seems impressive technology there, if you can cut out the SAN/NAS devices all the better I think in terms of infrastructure costs, though if its expensive like you have said it isn't going to be an attractive option. Hyper-V is a winner to most people on EES because it comes without the additional costs.

Out of interest, why has the question been raised with you ? have you had many incidents of people using what sounds like spy grade equipment in exams ? We tend to just make all pupils put their phones and devices into a clear plastic or cardboard box here on entry into an exam regardless, last exam had a child putting his bluetooth speaker into the box too.

I said London on the pure basis that it is where the majority of government departments are based, there are plenty of other places around London, but I think that moving it away would mean transport costs between these places ill wager so its a bit of a non-saver there unless we moved everything on block which is unlikely as some departments are massive.

Have you looked at Veeams own offerings ? Its not a majorly hard program to master, though they do offer a qualification. They have online training under their veeam university - Veeam University’s interactive End User Training Videos Also information on their VMCE qualification if your interested.

graphics drivers on the machine correct and up to date ? flash/java too ? that can usually cause issues with displays on screens and websites.

I am on VM myself, around £50 for Telephone and 152meg broadband here. Where I am the BT fibre cabinet is literally at the end of my street, so plenty of options here, though its been great in this area as its not oversubscribed and I am not so hardcore into online gaming these days. Wont have their TV as they don't do Sky Atlantic (don't think its wise to stick all eggs in one basket either)

I think I would rather see a new purpose built building now myself and that existing site being used as a museum. I imagine that there are many different office blocks and sites in London that could easily accommodate the chambers and their associated offices too if they looked hard enough. Decorating is another massive hidden cost in that building thats probably overlooked, its not like they will be using any cheap £3 a roll wallpaper and cord carpets when rebuilt

I had to upgrade our version of success maker when we moved it to a VM from its old 2003 based Physical server (when we went to windows 7 here it was originally 1.3, but we had to upgrade it to 1.72 which I think we currently are - we had the upgrade with RM at the time to allow us to go to windows 7 iirc as it was giving issues on the 1.3 version) It is very problematic I found on a 64 bit server, I would actually say that it hated it and it caused many issues attempting to put it onto the platform before I just downgraded it onto a different VM and got the DB installation over and it was all up and running fine then. It resides now with us on a 32 bit 2008 SP2 (Vista Level) server VM and that is what it will stay until retirement now, unless our school wins the lottery and upgrades to a more current version Check the RM documentation on their website regarding issues as there is plenty of it on there regarding Server 2008R2 when I worked through it.

As in another discussion with @localzuk, the interface on the system is ok as web interfaces to go, not the best, but easy enough to use on that system, the system comes with a camera with extra sensors for Movement Detection, though these don't work super brilliantly so its easy enough to have the system record for the majority of the working day when my parents are out, then its activated by sensor at night. It does have some nice features like sending video and pictures to telephones and can sync up with its cloud services as well.

Windows 10 is quite encouraging in that its 15gb less in size from installations compared to 7 if I read right. VDI is a major project there and I think you could turn older machines into thin clients to connect to your desktops, but its not something I have tried myself. also - Microsoft MultiPoint Server is something you may want to look at if your looking to share a single high spec machine amongst multiple people at once.

Its not clear what your trying to achieve to me from the limited information given but ill try and answer in relation to it. If you are on about re-imaging machines with a copy of Windows, then look at MDT (its a microsoft product and works with the newest versions of windows) - thats what we use here to re-image our machines off the network and put our customised windows 7 build onto them (we can do entire suites at a time, but the more machines you have building the slower it will take to rebuild that machine). It takes about 12 minutes on our network to re-image a machine without updates at the moment (they get done daily with our WSUS server). You can host an MDT server on a Hyper-V VM, but it will possibly cause performance issues as it can slow down the Hyper-V network appliance, which is why we kept ours physically separate at our site. The other bit makes me think you may be wanting to set up VMs for people to connect to... In terms of Virtualisation hosting you could host lots of Virtual Machines on a machine and connect to them all, the machine would have to have a fairly high specification to have that many hosted on it with people working away on them simultaneously to not have them get a poor performing services. It sounds like your possibly trying to setup a remote desktop services VDI from what I am reading, that requires Windows Server to be installed for the VM hosting and Remote Desktop Services (setting up a VDI on your network really, quite a large undertaking as you will need CALs and lots of other requirements)

Can you explain what you want to do a little more clearly ? You can manage your VMs you have hosted on a server with any PC with hyper-v admin tools. Ideally you want to use Server OS for a VM Host, but you can do it on windows 8 - thats very dependant on the specification of your server though how many VMs you can run.

Samsung has a tool to help you there with that

Nice to see it back on the TV, I would like to see it back for specials/small runs if it ever came back, problem before was that it went on too long I thought and started scraping the barrel when people got bored of the show. Music was ok I thought blur were a bit of a let down, coffee and tv isn't their greatest song I felt, Liam Gallagher and Roger Daltrey where a surprise highlight for me they nailed it, Rudimental were ok, the other band were forgettable. Grimmy is very annoying I find for me, can't abide him on radio never mind TV, turned off at Lewis Hamilton as it was a pointless luvvy segment that I seemed to find unbearable to watch, he's got no personality at all and seemed a bit unlikable to me.

I have 2 chromecasts - one in the upstairs and downstairs TVs, decent devices work well with chrome and have paid for themselves in the freebies from google to date (Had over £40 in credit for £30 spends on both)

Marvel Super Heroes stuff is quite good with then, shame it has a bit of a "Premium" for using those brands so the sets are more expensive than average.
