  1. To put a slightly different spin on the question, since we support multiple sites we'll always try and use VNC to offer remote assistance to the user without having to move anything anywhere. That aside however, we follow the same as above, users are encouraged wherever possible to deliver the equipment to us, but if it's a fixed installation or we believe that the problem is related to the environment we'll visit and assist.
  2. I must say it's a very good price. This may seem like a stupid question given the title but is this still locked to T-Mobile or has it been unlocked?
  3. Can anyone confirm if anything more than a TV license is required to show the game for free, in the canteen for example?
  4. A relatively quiet week here, I plan to: - Finishing the replacement of our locally installed instances of McAfee AV with a nicely managed Sophos system (mainly the laptops left, groan) - Taking FULL advantage of having the sites to ourselves to crack as many helpdesk tasks as humanly possible - Supervising the sparks installing a new power feed to our axillary comms room
  5. I have to add that I'm more than a little jealous of all you who're able to take part in these trips, I can never imagine my management agreeing to let me go!
  6. IIRC that port is used by Adobe's Real time Messaging Protocol Real Time Messaging Protocol - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia which is used for streaming flash audio and video on youtube and the like.
  7. If I'm reading that correctly it would suggest that GPO's lower down the chain have priority, and that as such yes a GPO applied to a sub OU (your own GPO) would overwrite those higher above it (your LEA's). So in other words yes it would.
  8. I also rather like 1989 NISSAN MICRA GS AUTO BLUE on eBay (end time 15-Mar-10 21:05:43 GMT)
  9. For those without WSUS, so far I've not had much luck locating any registry keys or files to fool this software into thinking that the user's already selected IE as their default browser. We're therefore trying a different approach and one of my colleagues is creating a VBScript to run at login that will take this out of the HKCU/Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Run and delete the shortcut, hopefully preventing it being run in the first place.
  10. We don't have a WSUS, making this task a little more difficult for us. However in Windows Update it is listed as a high priority update: Microsoft Browser Choice Screen Update for EEA Users of Windows XP (KB976002) Download size: 559 KB , less than 1 minute I have tried a couple of other workstations and it appears to come up on all of them.
  11. So much for a March 1st rollout, this has just downloaded as a high priority update to one of my workstations. Has anyone else experienced this?
  12. I stand corrected then, I didn't realise that was the case. Just goes to show you learn something every day.
  13. I don't know exactly what engine that is, I've never been too knowledgeable about cars, as long as it goes I'm happy. I'm also reminded of a time when I saw a Y cable that had been PAT tested on both ends of the cable.
  14. After seeing the attached example in the motor vehicle teaching area on one of our campuses I'm given to wonder; what is the strangest object you've seen PAT tested. Bonus points for photos of the sticker in place!
  15. 199 And here's some other text because the post is too short.
  16. As part of one of our games design courses run in partnership with a local university we are required to run Unreal Tournament 3. I've managed to install this onto our machines without issue but the problem comes when I try to put the CD Key in. I can input the CD key logged in as myself and it will work fine but as soon as I login as a different user I'm prompted for the CD key again. I've tried the following with no effect: Copying my own profile over that of Default User, then logging in as a new user. Copying the "My Games" folder from My Documents into another user's My Documents. Using the -nohomedir switch on the shortcut. Copying the config files from My Documents\My Games to the app dir (in Program Files). Interestingly enough, with this last approach the files were recreated in my own My Documents without issue, but only for me and not any other users. If anyone's managed this in the past or has any ideas of what could be worth trying I'd be most grateful.
  17. This is not fair, I'd love one of these! But at 20 the insurance would probably be about the same price as the car!
  18. You know, I've used that username for years and had never even noticed that!
  19. I've just contacted them for a rather obscure replacement part, they've managed to source and quote within 20 minutes of my original email. Very impressed.
  20. It didn't cost me anything with Direct Line either
  21. nephilim that'd be brilliant if you could, let me know how much you want for them. Of course, it's just the battery cover I'm interested in not the battery itself.
  22. I wasn't sure whether to post this here or in the suppliers forum so feel free to move as needed. One of my departments has a working Toshiba Satellite Pro A120, part number PSAC1E-05V021EN however somehow the battery cover has walked (for those of you not familiar with this model, the battery sits in an internal bay with a separate plastic cover, in the same way a HDD does) I've looked on eBay and have messaged a few sellers on there but nobody wants to get back to me. I did manage to find one lot (TOSHIBA SATELLITE PRO A120 BOTTOM BASE PSAC1E-04TOOYEN on eBay (end time 22-Nov-09 13:12:30 GMT)) which seems to be the complete lower plastic assembly but the seller did not reply to my question regarding if this did still include the battery cover. If anyone has one of these kicking about, or if any of the suppliers are able to source one for me I'd be very grateful.
  23. Thanks for the plug, and I can confirm we're not looking for a network manager either.
  24. I've used the HP Drive Key Boot Utility with great success in the past http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?swItem=MTX-UNITY-I23839 And to answer the obvious first question, yes it will work with other brands (although I have only tested with Kingston). You simply select a USB drive letter, feed it a floppy and away you go.
  25. With the closing date approaching I thought I'd give this a bump incase anybody's missed it.
