I'm completely on the verge of giving this up (and I don't give up very easily). I uninstalled and re-installed the WSUS role (which was a pain in itself as something always goes wrong) uninstalled and re-installed the SUP role, made sure the WSUS server was all patched up and that my SCCM server was. I also changed the WSUS ports to 80 443 and it still is saying WSUS config failed. My elation at finally getting SCCM up and running and working has now been eclipsed by this. I'm now going to install SCCM on the WSUS server which a lot of people said should happen in the first place, but what annoys me is that it shouldn't be this difficult to get a Microsoft SCCM server and a WSUS server to talk to each other.

Yes, I'm pretty sure everything is up to date, although I will check this. What I'm going to do is uninstall re-install WSUS role, and install it under the default IIS website and ports 80/443 (basically follow these win-noob isntructions. I'll then try adding the SUP role again on my SCCM server and try syncing. I'll report back on how it went. Cheers

I'd just like to say, for the benefit of the original post, that my WSUS server is not on a 2012 box and it's still getting on my proverbials. Seriously Microsoft, how hard can this be?

Yes, done this. Definitely using 8530 and 31 on our WSUS server - this surely can't be causing issues? Also in the wsyncmgr.log I'm getting the stat error I've checked the WCM.log but there's nothing useful in it

Funnily I didn't get this error and the admin console wasn't installed on my server either. I got WSUS warnings but not errors. I installed the console afterwards by downloading the latest version of WSUS 3.0 and selecting the "administration console only" radio button.

Hi, I do love making life difficult for myself so I decided to install SCCM 2012 on a separate server to our WSUS server. Obviously this was fine as how frickin hard can it be for two microsoft servers to talk to each other? I've installed the WSUS server on SCCM as an SUP, made sure the ports are all correct and even installed the WSUS admin console on my SCCM server which is talking to WSUS without issue. Still I'm getting errors in my WCM.log saying "remote configuration failed on WSUS server" and "Setting new configuration state to 3 (WSUS_CONFIG_FAILED)". Has anyone successfully managed to set up this kind of thing on their production environment? I could move SCCM over to our WSUS server but that'd be too easy, and I can't believe it's this hard to use WSUS on a separate server. Any ideas? Many thanks Update: Also forgot to mention that I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling WSUS on the SUP as suggested by other posts on the subject

I've got a great report on Spiceworks that gives detailed information about memory in machines and how many banks are free etc. I've exported this to CSV but what I'd really like is a formula which goes through each entry and calculates how much it'd cost to upgrade according to Crucial. [table=width: 500, class: grid] [tr] [td]Name[/td] [td]Model[/td] [td]Memory[/td] [td]Free Bank[/td] [td]Upgrade Cost[/td] [/tr] [tr] [td]PC1[/td] [td]Optiplex 320[/td] [td]1024[/td] [td]0[/td] [td][/td] [/tr] [tr] [td]PC2[/td] [td]Optiplex 360[/td] [td]2048[/td] [td]1[/td] [td][/td] [/tr] [/table] So what I want is a formula that will look at the model, then the memory then the free banks and if all three meet certain conditions it takes data from sheet 2, which contains the data from Crucial. So for example If column B = "Optiplex 390" AND column C < 2048 AND column D = 0 THEN insert data from sheet2 Cell XX I'm not expecting someone to present me a formula, but if you could point me in the right direction i'd really appreciate it. Thanks guys. Yeah that's right. I checked it again today and it seems to have stopped overwriting which is a good thing. It just seems a little temperamental. If Spiceworks can do this as a report can someone show me how? I know you can find out how many DIMM slots are occupied via the Spiceworks interface, but can this info be exported into a CSV?

Hi, I need to run a script on individual machines that'll not only tell me how much RAM said machines have, but how much is loaded into each slot and which slots (if any) are free. I found a great VBscript written by a Microsoft scripting guy but its downside was that although it worked, every time the script was run it overwrote the CSV file it was writing into. Maybe I was using it incorrectly but I kinda gave up on that one. I have also tried with Spiceworks which tells you how much RAM a machine has, but no information about DIMM slots. Has anyone else had to do this? Could anyone suggest a way of doing this please? I'm learning Powershell atm so anything PS based would be a huge bonus. many thanks

Seems like it was something to do with the exchange server trying to contact old instances of a domain controller. We removed them and it's all fine now. School boy error perhaps, but why it decided to manifest itself now I don't know. The quicker we upgrade the better.

We only have one entry in here - the Default Domain Group Policy entry, so we can't click on an entry other than this. I haven't got an exchange 2000/2003 CD, so unless there's any other way I can get hold of policytest.exe then this isn't possible.

Good morning all. We had to shut down servers over the weekend due to a planned power outage, but unfortunately our Exchange 2003 server has not fared well. The shutdown was clean but on first boot this morning, some Exchange services weren't running. For example the Exchange Info Store is failing to start up giving me an error 1068. Checking the event logs, around every time I try to start up a failed service I get the following event: Event Type: Error Event Source: MSExchangeDSAccess Event Category: Topology Event ID: 2114 Date: 08/04/2013 Time: 11:16:02 User: N/A Computer: ExchangeServer Description: Process INETINFO.EXE (PID=1484). So I'm using my really powerful Sherlock skills to guess this is related. Does anyone have any ideas? Dear All, I am very much a learning network manager (although aren't we all?) and for ages I've been looking for something to help me set up an isolated Hyper-V lab. Something I can test new applications with and something I can break, that won't interfere with my main network yet has the convenience of being installed so it can access the internet. Well I've finally found a great tutorial that I've just finished with a lot of success. The website has some formatting problems, and if you want to view the images you have to open them up in a new tab and change the URL so it doesn't try to access through https but these issues are outweighed by how helpful the four step tutorial was. Hi, I'm sure this has been raised before but I couldn't find anything using that little search box thingy up there in the right hand corner . In a nutshell, a visually impaired student wishes to use an iPad in all their exams. This IS permitted by the appropriate exam board, but what they don't think about is the technical implications. My question is, has anyone already used iPads in an exam situation in their school? How did it go? What did you learn from it and would you support use of iPads for exams in the future? Thanks

Has anyone got any good links for troubleshooting why logon scripts aren't applying in a particular OU? It's related to this issue where I've tried to apply a powercfg.bat logon script which weren't being applied with no errors in the event logs. After running a GPReport and RSOP report a computer within the affected OU is applying the correct startup scripts but not the correct assigned logon ones.

This is what makes it extra frustrating. The fact that A: it's completely random, and B: some of the machines affected were produced from an image that had the correct power scheme and have subsequently changed. Has anyone tried remedying this with a batch or VB script instead? I tried with a powercfg login script but have had no luck. Perhaps someone has tried something else before I start looking towards power management software? Sorry if I've been pestering, and I appreciate everyone's help, even if it's just someone saying they've experienced the same thing. It doesn't matter if you think you have no answer. It makes me feel better to know I'm not alone in this,
