So we're still running .Net 4.0 here but I'm looking into upgrading the network to 4.5.2 as the upcoming upgrade to Target Tracker is released soon and I'm told the update of Target Tracker uses 5.4.2. In the WSUS console I set WSUS to sync feature packs but only .Net 4.5.1 is listed with no sign of 5.4.2. Where is 5.4.2 hiding or is it a matter on installing 5.4.1 first then 5.4.2 will appear? Thanks.

I've got 30 of the things here and now they are up and running I don't get many problems apart from not being able to use paid apps. I've got the VPP account setup but as the school doesn't have a credit/debit card I can't see a way to purchase the credit.

One of my schools has Inventry and my other school is having it fitted next month. The only issues they have with it is it doesn't print the register when doing a fire drill only pupils who have booked in through the system that day.

This is a simple thing to do on a PC but I'm lost on an Android device. We've got a bunch of Hudl's that will be used with the ActiveLearn site. I've installed Firefox as couldn't get Chrome and Flash working together and I want to create a shortcut the 'desktop' so Firefox opens on the logon page. So far I've found if I open Firefox to goes to the last page used or if I make a shortcut with the logon page URL it open in a new tap which is not what I want. So in a nutshell I want Firefox to open on the logon page every time the shortcut is used and not keep any other tabs open. Maybe I'm thinking too much like a PC but surely if too many tabs are open Firefox is going to start crashing.

Anyone had dealings with App Central? They are app designers and the HT want's a school app that links newsletters, calendars and other onto parents phones. Looks a waste of money to me but what do I know! Apps Central provides Apps to schools, clubs and organisations

I use something similar at my schools but my script checks what OU the machine is in and maps different printers accordingly. Works well and we have MFD's too. Perhaps delete the lines that remove the printer as you are adding the same printer again anyway. Edit: also delete the 3 second delay as that won't be needed anymore.

I've been looking at installing a new Ruckus system but UniFi seems to be half the price of Ruckus so I'm liking it more and more. The UAP-PRO is only slightly cheaper than the UAP-AC but UAP-AC has higher throughput in the 5GHz band. Can I ask why you recommended the PRO version over AC? Ubiquiti Networks - UniFi® AP

We've installed the Scratch Junior app on a bunch of iPads but the app stays on the first (splash) screen and we can't see anyway to move off it. Anyone?

Would you believe it! I've just been handed 6 Hudls to setup despite warning them off android. First hurdle is getting round the initial setup which doesn't give the option to enter a proxy.

Could be the config wasn't saved on the switch so was lost when powered down. Check the switch hasn't gone back to it's default settings and IP address.

I know 2Simple don't list many android tablets that are compatible with 2build a profile but I would love to know what problems you have been having?

We're getting this software for the foundation stage and have had the trial running for a week on iPods and iPhones. Like you would expect owing to the small screen size it's not easy seeing what your doing so we're looking at getting something bigger. I've not used the software myself but if I were using it I would like a 10" screen like the iPad has. What devices have people found to work best with 2Build? I understand there needs to be a trade off with size and budgets but if it makes your eyes hurt price shouldn't come into it.

It's the Java requirement that is putting me off so I'm going to hold out on upgrading for as long as I can. Any idea what has improved in v6 over v5?

One of my schools has been using PCE for a few years and it's been ok apart from the far too many false positives. They are running 5.1.4.8 and I've been told v6 is just around the corner but it needs Java to run so that put me off for a start as I've removed Java from all the clients months ago. Has anyone tried PCE v6 or is thinking about it? Like a said v5 is ok so don't want to move just because v6 is new and shiny

I've noticed a problem transferring files to virtual machines. The setup is Server2012 running Hyper-V that hosts 3 virtual machines, the AV server running 2008, print server running 2003 and WSUS server running 2012. Everything runs fine but if I transfer a large file say 3GB to any of the VM's the transfer speed starts off at 80MB per second then after 12 seconds it drops to around 5MB second. It continues at this speed for a minute then briefly speeds up before dropping again. I've tried smaller files at 600MB and they move across fine, no drop in speed at all. Moving files from my desktop (Win7) to the host is ok and moving files from the VM back to my desktop is also ok it's just transferring to the VM that's the problem. At no time does the connection stop or break. I’ve followed the tips in http://www.edugeek.net/forums/windows-server-2012/126721-server-2012-file-server-suddenly-stops-serving-requests-but-otherwise-looks-fine.html but the problem remains. The host has the latest Intel NIC drivers.

Pointless having cheap is it doesn't work and it's the cost of things HT look at without realising the technical implications. I for one didn't know the contract with the emPSN was for 4 years. Had it been an annual contract we would have left before now.

I'm not getting the images and iframe is blocked. The iframe says I'm not logged into the portal but did before opening the page.

We're having problems loading the ESPO site in IE and I'm starting to think it's our filter again. In Chrome it loads fine but I've had problems with the filter before where the fault only showed up in IE. Please could you load http://www.espocatalogue.org and check. Thanks.

We're locked in till 2016 and that date can't come soon enough for us. The LA is looking at alternative filter but it looks like it will cost the school extra money to have it.
