Subject Access Request Emails

@IT_Guru_Edu That was the impression I got from our Microsoft licensing partner when it came to Purview\e-discovery even though we already have A5 Security bolt-on -
Windows Security - Java(TM) Platform SE binary

So maybe I was wrong when I said I had used the "exact" path, that will teach me to type instead of copy\paste Turns out, one those underscores is two underscores together...all working now -

@Steve21 @TooOld4This Thanks both, all working now -
SOLUS 3 - Install failed - Access denied to the remote machine
Bankesy replied to Bankesy's topic in MIS Systems
@TooOld4This Thanks, those are the normal firewall rules that SIMS gave me, tried them on one client and issue is resolved. Have tried adding in to Windows Firewall GPO but not sure if the rule groups are inbound or outbound? -
SOLUS 3 - Install failed - Access denied to the remote machine
Bankesy replied to Bankesy's topic in MIS Systems
@Steve21 I'm not really sure if the normal firewall exclusions were deployed as I inherited the setup but I assume they were for anything to work in the first place. Your suggestion makes sense, as I say, the SOLUS3 Deployment Service has moved server. The only obvious firewall rule I could see on clients was one allowing the ports required for SOLUS, will try adding the normal firewall rules to one client and see what that does. In my mind, an error about credentials isn't the same as an error about ports\firewall, which we were getting initially after the move until I edited that one firewall rule that I could see. Thanks -
SOLUS 3 - Install failed - Access denied to the remote machine
Bankesy posted a topic in MIS Systems
Good evening, Hoping somebody has experienced this issue before and can guide me in the right direction. SIMS helpdesk moved our installation of SOLUS onto a different server in order to fix an issue with downloading and installing patches etc. But now we cannot deploy SIMS to new clients because we just get hit with an 'Access denied to the remote machine, check the username and password you supplied are valid for the remote machine' Using credentials that we always used before the installation was moved. SIMS say it is the network, firewall, Windows Updates etc. and I will admit that the setup I inherited was unusual because the SOLUS3 Deployment Service didn't sit on the same server as the database (does now) and was using custom ports rather than SIMS suggested but I edited firewall rules to match SIMS suggested setup and was able to update SIMS on an existing client. Any ideas welcome, thanks in advance. -
Windows Security - Java(TM) Platform SE binary
Bankesy replied to Bankesy's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
@BKGarry thanks for the suggestion, have tried that and noted this interesting (to me anyway) observation: On the client side, the firewall rule for the exe only shows as applied by administrator and cannot be edited, this differs to my rule with the whole path which does not show this. I didn't create a new rule for the exe only, just changed the one that previously had the whole path so now I have two questions as to why on the client side the rule with the full path wasn't just overwritten to be the exe only and why the exe only rule shows with admin restrictions and the path rule doesn't? Maybe because the path rule has been 'left behind' and is now seen as local only? On another note, if I use the prompt in the screenshot to add the rule, it adds a duplicate rule, the exact same as the rule I created with the full path. In my mind it would complain about a duplicate and oddly it seems to honor the rule that gets created from the prompt but not the one from GPO. -
Good afternoon all, Hoping somebody can point out where I might be going wrong here with the attached screenshot, in steps: 1. Arduino is installed via Intune as a Windows Store app 2. Upon first launch, students are met with the attached screenshot 3. So I added the exact path from the screenshot to an existing computer GPO for Windows Firewall rules and I can see the rule is applied if I check Windows Firewall on the client 4. Students are still met with the screenshot when launching Arduino I thought adding a rule for that path would stop the students from being prompted and just allow it to run but maybe I am misunderstanding something here. Any advice welcome, thanks in advance.

