  1. Logged into the server as domain admin, go to the ownership settings of the folder and replace them with your domain admin account. Then go back in and change the rest of the security permissions. That's always resolved that issue for me in the past.
  2. Epson EB-W29 this year EB-W22 last year EB-W18 year before that. I like epsons cheap bulbs on those too, only £74 for genuines i think, cant remember how much compats were.
  3. Safe to say the 1080 looks like an AWESOME card! I've been hanging on to my 780 for a while now, i don't think i'd have the patience to wait for the 1080ti with HBM2 memory, so 1080 may well be my next card......now to try and muster the patience to wait for the non-reference coolers! (Cards released on the 27th, my birthday is the 31st...nice timing nvidia!)
  4. nvidia have an announcement coming 2AM Saturday morning UK time. Wait for that
  5. Just purchased some from fs.com for my 1950-24G switches, i'd recommend them. I spoke to some guys on reddit.com/r/networking before purchasing, and was happy to go for them after a few people told me they purchased hundreds or thousands over the years without issue. Got 16 SFP+ transceivers for about £250. After ordering i got an email from them asking me what devices i was putting them in so that they can double check compatibility (albeit clearly a chinese person translating into English...the email was quite funny ) Not sure how that price compares to the above though as i've not looked. EDIT: have already put 5 of them in and can confirm that they work perfectly fine too. You can also buy a device to update transceiver firmware/roms in case a switch firmware update breaks your transceivers, not that i think any of us would need one given the quantity we work with. I think someone also said that if a switch firmware upgrade does break the transceivers you can send them back and they've reflash/update the transceivers to work.
  6. Unfortunately it seems the market is really limited in terms of library system. The only "good" one is also the most expensive, as it's designed for proper libraries and universities etc (i can't remember the name of that) the question has been asked a couple of times here, but it seems to be a case of finding the lesser of a few evils, rather than the best product. I'm told Eclipse.Net is going to be going HTML5 around October.....although they've never managed to hit a deadline since being purchased by capita so make of that what you will. We recently had enough of supporting it, and stumped up the cash to move it to hosted, best thing i ever did to be honest, I'd had enough of supporting it, i paid the installation fee out of my own budget, and persuaded the bursar to give the library the extra to do the yearly fee. I would never go back, it works a lot better this way! Once it goes HTML5 and we get our biometrics link setup between eclipse and our cashless catering system, it should be a pretty good system then.
  7. Exactly the same situation as you, we've had prices for various solutions and everything is crazy expensive. We're almost certainly going the FreePBX route + Sangoma S300 + 500 phones. I've got a consultant near to me (who just happens to be an ex it manager here) who has configured a few voip systems including freepbx so he's going to come in and help me with the initial configuration, i'd recommend having a word with system15.co.uk if you want to pay someone to help you with the install. I've borrowed two yealink phones from them, installed the freepbx prebuilt iso and had it running with the yealink phones and softphones in a matter of minutes, i'd really recommend it.
  8. I'd recommend reading through this post: which probably explains things a lot better than i can. (Unfortunately the table at the top listing buffer sizes is really old but here it is anyway, and no 10gb options, just in case you can't access reddit: http://people.ucsc.edu/~warner/buffer.html) Those switches weren't £2.5k when i purchased them, I found a supplier doing them for £1.7k each....but that's not really much help here i guess I must admit, when i looked last year there were really limited options in terms of a good 10GB iSCSI switch, there were either the dirt cheap options like the dell and netgear which looked fine for general switching but not up to scratch as dedicated iSCSI switches, or really expensive things over £1.5k each....I hope you find something though, it's been a year since i was looking around so maybe something new on the market.
  9. When i needed something for a similar purchase i spent a while pondering over the expensive option (Cisco SG500XG-8F8T) and a cheap solution which was a netgear thing...they essentially looked the same, but like njc235 points out, packet buffer size, which is quite significant for iSCSI. Ensure that the switch has a large enough packet buffer size to cope with the load you're going to put on it. From the looks of that dell switch, Dell Networking X-Series Smart Managed 1GbE and 10GbE Switches | Dell UK it only has a 1mb packet buffer, so dell would be right in recommending you stayed away from that for the purpose of iSCSI. It will work techincally, but it could cause problems. Same situation i had when i looked into them last year really, I ended up biting the bullet and going with 2 x stacked Cisco SG500XG switches. Not regretting it, expensive, but as a purchase that i hope to last a long long time, not a bad buy.
  10. Just purchased 20 lamps for various models to tide us over for the next year or so (we do an inventory of bulb life + projection quality in easter, and purchase in bulk for the coming year...a little more complex than that, but it worked well last year and left us with only 1 bulb remaining ) AV Lamps were our cheapest quote, and they're normally pretty quick on delivery, i'd recommend them: Replacement Projector Lamps & Bulbs, Sony, Infocus, Epson, Hitachi, NEC, Sanyo, Panasonic, Philips Video, Data, Home Cinema, Multimedia LCD Projector Lamps & Bulbs, UK
  11. No, just cuts off the edges, but i think i've found the setting! There's a scale to fit option when i right click a clip in the sequence section, i think that's done the trick....i'll know tomorrow when i playback the DVD that was writing when i left, but from looking at the clip in encore i think that did the trick.
