We've got a few HP DX5150 SFF machines that we're rebuilding in a bit of a shuffle round. They are mostly all looping on the XP install part of the build. Is this a driver issue. I had three machines building for two days and eventually they went through. I've used these setup disks many times before.

It's a network printer which is connected to our CC3, drivers installed on our DC. Works fine with the Windows machines. Having said that, a kid has just told me, it *sometimes* does it with him, but never with his mate..surely it can't be profile related? I've check the ID 10 T assumption that copies = 1. Nick

In our newly installed Mac suite, we seemed to be getting duplicate printing for every job. Has anyone else seen this.
-
indeed it did...marvelous!

Anyone done it yet? Issues, problems? Finally, when does it have to be done by? Not looking forward to it..but I said that about the SIMS migration and that was easy peasy ;-0 Thanks Nick

Applied the patch and it's now let me select SIMS2005...just hope it backs up. been getting these errors Event ID: 57860 "An error occurred while attempting to log in to the following server... SQL error number: "0011"" is seen when backing up a server with SQL installed. ..maybe the patch might fix this....

It might well be permissions. I've checked that the user logged in is an Administrator, will double check the folder permissions. It's not a CC3 built machine, just vanilla XP using the network connection. IE retains the proxy info fine...For once, Microsoft product is working better than the competition ;-) Ta for your thoughts. Nick

Not sure if this is the right place, but on a non-RM built machine connected to our CC3, I've set up the proxy settings in Firefox..when I close and restart the proxy settings have gone. Any ideas why it's not keeping them? Nick

In the end I checked the connect ini files to ensure they were looking at the right instance...then i stopped the old one and waited for the calls to coming flooding in..nearly two days later..nada!!

We're using 10d...11d it is then. Nick

Looks like it. We're working through cleaning it up offline. But how can we ever be sure...there's so many processes running!

Hi After SIMS migration to SQL Express, we need to alter the back up job to exclude the old SQL instance and include the new SQL2005 instance of the SIMS database for the backups, in backup exec. I've tried editing the job and selecting the SIMS2005 SQL instance but it won't let me saying "couldn't connect to the database" Anybody done this successfully. any tips?! Nick

turns out someone has loaded several services onto our dc to do with the counterstrike game. we've actually this morning just caught a remote user on it, trying to install more services and transferring stuff via an open ftp connectoin......first thing..pull the plug! dear oh dear.

Found both of these in our WINNT/System32 folder. The Alerter service on our DC appears to be pointed to Lssas.exe. The Alerter service on our replica points to SCVHost. A bit of research looks like the Lssas.exe is a nasty piece of work and shouldn't be there. A trojan variant of GrayBird. Should Alerter be using SCVHost as opposed to the proper Lsass.exe? We're also completely unable to ping our DC. It tells us it's connected to the switch fine, the switch says its fine yet we can't reach it?! Any suggestions. It has a fixed IP and being the DC has all the DNS and DHCP stuff on it. Ta Nick "head scratching" Davies

yes we do. we have backup exec, rm portal and WASP inventory instances still running but what i'm saying is that the sims instance is still running is msde. how do i know that sims isn't still using that one. stop it?!!!!!
-
You'd think so, but I'm fairly surely the MSDE instance is still running?!

On sometime machines it's there on others it aint. I just don't understand... Now having issues in Course Manager where the courses changed to Active and are then "saved"... go back into it and it's Inactive...i.e. unsaved. Anyone else been seeing this? Does anyone know how Course Manager links to the Examinations module. Thanks Nick
-
This appears to even myself as a stupid question but I just need confirmation..after migration, I need to stop the old instance of the SIMS db running on MSDE, right? I'm scared to do this because of the two errors in this... The file on Supportnet SIMSSQL2005Migration_12873.pdf is pretty helpful and straightforward (for a change). I came unstuck when our server wasn't on SP1 at least...which took an extra hour. Also when it prompted for the db to migrate, the list was empty, a solution for which was posted on here in my thread "SIMS SQL Help Needed" or something similar ...the guide doesn't tell you about this "feature"
