending = 8 ' Username Log Set objTextFile = objFSO.OpenTextFile (strUserDirectory &_ strUserFile, ForAppending, True) objTextFile.WriteLine ("User:" & ", " & strUser & ", " _ & "Logged out of Computer" & ", " & strComp & ", "_ & "at" & ", " & strDate) objTextFile.Close 'computer name Log Set objTextFile = objFSO.OpenTextFile _ (strCompDirectory & strCompFile, ForAppending, True) 'objTextFile.WriteLine (strUser & "," & strComp & "," & strDate) objTextFile.WriteLine ("Computer" & ", " & strComp & ", "_ & "Was logged out of by" _ & ", " & strUser & ", " & "at" & "," & strDate) objTextFile.Close WScript.Quit
