We went for the 660 ti in our new set up at home. But that was more about ensuring the budget would then stretch in the future for the 3 identical cards that would ultiamtely sit in its quad SLI configuration. I shudder to think what teh bank balance would look like if I had to source 4 x anything in the 680 range!

Just wanted to clarify this point that Rebelgril made. Even when the system is hosted at the school we offer a "Managed Service" and our support desk carries out all routine upgrades remotely without interrupting the school operations. It's all scheduled and arranged with the school IT support team to ensure that it seamlessly integrates with all the schools usual technical processes. With the cloud MIS version, upgrade and backups are of course transparent to the user and are completed automatically within the service.

I found that, when reading book 5, because of how books 4 and 5 had been written (as two narratives in parralel) and released YEARS apart!! That I had to go back and re-read sections ofbook 4 to remind myself of what had happened. Also there were massive periods of Deja Vu (obviously) and confusing parts where I was like.. "Hang on? Isn't so and so in this location now not here?" all of which was because the events in the two books covered the same narrative span. So if they do manage to do books 4 and 5 as just two seasons... it's going to have to be s4 - b4/5 (first halves), s5 -b4/5 (second halves). Although I do find it a bit tough to think of what would be the theoretical season 4 "finale" in that structure....Season 5 finales are obvious and aplenty though

Anyway, we've got one more episode this season. Season 4 to deal with the remainder of book 3. Then, assuming they don't mix things up massively, we start to get a strongly different tale being told as the TV show will have to merge books 4 and 5 together in order to tell the story. For those who are not aware the timelines of books 4 and 5 are quite "confusing". Specifically because G.R.R decided to take half the characters and tell their stories in the first book (going from points in time A to B) and then tell teh remaining 50% in book 5 (again going from point in time A to B). I can't see a television audience being able to handle the timeline suddenly shifting back to the end of two seasons earlier in order to preserve that narrative format. So expect to see books 4 & 5 mushed together for the TV. and as they are both easily big enough to require two seasons each... we are at least 5 years away form book 6 being televised. Which is a good job as G.R.R. hasn't finished it yet. This of course assumes the show remains popular and they deliver it in its entirety and don't finish it after season 7 (as some worrying rumours have been seen to imply).

@Marshall IT - You're actually skipping forward a bit there. Season 3 is only the first half of book 3. The events to which you allude occur much later in the book. To be honest I thought the The Red Wedding would be the season finale.. the fact it wasn't (and I should have seen it coming as episode 9 has been climaxsome in all the seasons so far NedHead in season 1 and the Battle of the Blackwater in season 2) means that I am now umming and ahing over what's actually going to be in episode 10. Without spoilers I don't know if its going to be Kings Landing, Castle Black of Across the Sea...maybe it'll be all three. I am more worried about Gendry at the moment. Mainly because they have diverged his storyline in the show away from the books.. So he is currently the only one whose fate I don't currently know.

I especially like the compilation video of "reactions" someone put together on YouTube.

Its one of various theories floating around. Hurt is a perviously unrevealed regeneration that occurs between McGann and Ecclestone. Possibly a la "The Valliard". Other theories include 1 - Hurt is actually the "original" Gallifreyan who's actions were so heinous that in his first regeneration (into Hartnell) the character had a crisis of conscience and became The Doctor (no need to bump regeneration numbers around). 2 - That Hartnell et al are just the regenerations that have taken the name The Doctor and that there are potentially dozens of incarnations before Hartnell that are the same gallifreyan but have disticntly different core personalities. Personally I am gunning for the Hurt is the one invovled in the Time War because it has the potential to tell the story of the Time War. ps. I've avoided all "media" sources to try to minimise spoilers up till now.

yeah but Ring of Ma'Ruf wasn't search your deck.. it was search your "collection".. choose the perfect card out of your 10,000 cards and bring it into the game
-
Plus most of the cards being mentioned are probably no longer in the set. Like "Ring of Ma'Ruf".. Such a broken card. It's use was essentially.. spend some mana and then go through your entire library of Magic Cards, pick one and put it into your hand!!! That got banned from tournament play pretty darn quick.
-
ooh that was my pet peeve.. Bloomin' DENIAL decks! A close second was "kill you with your own mana" decks.
-
It really depends on your gaming group. I've played with groups in the past who were absolute sticklers to "ONLY" playing tournament legal decks and groups who loved creating silly theme decks (an old friends Plague Rats deck was not fun to play against, the attack of defense of each plague rat is equal to the number of plague rats in play.. and they were the ONLY creatures in is deck).
-
Played it a LOT back in the day. Don't forget that this is a game that has been around for a couple of decades at least (23 years according to the wiki). Type 2 is essentially where the games producers publish a list of which cards can and can't be used in "tournament" play. It is basically a means for them to cull old cards from the set.. and as they are regularly releasing new expansins.. well that's were the cost comes in. That and the fact the card distribution is random in the booster and you're only getting 1 "rare" card in each pack...they REALLY got the collectible aspect sewn up there.

