I've encountered issues where removing built-in apps has lead to system instability or issues with other built-in apps. I just decided to leave them in the OS and use AppLocker to deny access to them because it saved so much time. Sure, it doesn't look great but it still prevents the users from accessing the apps. I used to remove built-in apps using Powershell scripts during OSD deployment but I encountered issues with either broken/unstable apps because a dependency was removed and they'd come back with an in-place feature upgrade. This was most noticeable with the Store app and I wanted to deploy an AppX package site-wide. I couldn't because a Store app dependency was missing and it cannot be added again once removed and I ended up having to re-image the machines. Now I just just compare the AppX packages on the old and new versions of Windows and add additional apps to AppLocker.

If something like that were real, there would be an official statement from France's educational body or some other official office/authority.

My bird box hasn't been used in a while, previously used by a pair of blue tits. I cleared it out yesterday, to help entice new birds into the box and found the carcass of a blue tit. Due to degradation, I couldn't tell if it was one of the adults or the chick. It appeared to have the full feather colouring, so if it was a chick, it can't have been far off leaving the nest. This is the one thing I hate about having a bird box.

We received a bunch of emails last night that all of our backups failed due to not being able to access the backup location. The backup device is a QNAP TVS-1271-U-RP with 8x 3TB drives in a iSCSI RAID6 array and ReFS as the file system. The error VEEAM reported was: I cannot access the E: drive from This PC and I receive the following message: As this is our backup solution, we haven't lost any live data, however I want to get this sorted as soon as possible, as our secondary backups are now our primary backups and a couple of weeks out of date. I suspect I've lost all backups from the QNAP. This is the first time I've come across this issue, is there a way to recover from this without data loss? If not and I lose all that data, do I just format the volume from Disk Management in Windows (Server 2019) and start again, or do I have to do something from the QNAP interface?

I'd be opposed to the idea if I was asked to do this. Even if it's not an AD/AAD account, there has to be some kind of accountability. Some of these educational websites have messaging or posting systems (like a VLE), where a student could log on as someone else and send/post a hateful message. If that message has safeguarding implications, it could be difficult to prove who posted it, given anyone can log on as anyone else. I can't think of any more examples of misuse at the moment that would help prevent this. If you are required to do this, then the safest way to do this that I can think of, would be to reset the passwords on a class-by-class basis, whilst they're in the room. Also ensure that there is a force change password option on the website(s). If you cannot force the change of password after a reset, chances are a lot of students won't change it from the default one you set. That way you're not resetting everyone's at the same time.

I can see why it may grate on some people, especially those that didn't like the movie adaptation of Watchmen. Gerrard Way, the creator of the comic has said that the Watchmen comics were his inspiration and it wouldn't exist if they didn't. Obviously the movie was also an inspiration on the TV show and with Gerrard Way being a musician himself, I can understand the music tie-ins. Personally I quite enjoy them. Season 1 took a little while to build and was a lot better towards the end. Season 2 builds on the progression of season 1.

I assume you've included MDT with SCCM? If so, you can adjust unattend.xml to specify the en-GB language settings. Another adjustment to make: In the Apply Windows Settings section, specify the Timezone and set it to UTC+00:00) Dublin, Edinburgh, Lisbon, London. This will set your OS to the correct time zone, and thus time.

The Old Guard 7/10 Felt like watching an action flick, so stuck that on Netflix. Follows watching Extraction a couple of months ago. Whilst it's not on the same 'action' level as Extraction, I really enjoyed it. Charlize Theron can kick some serious ass and she performs most of her own stunts. I'd give a summary of the plot, but I couldn't word it better than LeMarchand did.

I did at one point create collections to try and find duplicate MAC addresses or find a specific UUID (I think the UUID is listed in the PXE boot screen on the client when attempting to get a DHCP address). Ah. I was hoping that it was just a configuration issue. Rather than using WMI filters, I think I'll just stick to having two separate policies.

It's been a good few years since I've had that error and I can't remember what exactly happened or the resolution, but you could try: Search for devices named "Unknown" in SCCM. The only two you should have are "x64 Unknown Computer" and "x86 Unknown Computer". Delete all others that are listed, then wait a few minutes and try again.

We've been using MBAM for a while now and I'm in the process of migrating MBAM from a standalone server into SCCM. For reasons I can no longer remember, we have separate OUs for laptops that have TPMs and ones that don't. This is specifically for a GPO that is applied to it for MBAM, specifically for the setting "Operating system drive encryption settings". TPM laptops: Allow BitLocker without a compatible TPM (requires a password): Disabled Select protector for operating system drive: TPM only Configure minimum PIN length for startup: 8 Non-TPM laptops: Allow BitLocker without a compatible TPM (requires a password): Enabled Select protector for operating system drive: TPM and PIN Configure minimum PIN length for startup: 8 When I originally implemented MBAM, I think we only had one GPO for OS drives to deal with both TPM and non-TPM laptops. However I think we had issues where the TPM laptops were also asking for passwords, despite they wouldn't need one due to using the TPM chip. Without the password setting applied, non-TPM laptops wouldn't encrypt. Now that I'm migrating to SCCM, I'd rather only have one OS policy applied and it can deal with both TPM and non-TPM laptops. Is there a way to do this? Or have I had this wrong the whole time? Or do I have to continue with having two separate policies?

