Dear all, I'd like to know your thoughts on usin Profiles for full written reports. I much prefer Assessment, but it doesn't offer enough flexibility in terms of max character limits (something I really think should be implemented via the gradeset area) and also, crucially, reviewing the data for Form teachers/heads of year is virtually impossible. I think we'll have to use Profiles but I feel very uncomfortable with it - anyone got any tips/advice or other ways they do things?! I should point out we are starting with SIMS from September from a different MIS. Cheers! T

Hi All, We're rolling out SIMS for the first time in September - and we're asking staff to take a register in each subject lesson obviously using Lesson Monitor. There is some opposition, however, regarding taking a register and getting the lesson started - a problem cited being they won't have time to take the register and still engage their pupils at the beginning of the lesson. One solution put forward as having TWO computers in each room... I just wondered if anyone had similar issues with staff, and/or if there are any hints and tips to getting the staff to register kids and get their lessons started promptly? Cheers all Tom

Cheers vikpaw, I think we'll wait until the cycle starts to apply the patch - failing that we'll do it manually using the new defined intervals we set, adding day by day!! Thanks guys! T

Cheers all - we have indeed been given a patch and will apply it after the TT Cycle begins (it won't work otherwise) and see what happens! Cheers Tom

Hi folks - an issue I hope you can help with: On the Classroom Staff Details screen, when adding the organisation in panel 3, the "Working Pattern" defaults to a time we do not want (08:30 - 16:30) - we're not sure where it finds this time but it needs to be 08:00 - 17:00 (as defined in the timetable cycle) - otherwise staff won't be seen as working before 08:30 or after 16:30 for cover purposes (duties/meetings etc)... Changing/adding organisation in the Tools > Cover > Organisations and Bookings > Define Named Intervals does not affect the default working pattern when adding it to staff, just simply allows it to be selected when editing each day. This means we have to go through all staff members and edit each working day to make their working hours correct - obviously not ideal! Is there a fix or workaround!? What are the defaults everyone else has out of interest? Cheers Tom 7.162

Hello guys Our cycle dictates that period 8 is a teaching period, a registration period and also we timetable duties into this period too. Without going into changing the cycle (this is a rather complicated and tedious exercise where we've already spent a lot of time) - does anyone know if it's possible to timetable a teacher into Period 8 for a lesson/registration, AND a duty? Our duties are NCCs and we want a teacher to take a register then perform a duty for the remainder of that period. Hope this is clear! Cheers guys, T

Hello folks When adding a behaviour incident, the first option is to select a "Type" - from things like Accident Assault Bullying Disruption etc... I'm trying to find the lookup for this field so that we can add our own - however I can't find it anywhere - can someone help? I've managed to change the achievement ones, and there are other behaviour ones - but I can't see this one! Cheers Tom

Dear all, I have just spent a while attaching our staff photos to the records and now want to run a report - but it appears we don't have the template available when the report: "Staff Photo List" is run - can anyone advise, or share a report they use? Cheers! T

That seems to be an MIS rather than an add-on?

Still looking! Apparently Fixtures Pro are developing something so we're waiting for that - I think more companies are starting to consider this but feels like we'll have to wait a while!

Hi guys Question about contacts on SIMS and how it relates to InTouch. May I ask - if we have a mother and a father set up, each with a mobile and each with an email, and all 4 set to "Primary" and "Main" - what does this mean? As it relates to InTouch, does that mean they will automatically be listed to send SMS messages and emails etc? And what is the distinction between Primary and Main in terms of the rest of the system? Cheers guys T

Wahooooooooo! Thank you sir!

Nice! I'll be interested in looking at ways of getting it out to staff in other ways too...cheers T

Would be very useful if it did as we have many room changes owing to issues with space... When you export the HTML does it overwrite the old one?

We will indeed be using cover so this is great news, thanks Tom

Dear all, We're moving to SIMS soon. Currently when a room is changed from a timetabled lesson to something else, we document them and distribute them to staff so they know if their lesson has moved. Am I right in thinking that if this happens with SIMS - it will be reflected on the relevant timetables of staff and pupils? I assume there's no "notification" of this - it would be up to the staff to check the room on their timetable? Cheers Tom

In the tree view for reports I only seem to get the "customise text" option...have managed to delete other favourites, right clicking the fave panel on the home screen - before I didn't have permissions...which is odd, permissions to add but not remove...
-
Hello all, How does one remove items they have added to their favourites such as pupils, menu items, and reports? Cheers Tom

Great - how do you find Emerge? It seemed a little slow on the demos I've seen...and I'm not crazy about the interface either - the new SIMS interface is lovely. Yes - we'd need detentions on the app...can emerge do this? T
-
Great thank you!

"You can determine which types are linked to the register and which are not" Does this mean you can determine which can be accessed from Lesson Monitor/Registration and which can only be applied to pupils via the behaviour module itself? I assume this would be to keep the very serious stuff out of the way of most staff and allow only senior staff to assign it to students?

Hello folks I've looked at groupcall and the SIMS app but wondered if anyone has encountered other multi-platform app to allow staff to take registers and record behaviour/achievement? I like the SIMS app but it's only on tablets at the moment and to have a nice simple app on your phone would be very useful. Groupcall is OK but wondered if people know of others I could look at! Cheers folks, T

Dear all, We are getting SIMS soon and I'm wondering if in the behaviour and achievement lookups, you can determine different items according to the year/tier of the school? So for example for behaviour we would define things like: Uniform Bullying Chewing Disruption etc But in the lower school we may wish to do something else... is this possible? We're trying to develop a behaviour policy and I'm looking to guide our staff in terms of what we can and can't do. Cheers all, T
