  1. Long shot but physically on the memory stick is there a slider switch to put the memory stick in a read only state or a read and or write state Just wondering if that is set to the read only mode which is why you are getting those errors ?
  2. Is there some way to ensure that it runs with elevated access rights and would it make any difference if it is a .bat instead of a .cmd ?
  3. @Arthur / @wagnerk / @SYNACK Found some articles via google but then found the uninstall string for PDF Creator which shows the same as what Sh500 is already using and when I tried to use msiexec /uninstall or similar I kept getting error messages Just wondering if you could shed some light on how to remove PDF Creator
  4. I would debate that as VM when I was with them for well over a year would constantly do 1) Traffic Shaping 2) Throttle my speed a lot even just after downloading one Linux DVD ISO which was about 9gb and would take a while to go back to the normal connection speed 3) Had other issues with VM , mostly regards to video streaming which was forever buffering and went through lots to try and resolve it and in the end just got told something to the effect of "That's just the way it is...." which wasn't a good enough answer considering I was paying a lot per month to them for broadband / tv and phone ( on the XXL Package unlimited ) 4) There Super Hub turned out to be an extremely shoddy hub to the point I had to put it into modem only mode and they were insistent on the issue being my router even after only having there super hub in normal mode and my router not even connected and it still did exactly the same ( regardless of them sending me replacement hub after replacement hub ) Oh and the wireless on those super hubs when I had them - total Joke !! Needless to say have and did leave them quick sharp !!
  5. Being able to use 3rd party off site backup solutions and not taking several months to complete one backup of 500gb of data, all well and good saying use an external hard drive or something else on site but in the rare instance there is a fire or flood / some other natural disaster then going to be difficult to recover data etc Im talking more from a home user perspective than a company as I would like to use a backup solution that is off site ie google back blaze or similar but with having ADSL2+ I only get 1mbps upload which even with 250 gb of data said it would take 7 months to make a backup ( that is uploading all day / all night etc ) which is just silly
  6. Coming Soon in my area , wonder what sort of speeds this will provide on BT Fibre ( Open Reach ) ?? Apparently within the next 6 months or so
  7. At least you have fibre in your area, I have the choice of ADSL2+ or nothing No BT Infinity, no Virgin Media Fibre and just wish Google Fibre was available where I live but am guessing that will either 1) Never happen 2) If it does it will be a very VERY long time before google fibre is released in the UK and released in my Area Saw a news article the other day in the papers about getting fibre broadband across 90% of the UK by the end of 2017 I think it said but I have no clue or idea if that includes the place where I live or not sigh
  8. I Need Another Exceptionally better browser ??
  9. Maybe ( long shot here ) but @ICTDirect_Dave ?? If not plenty of IT Equipment recycling companies about Just curious if anyone wanted one - presume they would have to collect and if so where from or you willing to ship ( not sure how big / heavy said printers are ) ??

  14. I'm curious - do all cars have a fuse for the fuel pump etc ?

  16. Just these 2 below that I do not get or understand ( The rest I understand / get ) : * What is the contour interval around western Europe? 17. Passed mine in 2008 - not sure what that entitles me to - need to check mine If I remember correctly I still can't tow a trailer and need to do a separate test for this
  18. no problem - just some thoughts ( as to how helpful / useful they are , that's another story due to data protection of keeping backups off site and with a 3rd party company who may or may not keep said backups within the EU / UK etc ) Anyway be good to know how it goes with this mac mini / SSD / Extra RAM and the backing up of said mac mini
  19. I was thinking a NAS but as a lot of other edu folk keep saying "A NAS Device is not for backup purposes" ...... Just curious - data protection and other aspects - would using an external company / 3rd party company to do backups so googles back blaze ( which is cheap ) or if you google there are plenty of 3rd party companies who can do backups of the mac mini ( obviously this will require a good internet connection both up and download speeds / bandwidth and amount of data that you will be uploading / downloading etc ) https://www.backblaze.com/mac-online-backup.html?gclid=CJ6izoifg8ACFcrpwgodwn8AVw Best cloud backup services reviewed and rated | News | TechRadar Obviously if backing to an online external company as per above is out of the question then will have to be to a local device such as the Lacie Drive / NAS or something to that effect However as you stated above if its just documents then maybe google or dropbox to keep a safe copy / backup of said documents ? There is Own Cloud if there is a server you could use and set this up just as a thought : https://owncloud.com/download/?ref=adwords&gclid=CIL3hNmfg8ACFazItAodNxcAGg @Arthur / @seawolf - any other suggestions / thoughts or criticisms of my above thoughts lol

  21. Don't the computer manufacturer that you use have there own bootable cd or software to diagnose ram / hdd etc Lenovo and Dell do, not checked other manufacturers The lenovo disc auto generates a result code afterwards which the lenovo support rep can verify and send out a replacement part under warranty or whatever is required
