  1. I have a server in which one of the dives has failed and needs swapping out. The raid card is an LSI MegaRaid SAS 9260-8i. Available storage shows as 1.63TB with four 600GB disks so I assume it’s raid 5. I’ve never had to do this before and searching the web has not helped. When the drive is swapped out will the new drive just start rebuilding or will it have to be configured. The server is ESXi so anything would have to be done in the webbios. If changes have to be made could someone point me to a step by step guide. Thanks.
  2. Have a look at section 6.1 of this Microsoft memorandum of Understanding. They clearly do not need to be included. I've only just found this document. I will be looking at my schools FTE count next OVS-ES renewal as quite a number of TA's that I've previously counted should not have been.
  3. A new screen should cost you just shy of £40 delivered for that model. Get the make and model number from the back of the screen and call someone like Accupart.
  4. Is there some secret knack to installing USB connected HP printers using the Universal print drivers? I always struggle unduly but now have one that is identified immediately as an unknown USB device and no amount of uninstalling and reinstalling seems to change that. This is on Windows 7 32bit.
  5. I take it you have looked at Article No. 1806 on the Microlib support site which lists the error and fix.

  8. Just to follow up, if the normal speed was 7Mb and you are now seeing 3.5Mb plug your router into the BT master socket. Take the two screws out of the master socket and remove the bottom faceplate. Plug the router in to the test socket you can now see and test from that. Try a second filter if speeds are still slow. If you still have a problem at the BT test socket get your phone provider to do a line test. Line noise due to bad joints is most likely cause here. If the BT test socket test is ok look at getting a BT I-Plate, ADSL master socket or just go round and remove all the ring wires from all sockets.
  9. Your girlfriend is on an ADSL 2 enabled exchange which would deliver up to 24Mb. ADSL2 speeds fall off quite rapidly as distance from the exchange increases. Only some exchanges were upgraded to ADSL2. You could be on a different exchange which was not enabled and are receiving near the top end speed possible for ADSL1 being close to the exchange with 7Mb. You can both have the same area code, be near to each other but on different exchanges. Do an exchange search here https://www.samknows.com/broadband/
  10. You have the Microsoft NET security fix KB3142026 on your build server. Remove it and you should be ok.

  12. Is it still possible to download Ac 1.7? I have 30 iPads and a Mac Mini to set up this week and it doesn't sound like Ac2 is worth the heartache at the moment. Thanks Nick
  13. I’m new to vSphere and need to fit a replacement tape drive to a vSphere host. Should I RDP into each virtual server and shut them down or put them in maintenance mode and shut them down from the vSphere client. Then put the host into maintenance mode and reboot it? What are the steps then to get the new drive recognised in the virtual server hosting Backup Exec. Thanks
  14. I need to spec up a Mac mini, monitor, keyboard and mouse just for exclusive use with Apple configurator for 30 iPad mini’s. I see on some sites that the display port to DVI convertor is no longer supplied with the Mac mini. Other sites contradict this. I see also reports of connecting a monitor via HDMI causes problems with waking up the monitor. Could anybody suggest the best way to connect the monitor for a Mac that needs no high end graphic display. Any suggestions for a cheap compatible Mac keyboard and mouse would be welcome. Thanks in advance.

  16. I maybe wrong but from what I understand reading up is the load test measures the current been drawn when the appliance is turned on Most testers giving the reading in KVA. The person testing should then compare this to the rated KVA on the plate on the appliance. If it’s a hall projector how is he reading this plate? How does he know what the projector is rated at? Is he just comparing it to the rated load of a classroom projector which will be much lower. Find out what reading he is getting and download the projector manual which should give you the rated load.
  17. Does anyone have a link to download an iso for Office 2010 Standard. I have a recently purchases MAK key but no access to the email it’s been tied to for the moment.
  18. Windows remote assistance? Quite handy as you don’t have to talk someone through installing some third party program.
  19. I have a school that were migrated to Office 365 for only Staff email by county several years ago. Hence all users have a logon but the assigned licence for each user is only for Exchange Online (Plan 1) for students. The school have no server hence no AD. They have been using RM Learning platform to store all planning and now need to move all off it onto SharePoint via Office 365. Has anyone any experience of this type of setup and any pointers on how to go about it. I think I will need to create each member of staff a separate and different username to the email and assign them A2 Licences. If that’s the case RM Unify’s single logon for both email and SharePoint seems like a good option. Any pointers or help anyone can offer would be most welcome.
  20. Thanks, that looks just the ticket. The school have a couple lying around.
  21. I am looking for any suggestions as to any hardware that would allow me to display a website showing the schools energy performance. This will need to be a wall mounted wireless solution as no network points are in the location. A Clevertouch would be ideal but seems to be overkill and expensive as it doesn’t need to be touchscreen and will only ever display one website. Perhaps a Large monitor with a small PC mounted behind it but I can’t find anything to fit the bill.
  22. I’d try running it with a clean boot first and see if that fixes the problem. Either way it will give you a clue as to where to look further.
  23. I believe Hitachi will extend the warranty to five years on the fault. Contact Equinox who do the warranty repairs for Hitachi. I sent them an email and they got in touch with Hitachi for me who agreed the repair. Equinox came out the next day and replaced the projector which was 18 months out of warranty.
