We use Classic shell but its also happening on those without. We had these issues from day one of testing W10 and looks like it still hasn't been sorted out. We've upgraded about 1/3 of our PCs to W10 as a trial, so far I'm regretting it!

This was still happening for me on both 10 and 2016 despite the latest CU being installed as above. But oddly it hasn't done it this week!

Anyone having issues with the start button and menu hanging? We've got this on various random 1703 PCs, the start button does nothing and only the desktop icons and ctrl alt del option still work. The only thing that fixes it is a log off.

It's wifi, and it simply doesn't reconnect when the wifi comes back on, it's the latest iPad on iOS 10.3.3 but needs a toggle of the wifi to get it to come back on. We have our wifi close off over the weekend, mainly a security precaution but it works fine with other devices such as laptops and printers.

Cheers, it was a bit of a long shot, and we've got this setup using AC2 at the moment.

Can anyone recommend an app that will restart an iPad on a regular schedule? We have system that doesn't seem to auto-reconnect to the wireless once the wifi is switched off over a weekend (xirrus schedule) - manually toggling the wifi works but I'd rather automate this somehow!

Are you using Printer Deployment, or adding them by Preferences? The Policy I had to change was Computer\Administrative Templates\Printers\Extend Point and Print connection to search Windows Update - Allowing this seemed to help where it didn't think the right driver was on the server, even though I had the latest x86 and x64 drivers on there. Another foible of W10.

I've had weird things like this before and sometimes the fix is to use an alternative driver, or preload the driver onto the pc image, which isn't always practical. I think there is also a group policy setting to allow pcs to download printer drivers from the internet if it can't find them on the server?

Found it!: 1. Open regedit 2. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> SOFTWARE -> Microsoft -> Windows -> CurrentVersion -> Policies -> System 3. On the right, you will see ConsentPromptBehaviorAdmin, ConsentPromptBehaviorUser ... etc. 4. click on empty space, ADD DWORD(32bit), then name it "EnableLinkedConnections". Double click it and set the data to 1. 5. Reboot and you will see the mapped drives showing I remember that little bug from way back, nice to see it lives on!

Its a 4000, and I've tried both drivers from nVidia and MS own drivers. Gave up and stuck in an old PNY card which is now working. Shame as the 4000 is a decent card!

Honestly, I feel every install of W10 brings up what should be a fixed problem! Today I put 1703 on a PC, and the mapped drives appear in explorer - but not through the file explorer dialogue in any applications! I'm sure there was a fix for this but I can't seem to find it! Apart from using Windows Vista, which is looking pretty solid right now.

Updated 1703 on a PC with an nVidia Quadro in it, latest drivers installed (2017 from nVidia) Now only 1 in 10 boots (at best!) will show the Windows login screen - it always shows the bios and initial spinning wheel but most of the time the display doesn't come on. Something else for the W10 1703 'things that break' section!

I'm quite happy to switch to electric cars when they're ready to replace ICE cars, but the thing that will never change is the complete and utter incompetence of those who manage our roads. In the region I live, every single set of major roadworks over the last two decades that has been done on the basis of 'improvements' has,without exception, resulted in worse traffic problems almost overnight. Traffic lights on roundabouts seems to be the latest thing which always creates bigger queues. Councils seem to take an active delight in making people's commutes longer, so I just know I'll be sitting in the same mess in ten years time, just in a battery powered car!

We have tried everything over the years from quality made ones to utter cheap rubbish and they all ended up the same way, picked apart and broken. Now we only provide the audio socket and the kids use their own headphones. They all have mobile phones on them so they will all have headphones in their pockets as well! Having said that, they have vandalised a lot of the headphone sockets as well, the joys of working in a prison, sorry, school environment!

Cheers, that sort of works but I've disabled the very same service using group policy and it's ignored. The service still runs. Makes me wonder what else is being ignored in the latest release. The registry setting works in the sense that the icon is still there when they login, but it disappears when your hover the mouse over it. Totally half baked results as usual.

Stick this one in the bug pile - since the latest crappy update the Windows Security Centre keeps appearing in the toolbar. So I disabled the Windows Security Center Service in the group policy. 1703 ignores this and locks the service start as automatic, and you can't even change it as an administrator. I'm starting to wonder whether MS are actively removing group policy as a tool these days.

Ahh that makes sense, theres some restrictive permissions on those keys so it explain why normal preferences aren't being applied!

It doesn't seem to work if you put those registry entries in as Computer Preferences in a GPO - shame really as I thought that was the better way to add registry entries these days I wonder if its down to the permissions on those keys?

Cheers, I'll give it a try that way, I'd been doing it manually on some test PCs to see if it worked. It did work but they got errors when clicking the file explorer in the task bar for some reason.

That looks familiar, although I confess I didn't do both 32 and 64 bit hives! Have you pushed this out using a GPO preference or scripted it? I know those reg entries need their permissions changed to access them

I take it there still isn't a clean (i.e GPO!) way to hide the Quick Access folders in W10? I've searched and can't find anything other than a lot of people who want to remove it! I've tried the registry method but it seems flakey and causes the File Explorer to error out sometimes as well.

We've got a primary which has a single trolley of ipads and a macbook. Normally we've used AC2 and a VPP account to download apps. However recently it just hangs at the 'Downloading Apps' stage. I've done a full reset of the ipads and re-supervised them but it still hangs at the same point. Now the only thing thats changed (quite a few months ago) is a new ISP but looking at their logs I can't see anything being blocked, is there any sites (apart from the whitelised *.apple.com) that AC2 connects to to download Apps?

We've used Applocker on 10 for a little while, and no messages have appeared for blocked applications. Its something we gave up on and continue using SRP instead.

Classic Shell/Start Menu for us here, the Windows 10 menu system is buggy and awful and poorly catered for in Group Policy settings. Once you've got a policy setup for CSM its easy to forget you're using a third party tool.

Those entries seem blocked for anything I try, can't change permissions,edit entries, take ownership or anything. I think microsoft have forgotten what an 'administrator' is supposed to be. Edit: Should have read that more thoroughly! I could deleted those as the local admin account. I'll reboot it a few times now and see what happens.