  12. In Premiere Pro, if you have two clips that have been filmed on different cameras and subsequently at different resolutions, how can you make the sequence fit to both? I've never had to do anything complex in here before, just drag the video in, tell it to auto adjust to the clip I'm bringing in, and carry on, but now this has thrown a spanner in the works. If i use it as it is one is either tiny and one normal, or the other way around one is normal and the other is massively zoomed in. So is there a way to force a clip to go down to the resolution of the smaller one? EDIT: one is 1920 x 1080, the other is 720x576 >_< so ideally i need to make them both 720x576. I can use any video converter and change it that way, but surely adobe must have an easier method?
  13. The driver pop up appears when running Kodu, so i presume Kodu needs it as an extension whereas other aspects of micro:bit don't need it? EDIT: I'll have a play around with making a dpinst command to install the driver that way.
  14. Sorry if this has already been asked somewhere, can't find any info. Googlefu is failing me. Anyone know how to install the mbed driver silently? EDIT: This is for use with Kodu, driver install pop up appears when creating a new kodu world with the micro:bit plugged in, then gives you all these cool Kodu microbit controls.
  15. Well they don't show as disconnected but any attempt to access them just sits and never actually times out either, just locks up explorer.
  16. SCEP, no notifications or errors logged for it though, but i guess i can try disabling it and try it again (albeit not today )
  17. Has anyone ever come across this... Windows Server 2012R2 file server + Win7 64 Ent client. copying files to a share on that server, and choosing to overwrite existing files = shares becomes unusable network wide. Requires server restart to get everything back online. However if i delete the files (or the whole folder) first, then copy the files i needed back on to the share, everything works fine. I could even copy across new files into the existing folder before deleting the rest, but if I ever opted to overwrite i was screwed. I'm going to need to test this issue in more detail in the future, but we've just lost a whole lesson thanks to whatever ridiculous bug just occurred. I may need to make my first ever bug submission to microsoft about this one... EDIT: I should add, the file extensions in question are: .rp, .exe, .dll, .xml, .config. I'm not sure if it's an issue with an obscure file type like .rp for example, because i tested overwriting a simple 2kb txt file and it's fine.
  18. I've only just come back to this, haven't touched it in 2 weeks and now i've forgotten where everything is ....where do i go to configure blocking apps? does that need to be done on configurator or can that be on Meraki MDM? Also a new irritating feature.... accessibility > voice over, any way to disable that? or can settings be blocked as a whole?
  19. I know this gets asked constantly in here, but I'm struggling to settle on something, and I'm not sure about what "size" of device I'll need. Need a new firewall this year, apart from the basics i want the following requirements: Application control IPS Nice to have but not essential: Anti malware (find firewalls aren't great at this anyway, but it's nice to have that extra layer, although most charge a yearly fee for this on top of the support?) Web filtering (This would be turned off unless we had an issue with our smoothwall box, but handy to have as a backup) Roughly 650 school owned devices, up to 350 byod at present. 100/100 internet connection. How does pfsense match up to the larger names like fortinet and palo alto? Seems like a nice cheap solution, albeit not the most intuitive from the looks of the interface, what's the edugeek opinion there? As always, any other suggestions please fire away! Note: I know the smoothwall could do this with UTM, but i don't like smoothwalls firewall. Fantastic filter though.
  20. I remember having a bbc micro in primary school, although...my only memory of it is sitting infront of it, stabbing my friend in the eye with a pencil (not on purpose of course) and then not being allowed to play on it....and shortly after the same friend set off the fire alarm by sticking a crayon inside one of those massive gas heaters. Good times.
  21. Id be interested in this too, just searched for a bulb for a Hitachi CP-X615 which is about £160 on another site, and it's £52 on there!!!!
  22. Going back to the topic in the OP, i'm an Impero customer, have been for some years now, but I feel we're no longer getting our monies worth based on the yearly support and maintenance costs we're being asked for. Thanks to this thread i've decided to evaluate NetSupport DNA + School, and having had a play around with it, spending nearly 2 hours in a webex, and another hour chatting to their tech support about different things, i've found only ONE feature that NetSupport doesn't do that Impero can, and even that is a very minor feature that no one in the school but me uses. There's also a few features NetSupport DNA+School does better (power management for one). It's more complicated to setup, but it's going to save a hell of a lot of money for us each year, so right now I'm strongly considering making the switch. Question for edugeekers: Anyone else here made that switch? Please PM me any feedback.
  23. I've already got them as an allowed publisher unfortunately, and annoyingly i get nothing in the event viewer to say what has been blocked or where from... EDIT: i lie, it wasn't displaying in date order, derp. so it does appear to be .tmp files that are being blocked from users local appdata. I wonder if the temp files are always the same name?
  24. Ah so that's why I'm getting the incompatible database error... Just tested, same issue here, disable it and sims updates fine. Eurgh, looking forward to seeing if anyone has any updates to this one? EDIT: I guess this is the only time i'll have this problem though? As this is the last time i have to use SOLUS2 method of updating? Or is anyone with SOLUS3 getting the same issue?
  25. Such wonderful timing, the past 2 weeks i've been playing around with FreePBX, i've got quotes for VOIP phones and I've planned a meeting with a guy i know well to talk all things phones (as he's well trained on them) and hash out any gotchas...come into work this morning and a digital hybrid card has failed in our old PBX Just as I'm trying to sell this new idea to senior management, the digital hybrid card that finance, reception and the heads phone are all on fails. It's so well timed that it looks as if i planned it!