Dark - Netflix I didn't know about this until someone mentioned it to me and why didn't I know about it sooner?! It's entirely German, with German actors, set in a small fictional German town. It won an Emmy and is a highly recommended Sci-Fi thriller involving a time travel conspiracy spanning multiple generations and destiny/fate. I'm really, really enjoying it and I have three episodes of season 3 remaining. I might smash through that this evening. It can be hard to follow the threads of all the characters, especially following past and future characters. Season 3 takes this to a whole new level and it's taking me some effort to track it all! By default Netflix enables English dubbing - but I highly recommend to turn the audio back to the original German language and use subtitles. The English dubbing is horrendous and you lose all verbal emotion. Using the German audio you get a much better and more believable experience. I cannot stress this enough.

I've got two imprints of pigeons on my bedroom windows. Dozy birds. I'm in a ground floor flat and have a small tree ~3m away from the windows, where I've hung 1x seed feeder and 1x suet/nut feeder. I did have plastic ones, but the squirrels made short work of those. I've since gotten metal ones with a cage around them, so small birds can get inside. It doesn't stop the larger birds or squirrels reaching in, but at least they last...the plastic ones lasted half a day! I frequently see Cole Tits, Blue Tits, Robins, Black Birds, Starlings, Magpies, Pigeons and Squirrels around. I have a small nest box on the wall just outside the window, which has been there for a couple of years now. Last year I had Blue Tits nest, then Cole Tits later in the year. I did have Blue Tits in it earlier this year, but I haven't seen them for months now and I don't think they were there long enough to raise chicks. I've been holding off taking it off to clean it out though.

Hamilton Really enjoyed it - I can see why everyone was raving about it years ago. Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga Didn't enjoy this as much as I thought. Will Ferrell is hit and miss for me and this was more of a miss. I did laugh a few times and there were some good songs.

Nooo, we've been exclusively buying Casio projectors for years. I'll have to research some other good bulbless projectors with a low TCO. Not for us, there are multiple factors in play. The main one is that all our classrooms are kitted out with the infrastructure for projectors and interactive boards, specifically (older) SMART boards and SMART Notebook. This means that when a projector dies, it's cheaper to replace that, instead of purchasing and mounting a SMART TV, which are by no means cheap.

I picked up Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice and Titanfall 2 for about £11 total. Great price for the two. Hellblade is an excellent third person story driven game exploring mental health. Titanfall 2 is a great FPS that went largely under the radar at release.

The Social Network - 7/10 I missed this when it came out and quite enjoyed it. Based on the creation of Facebook. A good performance and some big names in it! 7500 - 8/10 New film on Amazon staring Joseph Gordon-Levitt. I heard about it from Empire Magazine's podcast review and my brother-in-law is a pilot with Ryan Air, so I find it all interesting. The film is almost entirely set within the cockpit of a passenger airliner and it shows a hijacking from the pilot's point of view. I really enjoyed it. I actually mentioned it to my brother-in-law before I actually saw the film and he went ahead and watched it. He also really liked it and said that up until the hijacking occurs, it's almost uncanny as to the procedures depicted, even down to the language, attitude and humour used. His main criticism is that once a hijacking occurs, especially over Europe, you will be on the ground anywhere from 10-18 minutes. Obviously the film has some creative license and is portraying a human story.

Just started playing Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice (using headphones as recommended). I'm super intrigued so far. I've heard such good things about it.

Space Force - 8/10 I'm surprised I like this because I usually hate comedies like The Office. I really enjoyed it! The Last Dance - 9/10 An excellent 10-part documentary based on Michael Jordan and The Chicago Bulls in that famous period. The Trip to Spain and The Trip to Greece Like the other parts to this series, I've enjoyed it since it moved to Sky. NCIS Caught up with previous series that I'd let pile up over the past couple of years. Still enjoy it because I'm so invested in it. NCIS: Los Angeles Like with NCIS, I'm too invested to give up!

I really enjoyed Mass Effect: Andromeda when I originally played it, though admittedly it was a little while after launch. I agree with your points though, a lot of fetch quests. The game was quite buggy, which drew a lot of criticism, though the bugs were patched out quite quickly. By then though, the damage had already been done, it quickly picked up a reputation and it became the in thing to bash it by trolls online. It's a game I plan on revisiting at some point.

Midsommar - 5/10 I don't usually do horror films, but a podcast I've been listening to were going to discuss this (along with Hereditary, which I also haven't seen). I didn't particularly like Midsommar, though I do think Florence Pugh is an excellent actor. It was an OK film with some messed up themes, it just didn't tick my boxes.

I completely fell off the fitness wagon a few weeks ago. Trying to get back into it, but my motivation to do it has completely gone.

Sadly my nan passed away this morning after testing positive for COVID-19 last week. She was 87, suffered from Alzheimer's disease in a care home for the past 8 years. She was under sedation when she passed, so at least it was peaceful.