Good morning all, Does anybody have any advice about the most efficient way to meet an SAR in terms of finding all emails sent that might include the subject in the title or body of the email, please? Thank you

@Synesthesia Thanks, Adobe are saying it is a known Microsoft issue: https://support.microsoft.com/en-au/topic/unexpected-uac-prompts-when-running-msi-repair-operations-after-installing-the-august-2025-windows-security-update-5806f583-e073-4675-9464-fe01974df273#:~:text=Symptoms,Windows%20Installer%20during%20Active%20Setup -
Creative Cloud browser login annoyance

@synaesthesia @timbo343 Hope you don't me posting this here as I was going to start a new thread anyway but it sounds like you have both deployed Adobe apps and I am struggling with this since moving to Windows 11. I've got Photoshop installing via Intune fine apart from when the students log in to Windows they are greeted with the attached regarding a Microsoft print driver install, any ideas, please? I followed the Adobe guide on deploying Photoshop via Intune and don't think I have done anything wrong in that regard. -
Good afternoon all, Does anybody have any experience with setting up or using a simple logon tracker to trace which accounts are being logged onto which device at what time, please? In my last place I know we had something simple that just created text files with this info but never knew how it worked. Any help is appreciated, as always. Thank you

Hi all, Does anybody have any experience with deploying the Arduino IDE to devices for all users, please? Ideally via Intune, but any method will do. I've tried the MSI and the command suggested from one of their own forum threads, but it didn't appear to do anything. By default, just running the installer appears to install it for the logged-on user. Thank you

@MYK-IT @garethedmondson Glad I stumbled upon this thread, I always get in touch with the AutoDesk chat function and ask for the installer, then manually install it onto PCs that need it. Sounds like you have both found a good way to automate the deployment, but I have never used PDQ Deploy; I assume it is not free. Initially, I had hoped to deploy Fusion via Intune, but I gave up.

I saw this issue with a couple of users here, but didn't think too much of it, as not every file was affected, and it seemed intermittent. Glad I found this thread. I thought it had something to do with moving to Win 11\latest version of SMART over the Summer.

Hi all, We have several Intel NUCs which enter a deep sleep/hibernation when not used for a while. The power button will be flashing blue, but they don't wake up when the power button is pressed, nor do they wake up to keyboard or mouse input. Has anybody seen this with any hardware? I'm thinking BIOS, graphics drivers, maybe a GPO. Thanks in advance

Good morning all, Does anyone have a contact or a company they use for their mobile SIM contracts and management, please? Other than going to O2 direct, for example. Thanks

Good afternoon, We have been experiencing a bit of a quirk with Windows 11 startup on some devices, and it only seems to occur after a short while (potentially after Intune enrollment, but that could be coincidental). Devices will image fine and work for a bit without issue, but then seemingly at random will go into Startup Repair and ask for a BitLocker code at next boot. We didn't see this on the same devices when they ran Windows 10, and I have verified their Windows 11 compatibility. I'm wondering if it could be driver-related.
-
Thanks @Smokebomb I actually got one of the apps working on Windows 10 devices but the other app is for Windows 11 devices that don't even appear in Intune so maybe that issue above has prevented devices from syncing at all in the first place.

Good morning everybody, I'm facing a slightly strange issue that I have not seen with Intune before when deploying Win32 apps, in that Intune and clients appear not to even try to install those apps. This only appears to be affecting the last two apps that I added (Thonny and TechSoft Design V3). Not sure what I could have done wrong here, as I have deployed Win32 apps before, and I don't have much to go on because they are not failing. Has anybody ever seen this behaviour? Maybe I will just delete them from Intune and start again. Thanks in advance to anyone who has any ideas or suggestions.

@Zedster1974-MGS I think what you're suggesting is pretty much what I went through with Microsoft when I opened a ticket. They gave me some steps for downloading, creating the package and installing via command line, which worked for both individual PCs and MDT. Maybe I just did something slightly wrong the first time, but not sure what, because it feels like the same process to me.

Good morning all, I am hoping somebody out there has experience with deploying Microsoft Office to Windows 11 using MDT, but I know this is not the recommended way. I am convinced that I have created the installation and the config file correctly, imported them to MDT and set them as part of the task sequence. But, after successful installation, apps such as Word display an error about the need for a device license even though I have set the install XML for shared activation because we license the users. It looks like MDT is successfully installing Office, but ignoring the install XML and just defaulting to the device license. Does anybody have any advice, please? Thank you

This app has been blocked by your system adminstraor
Bankesy replied to Millsy79's topic in Windows 11
@Millsy79 , we often see this, but that is because we have AppLocker policies. -
@chris_uk Thanks, but I think I am a bit confused as to where this is getting me. I have the setup.exe and the XML in the MDT deployment share, and Office gets installed from that as part of the task sequence. I can't see anything relating to the version in the XML
