As mentioned I cannot block just .swf files as they are used, as for saving to a certain area this is something I may implement in the summer when we renew our servers and change years over, the year 11s are the main offenders for downloading games and once they are gone and a new years starts it might be easier to do this rather then mid term! I ilke the ability to send emails to admins and the users tho I'll be using this for shared areas as DaveP suggested.

We are having a slight problem with pupils and flash games (havn't we all). They are sending flash games in using their gateway emails as they cannot use removable storage but odue to ICT lessons we cannot restrict .swf as a path rule like we have for other executables and scripts. Is there any way of using GP to restrict by name content or certain externsions by the name of 'x'? We use sophos which does allow data control to block certain files by names and types of content they include, the compramise using this is any computer using this data control policy is blocked from saving to removal devices direct so users need to move the file using windows explorer. If things were that simple great but I recieved complaints from members of staff when they are unable to save back to their flash drives direct. Is there another way

Turns out smart boards note software causes it! I can disable that, works fine, second you enable it again = laggy I player , not looked into why tho yet will do today

The ability to point staff towards office traning when they ask "how do I copy and paste" for the 500th time makes it even more appealing! I wonder how many hours of video it all accumulates to?

Yes I'm aware they don't offer OSX Server but they offer a wide range of other traning resources, techie08 said he is also "looking for other video courses such as Windows etc."

I can't personally recommend them but I have heared great things about CBTNuggets for self paced traning, having viewed a couple of free samples they seem well written to a high standard and the trainers have a sense of humour which always makes learning better! This is now 120 laptops and near 400 computers and 6 servers couple of NAS and slowly decreasing number of printers out with the old in with fewer new, Oh and half a dozen IPads. I'm more experienced now but January last year this was my first job out of uni BSc Computer Science which realy isn't about tech support and not a single module or mention of networking or server managment so learning on the job

I'm in the process of setting up offline files for a few CLT laptops, I have made a new OU for my test laptop and for my testing user account both use the standard school workstation and staff GPOs but I have changed them to allow offline file sync at logoff and logon. When ever I try to sync I get an access denied warning for all files in the users redireceted documents, desktop and start menu. The shares used for this redirection have full access to everyone, the users documents and all sub folders have read and write permisisons , the desktop and start menus have full read but no write permissions to prevent changes. I've not setup offline files before but I cant find anything on any changes other then those already made. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks. Had more luck trying this with a tech account which has domain admin rights and is roaming, this seemed to offline the centralised redirected folders such as desktop and start menu ok, didnt sync the documents tho which I thought would be included in the default offline folders? I've also been told mandatory profiles will have problems with offline and users must be roaming?

Id expect it will be abit more basic at first and i'd wait until the syllabus is complete.

I have just downloaded the msi for google chrome framework for IE and all appears to work ok! Ill test sending it out ona few later.

Has anyone tryed out this great little site? I've introduced my little brother who just turned 16 this month and he thinks its great, not only that but its competitive with an achievement/badge system allowing him and his mates to compare their results and progress and share this to social network sites. I hated programming at university and I changed from computer science to computer studies in my final year as it never really 'clicked' after the first OO modules but im looking into self teaching using a friends lecture notes from that final year and a number of books I have purchased, having not touched coding for almost 2 years since graduating this website has relaly helped kickstart and remind me of the basics too, its also a great resource to show your IT teachers after Mr Goves radical change up has left many worried for their knowlage and importance and show them its not all bad and resources do exist out there which are approachable. Combined with some basic explenation behind the fundamentals which could accompany the tasks it seems great, and users are contributing to a number of different courses including a walk through of how to make a taxi fare calculating programme and The only problem, IE is not supported but i'm yet try this chromeframe plugin.

I have 1 machine in our school that is as the title suggests chugging along at a terrible framerate on iplayer when full screen, when viewed in its regular window the video plays smooth and looks perfect its only full screen, the machine is the same as the other 49 purchased last year and running the newest Flash 11.1.102.55. The problem only started a few weeks ago but the machine has been in use since installed last summer. I have tryed completly removing flash and reinstalling which didn't help and no additional software to my knowlage is on this machine compared to any of the others.

