As the poster above said, you need to host a pac file on webserver and point the Auto option in Configurator at its URL, such as http://webserver/pacfile.pac

You can use a Pac file in the proxy settings. In the Pac file, you can add exceptions. We basically use the same Pac file on our iPads as in Windows.

These problems seem to be quite common if you Google them. It seems like Microsoft have released a dodgy installer, I'm sure it will be rectified soon.

I put their prom photos up! You can't really go wrong with that, as you can't upset anyone and they are also far more interested in those.

Well to be fair, you can use a Surface Pro without ever touching the Microsoft app store. No reason why OEMs can't make similar products and market them the same way (as they already do).

OS X in its basic form, if all you do is a bit of Office/iWork work and Internet browsing isn't too bad. It's a lot of money for that, but that's your choice. However, OS X is not a mature operating system - it infuriates me at times on my MBP. It's missing lots of little things Windows has the ability to do (pretty basic things, that OS X ought be able to do), little things you don't notice until you try to do them in OS X, or it makes them a nightmare to do. Windows really is far more mature, capable, grown up and intuitive, especially when the time comes that you actually need to get things done. OS X aside though, I do tend to like Apple stuff. It's nice looking and built to a good standard.

Let's just get rid of the Settings app altogether? Wishful thinking perhaps, I think. :-) Hopefully they can find a solution to that, we could really use Impero on the iPads, as they are number one for messing around on due to the lack of monitor-ability.

I said exactly this to Impero at Bett. They were pretty accepting that this is a weak point and as it is at the moment, not much that can be done about this because of iOS restrictions.

Now Apple need to do something with the Calendar and Reminder apps to stop the students setting random alarms on the things. From my point of view, just allow us to get rid of the apps.

SSO with ADFS is another option. It's something i'll be looking into before long. Having Moodle do the SSO is far too problematic these days.

It could be. I've noticed it doesn't like nested security groups (much to my frustration), so it stands to reason it might not like sub-OUs.

Well, that's one way to stop an account being synced! I can't imagine why it would be syncing all your OUs automatically, I remember having to state each OU manually. Are you trying to sync the root Users OU? Either way, I'd expect you should be able to exclude any sub-OUs in Users by the way you are doing it. I'm not sure I can help much more, as it's not something I've tried. :-)

Didn't Easyjet try this argument a number of years ago? I (vaguely) recall they attempted to block the use of "easy" in names in case they wanted to enter that market in the future, such as easyCruise, easyHotel, or whatever. Either way, I can't remember the outcome!

I assume you've put this exclusion in the Org Units section of GADS? If so, I think you will probably have to do an exclusion of some kind in the User Accounts section too. I never tried to exclude an OU per se, as the way you are trying to do, we were just very explicit in which OUs and users we synced (based on a security group membership), so that's a little guess work on my part from what I know about GADS.

This is litigation for litigation's sake in my opinion, and there seems to be a lot of this these days. I should have been a lawyer. They are the real winners in these cases.

It doesn't error out. It updates existing accounts with some kind of identifier, presumably so it can easily identify it in GADS' local records for sync purposes. If the user's name or other parameters that you have populated in Google Apps have changed, and you set GADS to populate these parameters in Google Apps from AD records, it will update them to reflect the AD accounts. Just be cautions with GADS and exclude any accounts you may not want to sync to Google Apps, and perhaps more importantly, exclude any Google accounts that may exist in Google Apps that don't exist in AD that you want to keep. If you don't exclude them, in the case of the latter, GADS will delete them!

This is something that happens with ours regularly. It truly winds me up, especially as there is no way to stop it.

1) Create an image that's the size of the highest resolution you have (or likely to have in the future) around school. On this layer, set whatever generic background colour, pattern, gradient or design you like on this layer. Be aware, bits of this might be lost in step 4. 2) Then take the lowest resolution you may want it to work with (for example, netbooks) and create a guide box / frame that is semi transparent that size, that is centred on the centre point of the main image on a different layer. 3) Add another layer, and use the guide created in step 3 to create whatever you want to be visible on all screens in this box. When done, hide the guide layer and export image. 4) When setting the wallpaper in GPO, set it to be centered rather than stretched or tilled. Always worked for me doing it this way.

I just wish they would release the Prime Video app for Roku. It's irritating, as they have it on the Roku in the US!

We had an issue like this last year when using deployed Chrome. We disabled Google Safe Search via Chrome's GPO template and the issue went away. As we only allow staff YouTube access, this was acceptable. I certainly wouldn't want to turn that off in the students Chrome settings.

I really don't fancy trying it myself. According to iFixIt everything has to come out, and I'm really not so good with tear-downs and the hundreds of tiny screws. - - - Updated - - - Thanks :-) I'm in the UK, not the NL. I'm not sure why I have a Dutchie flag!
