  1. You can easily derive the APS from the percentages, as they tell you the no. of entries, so 10% of 100 pupils getting an A is obviously 10 pupils, = 600 points, cayying on through each grade with Excel formulas and an APS can be achieved; trend it over the years and match it to yours for subject comparisons
  2. Forgive me, as a non-SIMS user, I didn't know each parent had the ability to have their own numbers like this - which of course makes sense now I read that! So basically there would be mobile, work, home and other for mother and mobile, work, home and other for father, too?
  3. Does anyone know if the telephone type can be customised to add others such as Mother Mobile, Father Mobile, Father work, Mother work, etc? This would be for SIMS Independant. Cheers guys! Tom
  4. Tremendous, as always vikpaw. Cheers!
  5. And, apologies, but is it possible in the latest versions of SIMS to have staff enter comments in Profile for reports and permit line breaks and even bullet points or other formatting? Cheers T
  6. Hi guys - I'm looking at the ways in which SIMS can report on data - the individual reporting seems to be good - but I'm wondering if it's possible to integrate averages into them. So for example, an individual report for Barry Smith in 9BE, showing his test scores for all of his subjects. This is easily done by collecting on marksheets, the data from staff, then creating a template with a row for every subject, and ticking "Hide Rows with No Results". However, if I want another column next to Barry's results, which show the average for his year/class - how would I do it? I appreciate I could just get the teachers to enter this - but on a broader point - there would be a desire to create single, summative reports featuring average data for all subjects on one page, too, so is this possible? Cheers guys - you're all most helpful!! PS I'm talking about the latest version of SIMS - our old version is not relevant for this question! T
  7. Great thanks very much Vikpaw!
  8. So, guys, I'm assuming SIMS isn't compatible with Apple computers? I suspect the Learning gateway is though, since it's only a website, so teaching staff can still write their reports etc on mac computers, whereas admin staff would require PCs?? Cheers Tom
  9. Hi guys, We use, for various and explained on here before reasons, SIMS 7.114, and I would like to be able to locate the files attached to kids on LINKED DOCUMENTS (via export to DMS function in Exams Organiser) in one go. Basically we're thinking of ways of getting results to kids on results day, electronically, and without a pupil portal, we feel getting a document from exams with all the UMS and grades, then perhaps, emailing, is an option we'd like to explore. Exporting to PDF directly from exams isn't viable as many pupils have more than one page for results, so I can't split the document per page. Anyway - if anyone knows how to export the DMS files, or knows where SIMS puts them (unless they're generated on the fly) I'd be much appreciative! Cheers, T
  10. Ha thanks vikpaw, the field is definitely there on the staff screen, will check permissions - thanks
  11. I am trying to run a a report to get this on all staff, to find out if we have blanks, but can't find the field anywhere! Anyone know where it's hiding?! SIMS 7.114 Cheers T
  12. Ta! Very grateful thanks will check it out
  13. Hi guys, We're trialling AlfiSoft, and aong the data this system needs from SIMS is staff email addresses which we don't store in SIMS. Does anyone know if this can be batch imported, or do we have to add them one by one? We're using SIMS 7.114 Cheers guys, Tom
  14. Hi Rawns, thanks for that I'll look into it. I'm not really sure; we use a different MIS and mainly use SIMS/Nova for timetabling - we're in a transition period, really, and I think things will move towards one whole system eventually! Thanks again, T
  15. It's Office 2010; and I've just figured out only one year group causes this error (Year 11) but not yet figured out why!
  16. Apologies, just realised I posted this in the wrong forum first: Dear All, I was wondering if anyone was farmiliar with this error, which I'm getting trying to run a report on SIMS The report is pretty simple: [sTUDENT] Forename [sTUDENT] Surname [sTUDENT] Reg Group [CLASSES] Subject [CLASSES] Teacher Forename [CLASSES] Teacher Surname Any help would be appreciated! We're running SIMS 7.114, Build 12, Database build 3.61.516 on Windows XP. Cheers, T

  18. Dear all, I was wondering if anyone knew of any system that predicted KS2 levels for kids, at a sub/decimal level. Currently we use PIPS which only offeres percentage chance at each whole level; like chances graphs. Cheers, T
  19. Does it lose any unsaved data from the user currently hogging it!!?
  20. Putting the discussion about why we're still using this version of Nova aside... does anyone know if it's possible to automatically log users out of the Cover module if they are inactive? Since people sometimes leave it logged in and prevent other users accessing it! Cheers Tom
  21. Thats fine thanks for the replies guys!
  22. Renaming them, although at first appears successful, returns the following error message after trying to import: Assessment Manager Marksheets Import Date : 14/03/2012 08:45:23 File Name G and T Register10s.xml Invalid file File Name G and T Register11s.xml Invalid file File Name G and T Register12s.xml Invalid file File Name G and T Register13s.xml Invalid file File Name G and T Register14s.xml Invalid file File Name G and T Register15s.xml Invalid file File Name G and T Register8s.xml Invalid file File Name G and T Register9s.xml Invalid file
  23. Owing to staff using macs, and file association issues which I frustratingly can't seem to get resolved, the XML files are not opening by default in Excel on macs. If I can convert them to XLS, they will, by default, open in Excel. Then, if I can covert them back to XML, I can bath import them (you can't batch import XLS). I know this is a rather laborious workaround - but some staff are really getting confused!! Only if this is possible of course! Cheers, Tom
  24. Mr genius!! May I call on your powers again!!? I wonder if you could make this script do the opposite, turning XLS to XML!!? Forever grateful! T
  25. I see, so clone the prediction in the subject-only marksheets into another column, and use THAT column as the prediction for reports?! Yes... clever!
