  1. The thing is they will appeal and even if they lose. All that will happen is MS will pay I4I a bunch of money.
  2. Judge orders Microsoft to stop selling Word
  3. Not sure over error message but sounds more like problem with something to do with server and workstation talking vrs packages issues (maybe dns, are time on server and station the same?) You could try new machine assigning each package one at time watch event logs remotely and see which package fails etc. Russ Russ
  4. Also what happens in you run installs manually on the workstation? Russ
  5. @Matt That is all the RM packages do is run installer (just a way to get them into the RM system to assign out) and there is an extra one to sort permission out etc. Russ
  6. errrm All we did is download all the blank packages of rm.com for cc3. Added in the correct files from simssetups directory. Imported them into the RMMC in CC4. Log In Suggest delete all sims packages out of your RMMC and start again. But all installs fine here no problem.
  7. @Si Yes but issue is the websites often go through rbc connection lets put it like this. If I ran it on our internal web servers we run and to do that they had to go through the schools rbc internet connection to access my servers. If I had not got ok from director of the RBC I would be asked to leave my job. Russ
  8. Sorry I did feel this was funny when I saw this google ad.
  9. Yes it happens all the time but unusual case here is to target one person. DOS attacks are often against a company or a cause. Where this attack was targeted against one person. Russ
  10. Well as pointed out two theories are a ddos and joes job attack to be honest I am with Graham on this one seems unlikely that Joes Job caused the problem. Could of been both a Joes Job and a DDOS attack. Russ
  11. BBC NEWS | Technology | 'Massive attack' strikes websites As probably heard was DDOS attack against Facebook, twitter, google and Livejournel. Graham from Sophos did make point about how attack (which seems to be focused on blogger) could cause trouble at least for twitter which took brunt of the attack by looks of it.. Russ
  12. To be honest no but idea is to make people more aware of importance of lifecover in some ways. As marketing idea very clever people on here will say once you have kids start to reevaluate life etc and something like this become important. Lets be honest if had free cover for year of someone then likely to go to them to continue it. Also remember that once you start you can't change firm as you lose what you have paid into it etc so getting people when they hit 25/30 and start have families is very clever ploy.
  13. Might be useful as got few members with new borns or got babies due. Aviva - Insurance - Life Insurance - Level Term Life Insurance - Term Insurance Russ
  14. p.s Enough Thanks for you Russ
  15. err I do have life outside of edugeek ok I have been in corner rocking side to side because twitter was down.. Moan moan that is all I get..
  16. Well in real terms the existing scheme continues until they report back etc with agreed time frame and scales etc. So by May next year they have as I read it have everything in place to start the roll out etc. So next years pay will continue under the old scheme for now. Russ
  17. In simple terms anyone in a school not employed as teacher is covered. But the scheme does not include anyone being paid under conditions such as JNC youth worker conditions and craft workers (people covered by the red book). Russ
  18. @bossman No this is brill.. Rus
  19. Gives you an idea on progress and timescales... School support staff Russ
  20. lol On serious note one of things next year is we are making some major changes and want to baseline peoples view and experience of the IT support and then after the changes see if it has improved. Russ
  21. We are about to start a survey with the staff next year to survey the IT Support department. I was wondering has anyone done this and if so what type of questions have you asked? Russ
  22. At the moment let me be very clear this speculation that LAs will get Green IT agenda inspected more detailed way but if I was betting man I would say that it will start to come within the next 12 months. "Being Green" and Green IT is part (is part of sustainable framework which school has to report on the SEF). Key here is that replacing all the windows is not cost effective. The fact is IT takes up large % of CO2 emissions that is not just including energy use but also manufacture/supply of the items. So at school level it is about making sure that you are doing the things you can (machines shutoff at night etc, move servers to virtual servers etc). Look at supply are machines buying green (but still do the job and cost the same of non green machines for example). It is showing that you are doing something towards reducing your CO2 so even once it becomes a focus on the ofsted inspection. I do think it will be along the lines of on the SEF you would have what your are doing and then inspection would make sure that is is the case and not just putting something on SEF for sake of it. My guess anyway... Russ

    HR Policy

It is one of the major downsides to working in usa the holiday. Russ
  24. Thats not quite true... The sogce targets are central government but there is another set of targets for LAs. Two that effect schools % decrease across LA estate (that includes schools) and % decrease across whole of LA. Main thing is lot of LAs not making targets. Ofsted have green IT already in there. LA need a quick way to meet targets by forcing it on the estate Step one - LAs ask government to make sure ofsted inspect the green IT side with bit more detail Step two it becomes an issue for the school and IT support.
  25. Congrats to you all.. Russ
