  1. Our copy has failed to play on two computers, but managed to play on the one in the Auditorium. Our teachers want to make copies, which it doesn't look like we can do.
  2. I'm looking to edit some of the text on our Entrysign system. When you click Visitors and Sign in, it then displays some information saying "Welcome to . Please read and abide with the information provided on our visitor information sheet" and a few other lines. Does anyone know how to edit this text?
  3. That's good news. You'd be tied down to certain ratios for network points if it was through PSBP. One thing I'd add is find out how your server room/comms rooms is locked, and get it on a separate system to the rest of the school doors. We have an 'IT' key, which does the same as a normal teacher, but also has access to the server room and our two comms rooms.
  4. That's great. Is it through the Priority Schools Building Programme, or through another scheme?
  5. I've put a feature request in to Impero support to allow unencrypted USB drives to be read-only, but I'm not sure how high that is on their list of priorities.
  6. Currently on Windows 7, probably looking at spending this next year looking at Windows 10, before rolling it out in Summer 2019.
  7. Is the new building going to be built from scratch, or are you fitting out an existing building?
  8. We don't give them laptops, but most of our work is done on G Suite for Education. If they do need certain apps, I have RemoteApp set up. I also have HAP set up if they need to upload/download files into/from their 'My Documents' folder or the shared area.
  9. We use Impero's SentryStick software, so I can allow Microbits through that, as well as encrypted USB storage.
  10. Not the same phone, but my Wileyfox Swift 2 started displaying the same sort of battery issues when I installed the updates to 8 and 8.1. I also got random reboots thrown in for good measure. They admitted there were some bugs in 8.1. Their fix was: 1. Turn off "Jump to camera" - go into settings, click the search button and type "camera". Turn off jump to camera. 2. Turn your device off, hold volume down and the power button for 5 seconds. Then use the volume down button to hover over "wipe cache partition" and use the power button to click yes. Can't hurt to try these steps!
  11. You can restrict a Chromebook to only allow a certain user to log in by using the 'Restrict Sign-in to list of users' option, but you'll have to create a separate OU for each Chromebook to get different users for each Chromebook...
  12. I agree with fiza. Give the students their own accounts and let them use whichever Chromebook they like. You can do a CSV upload to do them in bulk.
  13. Ours worked fine too. We were sent the file as a plain li2 file.
  14. You have to make sure your global Directory is switched on, and then Directory sharing is switched on for each user. I sometimes find that new users take a while before they appear in the Directory, but a week seems excessive.
  15. Just for the record, we applied patch 24068 and imported some CTF files. One of our families has the father and the grandfather with exactly the same name. The father had only an email address in his CTF record, and the grandfather only had two telephone numbers. When SIMS matched them together, it created a single contact with two telephone numbers and an email address, but managed to put that single contact in for both the father and the grandfather. If you tried to edit the grandfather, SIMS wouldn't save, would crash and the error said that it couldn't save a duplicate ID (as it was trying to save the merged contact twice). Reported it to Capita and they have said that it is an isolated incident, even though it is clearly going through the matching process.
  16. We're using Impero to block any USB drives that are not encrypted, and we're offering to BitLocker staff's own drives.
  17. I store ours in Google Drive. If it's a USB device I've encrypted, I also share it with the member of staff.
  18. It's a shame they won't allow the 7z format, as that can encrypt file names.
  19. New update from AQA, stating that they are happy to use Winzip or Bitlocker. There is also a link to some guidance on how to encrypt media and a form to be emailed separately with the password on it.
  20. As I posted earlier in this thread, we got this from [email protected]: "Thanks for your email. We're currently in the process of reviewing how GDPR affects our processes, encypted/unencrypted data being included in this, and we'll be contacting all schools with further guidance. In the meantime, we would be happy to recieve encrypted data sent on a memory stick. BitLocker is the preferred encryption feature. You can email the encyption key separately to us at [email protected] and we'll forward it on to your moderator."
  21. We use UltraVNC with AD Authentication. You have to be in a specific AD group to be allowed to remotely connect and for your AD authentication to work, so easy to manage who has access.
  22. No specifics unfortunately, but my intention is to encrypt it with 7-Zip using AES-256 encryption and as a ZIP file. As it's free software, there is no cost to the Exam Board or moderator.
  23. The encrypted DVD will go with the moderator, which is a separate delivery route to the email. The password is useless without having the disk, and vice-versa.
  24. We use Google Chrome Sign builder and any of our Chromebooks where the screen doesn't work but the HDMI output still does. We just run a Google Slides presentation on a loop. We can just share the presentation with anyone that we want to be able to edit it. We have some that show the same presentation, and others have a different one on a different schedule.
  25. Pearson have just confirmed with our Exams Officer that they are happy to receive videos if it is encrypted on a DVD, and the password emailed separately.
