Lucky git - I can only get DSL ( ADSL2+ to be more specific ) so no fibre what so ever and probably not for a long time either.

@cookie_monster - what video monitor is it, just wondering if it has an Ethernet port so you don't have to use wireless ? If you do have to use wireless then as you mentioned get a dual band router or wireless access point, but then this depends on your other wireless devices as to whether or not they support 5ghz ? Maybe set your 2.4 ghz wireless to a different channel to the baby monitor maybe ?

Personally I buy a phone because I want to use it as a 'Phone' ie making calls / sending text messages etc, don't get me wrong it is great that they have a lot of other features regardless of being android / iphone / nokia ( or whatever else ) with regards to music players, video players , browsing the web, using it like a camera as the phones improve over time etc but for me the camera side of a mobile phone is more a convenience thing so if I didn't have an actual camera on me and I wanted to take some photo's or video footage etc then I can still do so using my phone. Doing all these comparisons on camera / photo quality and whatever else between phones, I know how anti apple most people on edugeek are and prefer android or something else. Personally I have an iPhone, mostly due to already being in the iOS / Apple eco system. Not overly keen on android just yet so just stucking with apple for now, yeah yeah I know locked in a box etc meh Anyway carry on with the debate or whatever ......

If you can get Sky ( Sky Broadband & Talk - Broadband speeds to suit your needs, now with free Sky Broadband Shield ) or BeThere ( https://www.bethere.co.uk/web/beportal/homepage ) then I would suggest one of those - Currently with sky and support has been great and it has just worked since I have had it. On the odd occasion as with DSL Routers etc I have had to swap DSL Filters and reboot the router now and again when it starts to go slow but think that is normal. I suppose it depends on what your nearest exchange has and or supports as far as what has been enabled etc. I think SamKnows - Accurate broadband performance information for consumers, governments and ISPs is the website you can use to check your exchange to see which ISP's you can go with etc EDIT - Forgot to mention with BeThere the support is foreign or was when I used to be with them a couple or so years ago however the connection I had always worked aside from once but called there support number and the auto answer machine just advised that they had changed there DNS Servers and then stated what the new ones were, went onto the router via the Web GUI and updated the new DNS server ip addresses and then it continued to work When I was with BeThere they were pretty good as far as an ISP goes and being reliable with regards to the connection, if you wanted an ISP with tech support etc then Sky or someone else then.

That or the FN Key and another key to increase and decrease brightness or switching modes ie single, cloned, external only , extended desktop etc, bios setting to select the default mode and if it uses the laptop screen / docking connector etc etc Might have to use an external monitor and the FN and other key to switch to the external screen to see the bios settings Wondering if its maybe the gpu / graphics chip over heating ?

@plexer - You got a link to one of those. Not heard one of those being mentioned before as a cause to issues with the screen I would have thought 1) Inverter ( depending on the type of screen and or laptop as may be that the circuitry on the motherboard that deals with stepping up the voltage / ampage to get enough power to the screens back light or just the screen in general ). I know on some laptops they had the inverter as a separate small pcb that the screen connected into such as the dell D630 as per this video : 2) LCD Cable which you have already tried 3) The screens back light has blown or gone dimm so needs a replacement screen If the inverter circuitry is on the motherboard itself then will need a replacement motherboard Obviously any items you replace or any work you do on laptops you need to ensure that the battery and mains cables are dis-connected before doing replacements of any components Think I mentioned the above previously but just saying again

Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out. 2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected. 3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes. 4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked). 5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore. 6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes. 7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window. 8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just cancelling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad. If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.

Is that due to having a 54G WiFi AP or router ?

I use WPA2-Personal at home and get 450mbps on wifi ( 5ghz ) vs at work on WPA2-Enterprise with AES and a certificate etc and get 300mbps again on 5ghz

100 and 20 as in ms time to live etc or what exactly ? With VLAN's don't you have to have both vlan's tagged or un-tagged etc and also the dhcp or ip address helper etc etc Will just stay subscribed as don't think I can be of much more use , sorry :yield:

If you use this option @sted - is it not possible to just mount the UNC path as a drive letter - presumably the same way as you would on windows 7 so right click computer --> map network drive..... --> select the drive letter you want it to use --> enter the unc path in and click the link or option(s) for entering any authentication details so that the server can authenticate against the NAS ( if it needs to ) to allow it to map the unc path as a drive letter and then use said drive letter to do the backups ( not sure if windows server backup will allow you to make backups in this manner though ) ??

When booted into windows PE when I do a list volume, it shows the 500mb partition with the drive letter assignment of D: ( but yes they are mostly all generally the C: Drive ) I just want the script to request which drive letter and then suspend encryption on that drive letter just in case there are a few laptops that come in that have or use a different partition letter assignment Unless you have some way of checking that it is not the recovery partition ie capacity is greater than 500mb ?

We only have one working drive caddy that is half decent and when the drive is on the verge of failing I have found it better to keep the hard drive installed in the same laptop and leave it for hours to read the data etc as have attempted using the drive caddy as you described above but this has just failed and keeps prompting to format the drive ( which we obviously don't want to do when attempting to recover data off the drive ) So am still after a batch script ....... Think the order I need to do the bat commands in are disk part list volume Then request which drive letter / partition you want to suspend then use the above input to suspend said drive letter / partition Display a message that Drive X: has had the bit locker encryption suspended etc
