Suspending Bit Locker from the command prompt within Win PE
mac_shinobi replied to mac_shinobi's topic in Windows 7
Good suggestion although ( not having a go however ) 1) I work in 2nd line desktop support so do not have access rights to GPO - even if I did I don't want to disable it system or site wide 2) I generally only need this for when repairing / recovering data from laptops so wanted a batch script to do this so I don't have to keep typing the commands out ( as I can get the bit locker recovery key from the computer account within AD ) Also as a side note with bit locker, is there a way of saving a text file or some file onto a memory stick so I don't have to keep re-entering the recovery key onto the laptop so as to access the data / do system repairs etc Also is there a faster way of getting to the WinPE recovery screen so I can explore the contents of the hard drive / launch the command prompt etc as currently we have to 1) Enter the recovery key at the dos like screen 2) click yes to enable the network connection / mapping of network drives 3) Enter in the local admin account credentials ( this part I don't mind doing ref entering local admin logon details ) 4) Then have to enter in the recovery key for a 2nd time 5) Then it attempts to do repairs which run for 15 to 20 mins which you can try and cancel however it still runs for another few mins 6) You can finally click a link to open up the advanced tools etc but it does not always load the explore the hard drive option etc, only seem to get command prompt etc -
Currently go through this process ( as out lined below ) to suspend bit locker from the command prompt when booted into Windows PE Just wanted to know if there was a way of doing this via a batch file or similar Appologies if this is in the wrong area - it relates to windows 7 and bit locker so have currently placed in the windows 7 area, although it is a batch file that I am after so if an admin can move this if it needs to be moved Thanks @Arthur @Steve21 or anyone else that can assist with a batch script / file

A quick guide that I made - for windows 7 and scanning from a Ricoh MFD , think this walks through a similar process for the same settings ( I believe ) as mentioned abovewindows 7 scan settings v2.pdf -

@ICTDirect_Dave Presume he doesn't have a W530 ? Also how much is one of those W510 laptops with that spec and what SSD is it ? Also would it cost much more for a 240gb Samsung 840 Pro SSD instead of the 120gb ssd ?

[android] Hudl won't connect to Netgear router
mac_shinobi replied to Dos_Box's topic in Mobile Devices & Tablets
Not now but a few years ago when I had internet connectivity when I was with BeThere ( they were changing there DNS Servers and did not advise anyone via letter / email etc ) and I couldn't get a connection, called there tech support number and got the usual automated voice system which advised of them changing DNS Servers and jotted the new ones down and programmed this onto the router and then it started to work perfectly Just wondering if your ISP is maybe changing DNS servers or if they are actually having issues per say ( yes I know I spelt it wrong ref "per say" ) Obviously using google's DNS isn't such a bad thing, just curious though how come google dns over open dns or something else -

So the ISP's DNS was a bit knackered * putting it technically * and as soon as you switched to google's DNS servers , it is now working ? -

One thing I noticed on the last link is this UUUMMMM - how are you supposed to check for later firmware updates on the HUDL if it will not connect ? If you do all that and it is still the same maybe take it back and get it swapped for another HUDL, maybe just got a dodgy one ? -

One comment on here : https://www.facebook.com/tesco/posts/588335951225540 Showing that the hudl did not like upper or lowercase letters or something to that effect Tesco Help site ref forgetting the network and ensuring show the password is checked to ensure the correct wifi password is being entered : Tesco Tech Support | Wi-Fi stuck on 'Authenticating' Common things to try regarding WiFi issues on the HUDL : Tesco Tech Support | Troubleshooting connection problems -

Plus one to this - a hard reset and a soft reset and then try again ?? -
What sort of issue(s) or problems does CCleaner cause on a domain joined pc , I don't use it often to clear the registry on domain joined pc's, generally just if Sophos is having issues being re-installed after I have done a plethora of other things

@Arthur - any suggestions ref vlc?

Maybe not but if the other media player ( windows media player Home Cinema ) allows the user to do what they want without launching a multitude of processes for the same program / app then surely that fixes it ( even in a work around kind of way )
