I've been using Wireshark to look at ARP broadcasts and see some of the ARP broadcasts are asking who has the address of the file server and the addresses of both DNS servers. Does this sound right as I'm sure I read that if a network is correctly configured the client will get that information from DNS first. Total broadcasts per minute for all addresses is around 600. Is that a lot?

Yes it was my fault completely. The monitors arrived in the Christmas holidays when I was off and other jobs took over on return. I think it's bad business practice not helping a customer like this as the week I placed the order for the monitors I also ordered £2000 of MS OVS licencing. Looks like I will be taking my business elsewhere when renewal time comes.

Please could you answer this question as I think a supplier is fobbing me off. We bought a new Samsung monitor that remained unopened in the box for 7 weeks. On opening the box the monitor was found with a damaged case and supplier says as it's over 28 days I should contact Samsung direct. There was no damage to the monitor packaging so this must have happened in the factory. Do I believe them as I thought all warranty claims were the supplier's responsibility.

@AlanD I've only done a few APs so far but everything seems ok but I'll wait till half term to fully roll the other APs. @mikeprice How did you fix the Java problem as I ended up reinstalling the old Java?

I remoted in over the weekend and restarted all the switches in the cab that feeds my office and this seems to have solved the problem. I have yet to mount the APs in their final location but things are looking a lot better than Friday. I'm not going to say it's fixed yet but I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Thanks for the help and I'll post an update when the task is complete.

I'm trying to capture a win 10 image using clonezilla and have already done a few backup images while installing the software but for some reason cloneziller is now saying the hidden 100M_VFAT partition is dirty and is refusing to image it. So my question is how do I reset the dirty bit on a hidden partition? Thanks in advance.

I'm looking for a supplier who can supply and fit a couple of interactive screens in our new classrooms. We already have 4 70" Genee screens which work ok but the teachers who use them are less impressed so looking for recommendations for other screens. I've heard good things about the Promethean ActivPanel but never seen them myself.

No, not tried it. How does it compare against PCE? Just heard back from Future Digital the non Java version has been delayed until first quarter 2017.

I was hoping to move away from PCE but the Impero quote came in way over what we are paying for PCE so for the time being we are sticking with it. I was told a few months ago that PCE were bringing a new version out that does not use Java so of course this was music to my ears. Looking at the Future Digital site there's the old version v6.2.3.32 which was released in October but no sign of a non Java version. Has anyone heard what's happening with this?

I've spent the afternoon planning where the APs will go and in the school there are 4 cabs, A, B, C and D. Cab A and D will each power 4 AC pros but cab B will need to power 10 AC pros. What would be the most cost effective way to achieve this? There is talk in this thread about the toughswitch possibly causing AP lockups which I don't want so would it be best say for cab B to use 2 X 8 port toughswitches and spread the load between the two?

I'm looking at the ac-pros for one of my schools. Where do I find a controller as I understood there was software that runs on a desktop PC?

Both of my schools use Wave 9 and I've found their service outstanding. We have an onsite Sophos router/filter so don't get bottle necks like a shared filter does plus full access to the firewall and filter. The Sophos UTM took a bit of getting used to mainly I think because it is very powerful piece of kit with many options but I'm ok with it now. Moving away from Capita filter and Kcom broadband is the best thing we have done in years.

Many staff have come to me saying they are having problems accessing the Pearson Active Learn site. It appears they can logon ok and download a work plan (.doc file) but the problems start when they click a link on said plan which should download another plan but it takes them right back to the Active Learn logon page. After entering their logon details again nothing downloads so they are unable to download plans unless they do a search. Pearson said to add *.activelearnprimary.co.uk to the trusted sites which hasn't made any difference. This problem is the same on non domain machines and is affecting IE and Chrome. Any ideas?

I've had something similar to that and reporting an infected host with C2/Generic . Searching the web filter logs at both of my schools that use Sophos UTM I'm finding a shed load of block entries for symcb.com Please see link below. Has anyone else that has left the Leicester City broadband buyback scheme received renewal notices from Capita? Both of my schools have received these renewal notices even though the LA have confirmed the Kcom/Capita broadband cancellation. The renewal notice arrived midday Wednesday and gives until 5pm today to cancel.

Delete the mail profile from the laptop and outlook will download the emails again.

Have you checked the autodiscover record using nslookup?