I upgraded from 10mb to 30mb with virgin last month due to their stupid 1.5Gb cap which isn't hard to hit then having several hours at around 0.3mbps limits and not being able to stream a thing -_- Cap on the 30mb connection is 10Gb which is a nice improvement and a big impovement in speed, I also had a free superhub with the upgrade, which I really dont like but its 1 less plug socket then before with my old telewest modem and router. However last month I was told by virgin my router was dropping packets after I complained about timeout issues, so I replaced it with a new linksys which is now redundant but the wireless was far better on it then this stupid VMSH and less stupid flashy lights, even the option on my linksys to disable the lights on it which I did as the connection comes in via my bedroom and the router is oposite my bed, that SH is like a f#*@ing disco ball with the lights off! I've resulted to ducktape over the lights!

Which features should I disable? Offload recieve TCP Checksum, Offload TCP Segmentation, Offload transmit TCP checksum? Also should these be disabled on both the server and client NICs?

Found some drivers in a storage area we have here but its not helped the problem, any idea why the windows wireless configuration wouldn't pick up security settigns or prompt for wpa-psk? Looking in the wireless adaptor settings wpa2 isnt supported, dam you old laptops!

Im having some problems trying to find the drivers for a samsung P29 laptop, I only really want the WLan drivers as im having wireless problems and want to reinstall them, the wireless card will not detect the security type or ask for a password on wireless networks and its a laptop staff are using out side of school so they want to be able to connect at home. I'd go with virgin having had experience with Sky and im now with virgin just don't go for the low rates as they suck with very low data caps, around 1.5GB over a several hour period download qualifies you to a 75% speed cut, its a way to make you upgrade really as I did last week but im loving the 30MB connection for £15 a month with a much higher evening data cap of 10GB and im seeing 4-5MBs when downloading on steam with other computers on the network using skype and online games at the same time. I've ran the ookla speed tests several times of a morning eveninig and night with no real noticable difference, ping tends to be 25ms highest I had was 30, downloads never dipped below 30MBs often above and upload has never dropped below 3MBs.

Almost a year on and i've managed to clock up over 20k, not had to change or repair a thing just service and some new bulbs Great little car but im looking to sell soon get something abit lower miles and a little quicker and better for motorways as previously mentioned a 6th gear would be great. Fuel wise its amazing ive never averaged below 60mpg and I reset the trip each time I filled up, one of the best hands free kits ive ever seen built in too the offical ford optional extra. Im tempted by the ibiza FR diesel again as my next car having been in a friends a few times and a Honda civic 2.2 CDTI, the only problem is the civics are noticably more expensive and a golf is still way out of my price range unless I drop a few years from the fiesta and go for higher miles which I'd rather not! Oh I did change the wheels a month after buying the car back to ZS alloys and 4 new tyres, now had any buckle problems and I drive on some pretty bumpy country roads daily

Device manager shows no devices marked up as unknown, missing drivers, errors or any signs of what this is. Every device in the list shows as correctly installed and functioning ok. At logon the computer prompts for the drivers for a new device, device is unknown. This hardware driver install window seems to be the only time the computer picks up the device

I have another computer, the same model which I have used the same image on and added the AMT drivers but im getting the same problem with a different device but the 'new hardware detected' screen shows the device as 'Unknown'. When looking in device manager no devices without drivers are shown.

I know netflix is a pretty big thing over in the US far more then LoveFilm is to us, im not a member of either yet but i'll be looking at the pair and comparing as im looking to subscribe its daft not to if you enjoy your films, I thing the big difference is Netflix don't do game rental do they?

Thats pretty good going I normly end up having most a packet if I have a sudden wanting for biscuits! I used to be addicted to energy drinks, mainly Monster almost 1 every day back in 2010 but in 2011 I went about 6 months without any, had a few since then and started to crave them now but limit myself to about 2 per week and always make sure im super careful the rest of the day on food and drink.