Back in the day we had a customer send us a copy of their database on 5.25 " floppy. Unfortunately they had "STAPLED" the disk to the covering letter to ensure it didn't get lost.

Had a quick poke around int he archive. back in 2011 JStuttard stated they were using Engage. not sure if he is still active or still using it though.
-
I suspect that Graham may! But I would suggest you either ask him direct or take it to a PM as that has "nothing" to do with the Op's original query.

You'll need to say what MIS ssytem you're using. It'll be different in Bromcom, SIMS, Aspen etc.

You could argue they never did... Didn't they rebrand their corporate identity to Blackberry when they released there touch screen phone earlier in the year?

We encountered an issue on Launch da, in that the Origin's sites add new payment method form was bust. Tried to explain to the technical support guys that it was because the XML was badly coded and had resulted in a broken month selector.. I even sent them the extract from the page source that isolated the issue.. to no avail. What they did do though was, after confirming that there was no way we'd be able to buy the version with all the bells and whistles from them direct that they would, once we'd bought a physcial copy from whereever, gift us the activation codes for the bits we'd be missing out on. So the other half wended her way down to Game and got two physical copies from there and then, at 3pm the phone call we were promised materialised, she confirmed her activation code and they gave her the add on codes for the french and german city packs FOC. So don't give up all hope that the standard version will not be able to deliver. Just get on the phone to help desk. Worth a shot.

I believe the term "PR Catastrophe" has been bandied around as a fair summation.
-
It is a great game, but bear in mind that they are currently patching it "aggressively" to deal with various issues. Currently the issue that is most annoying me is that in order to deal with server stability they essentially disabled some of the region play functionality. Seemingly however this is only affecting people intermittently. So you can start a city and then, when you get to the point that you need to buy your waste coverage from a neighbour, try to do so and nothing happens. I am sure they'll sort it out though. To give "some" of the EA staff their dues, since the EU servers came online it seems like they are actually reacting to issues now rather than just appearing to sit back and count the money. Server numbers have tripled since Friday morning.

I've actually recently become aware of the vast number of primaries for whom regisration is still a paper based system.. and these are schools that DO have an MIS. You could have knocked me down with a feather when I found this out.. 21st Century people, come on..

Beef/Horse meat & DNA testing non-meat products?
Bromcom_John replied to Rawns's topic in General Chat
Well the event obviosuly sparked a bit of immediate research on my part this morning. Lots of reports going back to at least 2002. One of which was a Daily Fail article about the aforementioned "natural pest control", Tesco have obviously denied it. It must be cheaper to buy grapes grown in southern Europe rather than Amazonian South America!! or at least, it ought to be Perhaps the whole Horse meat thing (which Tesco have responded too with a pledge to "buy British" more) may put all this global food distribution into a clearer light. Offending pack of grapes has been disposed of.. They offered a refund if I could take them to the store. It'll cost £3 to get there and the grapes are only worth £4... -
Beef/Horse meat & DNA testing non-meat products?
Bromcom_John replied to Rawns's topic in General Chat
Well it just got worse in our household. This morning the other half found a probably dead, maybe just in deep hibernation due to the cold, exotic looking spider and egg sac attached to a cluster of Red grapes we bought from Tesco's on Sunday. As the grapes are imprted from Peru I don't hold out much hope that it's a local creep. I would provide a picture but her survival instinct borne of EXTREME arachnaphobia kicked in and the critter was verily crushed into an unrecognisable mush by the immediate and repeated application of a big cold firm grape. it was about the size of a 50p piece and pale coloured, so not a black widow at least. -
Not a SIMS expert (although our involvement does bring with it a certain amount of "use") but I would suspect you'd go to examination oganiser and set up an exam results embargo from within the tools menu. Set the start date/time and end date/time then any exceptions can be added. Not sure of the actual scope that this applies the viewing restriction, but if its an embargo then it should protect the results from being viewed by anyone NOT in the exceptions list.

Wouldn't this defeat the object though. Aren't the "bragging" rights with smartphones that you've got the latest bit of tech not the most expensive bit of tech. Surely the sort of people your looking to impress with your smart phone are exactly the sort of people who're going to poo poo your £7000 phone because its not the latest iGimmick.
