Don't they have or give you an installation disc or maybe an application you can download from cisco to manage these WAP's or controllers that will scan your network for any of the controllers and do it through there application ( if they have one ) ? Wondering is there any point in updating the NIC driver on the server at some point and ensuring its got any power management options disabled. Then do the same on a few clients and try the clients on a physical connection for the time being

If they as in the WiFi AP's connect to a controller before going into the core or a switch then I presume its picking up the controllers mac addresses If you logon to each controller is there a way to view the attached WAP's info for each area or departments that they cover ?

Check date, time and also time zones on both server and a few laptops ? Also have you got another server you could set some shares on and see if you still get the same issue?

Use something like angry ip scanner to scan the subnets ( if you have more than one ) and sort the results by mac address and see if its finding the WAP's by the 5475D0 MAC address or by the one shown by inssider. I presume it will find them by the 5475D0 mac addresses Also I suppose what mac addresses and other info you are trying to record for this report / map etc

Guessing here but the inSSIDer MAC Address is the MAC Address of the WiFi card that is creating the wireless network WAP MAC I presume is the MAC Address of the Physical NIC on The WAP that connects the WAP into your network ??

The slow part may be down to safari allowing lots of tabs to be opened and having other apps running. As soon as all of this is closed down then the rest runs smoother

Curious - what stuff did you need to disable via msconfig to get it to boot etc

What network card driver has it got installed ( one from the laptop manufacturers website or the network card manufacturers website ) ? I presume the AV is not mucking up the network card driver / filter etc Any errors in the event viewer relating to anything trying to install or run or apply when it is booting ?

For the sake of a number of months ( depending on a few other factors ) may as well just keep it the same for the time being and will consider this when the property is our own, currently we allocate aprox £60 for each per month

Currently renting and are on pre paid meters for both gas and electric, we did phone and ask ref swapping to direct debit etc but they were going to charge us £60 or £65 per meter to swap ( and it is a rented property we are in ) so don't want to swap them over only to move in a year or so to our own property ( as we are looking or will be soon ) at getting our own property so just using pre paid meters as they are for now. Once we move to our own property - will definitely look at ebico etc ( maybe even give them a go )
