I cannot praise VeryPc enough. Ordered 90ish machines in the summer and they are great. Free imaging! Tom is a great account manger. Spoke to him yesterday about a laptop which I wanted by the end of the week. He personally stayed late to help the production team build it so I would get it in time! Customer service is the best I have ever had. No hassling on the phone just there when I need them. Even free sweets and socks this year! Have a great Xmas VeryPc.

We have some HP 250 laptops on a Meru wireless. They are fine except when in close proximity with each other. For some reason they interfere with each other causing all sorts of issues. Walk one out of the classroom and login is fine even on same AP. Had to advise teachers to space them out in classroom.

Yes. If you left default name that will be the one. Just restore database in sql tjen follow previous instructions to point me web application to sql database. Tuen everything will come back

Sounds like you are just looking to restore your SharePoint content if you have already built your farm. You are correct about creating a new site and collection. However you don't have to restore the database. In Central admin you need need to select your new web application and then find content database (option somewhere) . Here you can point your new application to your existing old database on sql. You should then have all your content returned. Sorry can't be more precise about menus as doing this from memory on my phone.

If I remember correctly I setup a policy in smoothwall to allow itunes and had the same result. Was only when policy was near the top of priorities did it work. Even smoothwall support couldnt say why it needed to be there. Think I have mine 3rd in list just below ntlm exceptions

Not really a fix more a possible loophole... I found that if the cached mode was checked then the pics didn't load in outlook... not sure if you could do this with your students...

I allow staff permissions to each of the students folders but not the level above. I then have a simple webpage which lists all the students with a link to each students user area. This way they can play with the students folders and do what they want but they can't move from one user to the next. Makes it quicker to search for students as well by using ctrl + f in the browser. I also gave more details such as year and form so that they know they are selecting the correct student.

I agree SharePoint can be a nightmare but when you start palying with it for a while you start to get used to it... Have a look at this... Go to Central Admin on sharepoint server Click General Application Settings (left) Click Farm Search Administration Click Search service application (If one isn't listed then let me know and I will make some more instructions) Click Content sources (Left) Create a crawl schedule and tick "start full crawl" If you have already created a schedule hover over Local Sharepoint sites and click arrow and then click start full crawl On the left you will have "crawl log" click this to look at successes or errors... Some errors you can work out from the message others are easy to google.. If not put an update on here and i will take a look... Hope this helps.. it managed to get mine working...

It was something that I was nervous about changing but with the tiny cost having an ESS agreement and enterprise CAL's then it was worth the risk. I completely removed all of my McAfee on the network (in fact reinstalled whole network last summer) and replaced it with Forefront endpoint protection on all servers and clients. Using the protection for my exchange 2010 box and SharePoint 2010 box. It works fantastic! Haven't had a single issue with it and the fact that wsus can push out the updates is great!

Wish mine was that easy... i've got a similar issue with my smoothwall box... Just like you my users experience that the first time loading a site it seems to fail. Click refresh and everything is perfect again! Seems intermittent but is more frequent when the user opens IE for the first time in a while... Thinking maybe DNS, Authentication but no idea what... Browser is configured via IP so can't do your trick!

I had a similar issue with sites not loading properly which was very frustrating for my ICT department when they were teaching about web design! I found that it was a content security policy that was restricting it... I would remove all content security on a test login and slowly re-instate each security category of that polciy until you find the offending one... I just cheated and switched off most of it and i haven't had any issues... Very frustrating that the logs don't show the site being blocked by that policy... Hope it helps...

There are screenshots available on their site. Using this system means that i can give users access to any network drive that they would normally have access to. Pros... Simple to install into IIS (now i have my config i can get this running in 10mins) No need for alternate logins (AD version) Simple to configure Cost effective and no annual maintenance Ability to zip within web browser Cons... Its a upload/download interface instead of working live on your documents Users moan that they cannot download folders but hey thats what the zip is for I have got this installed on the IIS server only. Users come onto the IIS server via SSL then the software talks to the file server internally. My only server that is available externally is the IIS server so nice and secure
